Two things have been horrible for fashion: Kardashians and logos.
Ahahahahahah 😂 👍🏻💯
I have never watched the kardashians and probably never will.
And Bernard Arnault/LVMH.
Correct.
We should send this video to the Kardashians 😂
Just buy products because you like it. Not for others people to judges! I don’t care if others ppl thinks I am rich or poor! If I like the design and quality then I buy it.
That's right.
Exactly 👍
Yup
I love my Balmain and Moncler logo sweatshirts. Great comfort and quality! I really dont care what people think about the logos. Everything has logos these days.
I felt the same but whenever I wear my Chanel bag I literally get stares. You still have to be particular of where you wear your things
Not to mention that Balenciaga destroyed its reputation with a really disturbing marketing campaign earlier this year. Badly done and I will not be surprised if the house eventually closes because of that campaign.
It’s only social media that cares. Its almost as if every influencer must say something about Balenciaga. Nobody cares in real life. I see people in Balenciaga clothing and leather goods every single week. In fact they just had a very successful fashion show with many A list celebrities in attendance and promoting their products. 🤷🏽♀️
@@myhubbyislouisvuitton4218 Balenciaga is trash. The only way celebrities and “ A list” like you said are promoting it it’s because they get paid millions or thousands to wear it….or attend the show
@@Aliceinparisofficial Your absolutely right but I didn’t want to bore anyone with the obvious since we all know all celebrities are provided with renumeration for PR.
The fashion show was hysterical.
Thx for this video! Everything is true! Balenciaga, gor example is disaster and misery 🤢😖😖😖🤮🤮🤮🤮
Dont be offended but vintage Coach is very quiet luxury. Not everyone has one and not every bag is easy to find
I ❤the coach brand but the company said they’d were removing themselves from the luxury sector
I myself don’t like the “L” word because it’s over hyped and it makes people feel inferior to others whom don’t have the means to buy and it also acts as if every designer named as a luxury brand is made of unknown materials which makes it seems the consumers has a one of a kind, unlimited piece
And we all know that “luxury “ as many call it can be bought anywhere and from anyone
So let’s stop with that narrative and just say high quality
It sounds better😏👌
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 could've said it better
I still have it in my closet bag.
I’m a coach girl myself and mostly bc even though it’s considered “luxury” it’s still affordable especially for the quality. $200 bags and I have a few I’ve had for over 10 years. I also noticed that the replicas/bootlegers dont seem to really sell well people who buy replicas are not into them anymore. And I’m glad bc when I see people with them more than likely it’s genuine.
@@QuirkyTJones Nothing can compare to the vintage 1970s/1980s Coach bags they are just as lux as my Hermes. Sadly there are many fake vintage Coach bags
I’m disgusted that people are still supporting Balenciaga after they released the recent disturbing marketing campaign.
a lot of people are still wearing this brand. The whole aesthetic is so disturbing
I'm personally glad that people are wearing Balenciaga. It allows me to spot an idiot without having to actually speak to them first.
I dont know. Do you really think Denma abuses kids? I agree the adds were in bad taste, but a lot of people going out of work doesnt seem like the right answer. Lately we have had too many peso witch-hunts. Bad taste adds, I agree they were terrible, but I dont think the kids in them were mistreated.
I got a Balenciaga bag for my bday from an especial person and I wear it, cute silver bag sorry but nothing I can do,l like the bag a lot but if people are going to hate me for that it’s ok as long as they stay away from me🫣❤
@@beautybygoddessjeanette1793 No one will hate you. Its a strange situation.
I recall my great-aunt, who was a woman of means and lived in France for a while prior to World War II, saying that she would never wear anything with a logo. She very clear ly shared that she would never be a free walking advertisement for anyone.
I've been of this opinion since a HS friend showed up to class proudly sporting her DKNY t-shirt in the 80s.
@@tammelas3438 I can see it now.
That’s a lady with taste and class. She was right.
The late #JoanRivers yelled similar on an ep of her FashionPolice *"What are they? A Walking Billboard??!"* right then & there I SAW Logos Differently!
Oak, then what would she do if it's cold out and she needs a good parka? Every worthwhile one will have logo on the shoulder. Its cute to have the trendy plain Aritzia ones, but they =arent going to keep you warm.
I say just wear what makes you happy. No one should care what others think of your wardrobe. And I’m not trying to “look rich.” I’m not trying to get robbed.
more chance to get robbed and targeted by wearing logo hein
@@Aliceinparisofficial I don’t wear logos either. I wear comfy sweatpants, jeans, t-shirts and sneakers. Looking rich and being rich are two different things. I know a multimillionaire who wears flip flops, jeans shorts, and t-shirts with holes in them. 😂
@@Aliceinparisofficial Do you have any evidence to back that up?
I find it depressing that the goal is to look rich. Not to find the art, the inventiveness, or the innovation. Just look rich. It seems a hollow pursuit, and the death of art.
Commercial art is still art. But it's not fine art. Actually, I think its more honest.
Agreed. Her aim is to look expensive, to look rich. Which is the same aim as the market she's critiquing. Guess I'll stick to my thrift shop ensembles.
When Alice stated that Phillippe Plein is considered "the King of Bad Taste", I almost fell over laughing. That was classic and describes the line perfectly!
I felt exactly the same way.
It’s a shame how some of the once glorious fashion brands and fashion houses have lost their way. Fashion Roadman, a fashion journalist, has a TH-cam video on why many luxury brands are a waste of money. He talks about brands being bought by conglomerates who are only interested in sales and have abandoned their roots of true luxury and class. I think that once a brand is no longer under the control of its originator or the family of its originator, it’s likely to fall victim to selling out.
totally agree the more accessible the more "popular" it is the less luxury. Again luxury will be less and less about money or how expensive it is
Agree. Most recent case in the niche perfumery business - Killian 🙈 it was unique brand. Once this guy sold himself to Este Lauder conglomerate it became just another flashy-trashy maoney machine 🙄
even the old creations from 10 years ago nowadays smell so generic, that I have thrown them away 😭
@@happygoluckystar8069 killian was trashy bling-bling brand from the start tbh
All fashion houses have different styles. I love Gucci for example. She doesnt but I do. I always get Jackie bags. They are perfect. They balance perfectly.
I find videos like this hilarious. Before when most people didn’t care about luxury items Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Cartier, Van Cleef was all considered luxury because the “rich” were all see wearing it. Now that people are WORKING to make more money and are being INFLUENCED to buy these items and we have social media now it’s not luxury anymore.
These items are actually more expensive now than they were years ago ie; my keep all from 2015 - $1400 now 2023 : 2200+
Every brand has their bread and butter and the rest are trendy to catch the consumer because at the end that’s what we are. 😊
Exactly. Now that regular people are able to afford these items it's cheap and tacky. Quiet luxury (which is just another fleeting trend) is just another form of elitism.
Like a true French person, she was savage! The way she said "cheeap an tackyy" to all those designers sent me! 😂😂
@@silkbuttons I am thoroughly amused by her video. You should go elsewhere if you are not.
@@silkbuttonsWell, she is right. Go watch something else.🙄
She just says the truth 😊
LOL, I love it how you go after the Kardashians as "fashion not to follow" every time. The are responsible for all manners of distaste in this country. As the old adage goes, you can buy fashion but not style!
Actually the Kardashians do have style. They have a distinctive way of dressing that is about their personal style. They aren’t trying g to appeal to the quiet luxury people. Just be careful not to dislocate your shoulder patting yourself on the back there.
@@emerybaybluesplus as shallon Lester says, gotta appreciate a family that transformed a blowjob into all that fortune. Geniuses.
I never thought of MK as luxury. Just as a good department store brand.
I have some Michael Kors totes that I bought maybe 5-10 years ago. The quality for the price point used to be very good, especially on sale. I loved the inner pockets. Most of the bags aside from the logo-ed bags used to be genuine leather. I got some really nice bags back then that didn't scream Michael Kors. About a year ago I bought a logo-ed travel pouch like the one shown in this video to hold my passport, tickets, insurance papers, etc when I fly. The quality is decent but the strap was not leather, which was a disappointment, as my earlier logo-ed bags had lively leather trim.
As a French person I’m in accordance with Alice. We have always preferred quiet luxury and while all of those French brands are still luxury, what makes it a no-no to us in France is that it became too commercial and everybody can have it. So we go to smaller and equally qualitative brands. Personally I don’t share the info either 😂
The so-called "quiet luxury" trend is currently overdone and overhyped. You can be well-dressed and classy all while wearing Louis Vuitton. Of course, not ALL head-to-toe Vuitton or head-to-toe of any label. That has never looked good on anyone. By the way, calling Vuitton "accessible" is a joke! It is still very expensive. And, finally, why would anyone care about looking "rich"? Isn't the point trying to look GOOD instead? End of rant.
The only commentaire sensé of it all. Merci !
The YSL logo will remain one of the most beautiful and stylish logo's.
What a fun video 😄. I’ll continue to buy what I love, and wear my $7,000 Louis Vuitton (covered with LV’s) with a smile. 😊. Damn, I’m trash 😂😂
I also do not like logos, with the exception of my LV vintage backpack. I especially like to use it in the fall when I wear a lot of brown, beige, and gold.
Sophistication all the time is boring. We need flashy and tacky stuff too.
Wear whatever you like. I don’t like logos anymore but I love my LV neverfull bags - they are best workhorses and best practical tote bags ! Don’t care if it’s a tacky or bling middle class bag. I am middle class so whatever 😂
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.
Leonardo da Vinci
😂 As a typical South East Asian, I'll admit I love LV bags and have many of them, some in monogram and some in empreinte leather. So yeah 😅😅 we love LV.
Truth is most people look cheap regardless
sad but true.
It’s so much less work and less expensive to be classically elegant.
Which leads me to think people prefer to wear a garish style. It’s not for me, but live and let live.
@@jori7398 I believe you are right on both counts.
It’s too funny some middle class people “trying” to look rich with the quiet luxury trend while they are not that well-off in reality. The real rich people don’t care about any of this.
Just wear what you love and feel comfortable with. Do not try to look rich if you are not 😂.
$20,000 at GUCCI = cheap
$20,000 at The Row = Rich
Meanwhile, WALMART SHOPPERS (by these standards) = SUPER RICH 🥴 Gotta love it 😂
This video implies poor people aren't capable of having good taste. How gauche.
Absolutely not. I said you can still make six figures and still having bad taste. It is not about how rich you can be
why do we have to buy things to look rich we should buy things because not only they serve a practical purpose but they make us happy
I fully agree with this list.
Even though I'll never be able to afford any products from these fashion houses, i wouldn't want to buy those tacky and flashy monograms!
I even avoid buying anything from brands that have big logos and monograms on their products!
You are so right about what you said about these brands, the outfits are absolutely hideous and horrible. I would much rather have something which is classy without the logo. You look classy all the time 🙂
I keep seeing people taking hits at LV lately. What gives? I am quite well to do, and could buy pretty much anything, and LV is a fav for me. I buy their bags and scarves mostly and these are what I typically use on a daily basis because they are functional and durable. Period. I don't typically go for obnoxious logos, but that is just my style. I buy the solid color pieces mostly. Never an issue with quality, ever, and I consider LV a good value compared to some other brands. The snobbery in recent videos I've been seeing lately, people who think they're better than others, is just sad.
Agree 👍
I guess I will countinue to look cheap!
I feel the only reason it's considered cheap now is because people of a certain color can now afford it. It was considered high quality back then. Now since it's more accessible the value of it has now dropped. I say just wear what you like
That’s what it sounds like to me.
They do have a habit of cheapening any brand
Once a brand becomes "ghetto" it's over
I loved Bottega bags … beautiful leather and NO LOGOS 😊
Back in the 90’s 20’s I loved Louis Vuitton now I love Tod’s, Loewe, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Loro Piana. I still have a couple LV bags I love and use occasionally.
U do u..neverfull may not be luxury for u but for other people, buying neverfull is luxury to them.its just the social media.i know most people has it but it doesn’t mean its not classy.remember logo mania was a hit before and silent luxury was not that popular.well some do quite luxury are just pretending to look rich.I don’t have neverfull but do not judge people just because the trend changes.
Dear lady,
Your comments fit perfectly well. But Not everyone is "old money" and some people surprisingly have bad taste.
I would like to know why people should try too hard to look "old money" . Having a good taste and"gusto" is more than enough. Thank you. 💐
This is silly princess Diana was from noblety super rich and was dripping in logos. I have relatives that are billionaires. My mother's family had money for at least 400 years. Not everyone but most love logos. Wearing the logos of a brand you like is like wearing the sports jersey of a team you like. It is showing your love and support. Only insecure people would find that cheap. I myself is a chanel VVIP. I personally like the cc logo.I find it cute and of course, I will support chanel as an old fan
Another great video! Spot on. Thanks Alice!
There's a difference between exclusivity and luxury. Luxury is not always exclusive but you can't have exclusivity without luxury.
Luxury is exclusive by definition… it is rare (so exclusive) which justifies the price. If it is not exclusive so nothing justifies the high price tag and it is not luxury any more. It is “premium” or marketing.
@@Aliceinparisofficial I don't think luxury is what it used to be. For me, it's like the difference between a Mercedes and a Maybach. Mercedes is still luxury, yes but a lot of people have and can afford it now, so it has ceased to be an exclusive car (depending on the class) but a Maybach is exclusive by definition since much fewer people have it nor can they afford it, and with that exclusivity comes added luxury. You can literally put a premium on anything these days by virtue of "perceived value" not "real value". I suppose that's the marketing game at the end of the day😢
I love Louis Vuitton. So durable. Will never stop wearing the canvas
Agree. LV is a smart purchase, and it's why they are so popular.
@@J_LOVES_ME I feel loke the bloggers are mad because of the cost of the bags. I will always carry my Lv! i LOVE IT. Alsi they are making me hate the "quiet luxury" trend . That will soon be a thing of the past.
Ok. Let me tell u the biggest secret. Really rich ppl dont wear all those full of logos stuffs. They have they own small private brands. Lets say- clothes and accessories are made specially for them by ppl they have chosen. and they are not those designers we all often see as super duper bla bla bla. So relax here everyone . lol
Thank you for your videos! I love them ❤
Excellent perspective...once the original designers died and the luxury brand was sold off they became commercial, poorly made and represented. The same as fashion magazines...once they put Hollywood Stars on their covers instead of models the fashion inside went downhill.
First I am too poor to spend that kind of money on those kinds of items plus not get paid for advertising their product. Next I have never been a logo person. I rather spend money on quality not name, nor something that lasts one season. I totally agree with your opinion.
I'm not rich and I don't know anything about fashion, but one of the worst examples I can think of is Armani. Many years ago I used to think of Armani as high-end Italian fashion, like well tailored suits for businessmen. Now you see teenagers and wannabe gangsters running around in Armani.
A woman should not aspire to look rich, that is unclassy.
Itis good to get some tips and hear her views on the brand. But it is annoying to hear “If you want to look rich. Sophisticated and classy” I believe a lot of people want to have that classy and sophisticated look, BUT TO LOOK RICH? Lol you are wrong. So can you kindly drop that line please….. sounds so bad and you make fashion lover people, pretentious people!
Clear, concise so very true. Thank you for informative enjoyable videos.
Thank you for the advice !
I love this woman. She’s so polite, cutthroat, and I completely agree with her list. People have no clue how tacky they look in LV and Gucci garbs, bags, and shoes.
Well, we also can think the "no logos" and the "quiet luxury" is just a tendency... as everything in fashion.
I am not rich at all, in fact right now, I am kinda poor, BUT, I still will never wear big loud logos, I have always been drawn to simple and classic clothes, it's all about the quality and design of the overall piece. I like black and simple. I have a vintage Delvaux bag, I bought it because the shape of the bag was simple and bold, the logo is pretty invisible, and that's how I like it!
I have NEVER like the ‘Neverfull’ of Louis Vuitton.
I have always thought that it looked ‘tacky’. :::
I’m guilty of having a LV Never Full. I’ve had it for years and the reason that I keep using it is because it’s never full lol
I used my neverfull as a diaper bag for my kids and loved it. It’s still in perfect condition but I rarely carry it now since I don’t have to haul a survival kit around anymore. Will save it for my daughter since I bought it at the flagship store in Paris and it has a special lining.
Don’t feel guilty. At the end of the day: if you like it and can afford it, buy it and use it! It’s not one of LVs recent bags that although logoless, just look tacky and confused.
Some of those designs are very frightening. 😮
Dark and sinister.
Very good advice, thank you. Love the truthfulness.
Great video but you did not pronounce Moschino correctly.
This was a great list, love it!
I agree with most of this list. We have to look at LVMH as the catalyst to most of the decline of luxury brands. One key thing that I’d change is that I’d leave Michael Kors off the list as I don’t really think anyone except the ultra poor considers them to be luxury. Kors is one of the most common labels you’ll find in stores like TJ Maxx and Ross, etc. I’d have gone with Alexander McQueen or Supreme in that spot.
Exzellent informative video, thank you!
But still, all those brands mentioned on the video are still very expensive and unaffordable for most of the population
Wear what you like ! life is yours Do You
About 8 years ago I was working in jewelry sales , a group of young girls come in and ask if we sell the Kim Kardashian bangle bracelet ? I said pardon me ? To my knowledge the Kardashian clan does not make jewelry “
lol after asking a few more questions .. what they were describing was the Cartier love bangle …. I said in the future never confuse “ Cartier “ with Kardashian “
Alice,
I am so happy I found your channel. You are so sophisticated. I value your perspective very much. I also completely adore your accent. Merci!
Le Capucine de Louis Vuitton n’est ni accessible, ni cheap. Pareil pour le Dionysus de Gucci.
I agree with everything you say, Alice. Those once great fashion houses were exploited and destroyed by greedy owners with no love for quality and true creativity. I can’t remember since when but I avoid “in your face” logo and form because I do not want to be associated with people who sport those vulgar items. Still, shoppers are queuing on the street to get in LV and Gucci, etc. So sad...
Oh I’m SAD. I have a lot of LV monogram. All beautiful no speedy or never full. But I feel so foolish.
Wow... the content of your heart sounds tacky!
True luxurious fabrics don't have brand names or logos.
The price tag doesn't denote quality; it's the fabric that truly matters. For instance, wool is often associated with luxury and quality.
The costliness lies not in the brand or logo, but in the fabric itself; what exemplifies luxury is Linen: Linen was a common fabric used for clothing. It was known for its durability and was often associated with purity and luxury.
Wool was also commonly used for clothing and was associated with warmth and comfort.
Silk: Though less common than linen and wool, silk is mentioned in the Bible as a luxurious fabric associated with wealth and royalty.
Fine Twined Linen: This is a specific type of linen mentioned in the Bible, often used for priestly garments and associated with purity and sanctity.
Fine Linen: Another type of linen mentioned, typically used for the clothing of wealthy individuals or ceremonial purposes.

Occasionally, you can get some chic Rick Owens items. So not necessarily to avoid. Maybe just not mainstream.

I 'm pleased to have found you Alice, I thought exactly the same about many brands you have mentioned in your video, my opinion was exactly the same, cannot imagine myself wasting money on something which is not worth it like LV bags, it is so unwise to do it, really enjoyed your video,
so agree with you
’Rick Owens’….
Never heard of him! :::
Funny how we want to tell people how to wear and we want everyone to wear Grey black and nude
Thank´s, it is so true!!!
Thank you so much for your honesty. If someone wants me to advertise their logos, they should pay me. I’m not going to pay them.
A lot of the ostentatious style and design’s roots can be traced back to the birth of hip hop in the 80s. Where artist of lower means that suddenly became successful, were expressing themselves with garish jewelry and apparel. Hence, streetwear was born and has influenced fashion since.
I have and enjoy old LV bags. The quality is amazing. I can't speak to the new ones, mine are over 25 years old. Moschino, Dsquared, Michael Kors and Philip Pllein are not and have never been luxury. They are 'fashion'. I feel sad for Balenciaga. Mr. Cristobal is rolling in his grave right now over what is going on there. Appalling.
The only way to enjoy the real LV is to buy Vintage. Balenciaga and Balmain are dead
@@Aliceinparisofficial I sadly agree
Being multi millionaire just means you can retire. It doesnt make you rich. Luxury doesnt mean you're mega wealthy. It just means certain things are worth it to you. No one, but no one can tell very wealthy person by their clothing. Usually if you can spot very wealthy people it's because their teeth are capped. I swear they all cap their teeth. Maybe they dont brush or something. But you cant tell by looking at clothing, and I dont think they would tell you if you asked them on the street. Why would they. Someone could wear logos from head to toe and be super wealthy. Someone could be wearing all neutrals with no logo and be middle class. All you know is they probably aren't homeless.
I can’t stand LV bags. It’s the standard status symbol for suburban moms

What’s up with this trend of buying "quiet luxury"? My most complimented on pieces and outfits are not the most expensives, but the best translations of my personnal style. And those maisons you named do have a selection of quite beautiful and unique items !
100% on point
Can we talk about Chanel? Apart from their classics, everything seasonal is just bad bad taste.
I could not agree more! I took was expecting they'd pop up in this video.
Spot on
💯 Alice! Awesome video & thank you for speaking the truth. I know we all have different tastes, but flashy logos, clothes that are way too revealing & a lot of random bling (& any other pathetic attempts to get attention like $$ trash bag bags & decomposing shoes) scream new money and zero class (along with a big dose of stupidity in the cases of the shoes that look like you found them in a landfill!) I think a lot of these overpriced, tacky brands are laughing at, if not mocking, their consumers.
Every brand with big logos makes you look cheap.
Totally agree with the list but Moschino pronounce - M-o-s-k-i-n-o, I know in French you don’t pronounce ch as [ch]
I agree with everything but the thing is not everyones style and character is chic or sophisticated or classy not everyone wants to be quite luxury for example hip hop culture style . And many of the brands that you mentioned are meant for the younger crowd no 22 year old wants to look classy it considered as boring in their age. But overall Classy is just one way of style ! Otherwise we only would have classy style and everybody would look the same like robots . Thats why the quite luxury trend was not authentic and it looks fake .
When I see these overpriced brands I think of someone who is insecure and must seek validation by paying too much.
When I was in the hospital there was a man in handcuffs being escorted out by the police. He was wearing one of those pajama like suits all covered in a Fendi or LV type logos, and I thought, how typical. Low class trying to be upper class.
thank you! what about loewe, its belts and small lv belt? a be;t with a tiny lv logo
check my video anout quiet luxury belt
Moschino with that 90s Native American headdress motif... wow, that sure didn't age well. So very offensive. Interesting video!
I love Gucci. Their bags dont disappoint. And most Gucci things dont have logo. Although my favorite comfiest bad is a Guccissima bag. If people think Im trying to look rich, they can think what they like. Im not going to stop wearing what I like. In fact, Ive worn it so hard, Im going to have to get a new shoulder strap for it, so it has to go to the doctor. I'll never stop wearing it. I think its lucky.
they win THE AWARD OF TACKINESS
