blue buff makes it so your carry on almsot every cast gains 10 mana and their ability costs 10 mana less, while having more starting mana. Thats like, 6 autos man
My confusion with the logic is that they don't want it being necessary for any specific champs, but now it's just so bad that nobody wants it. Blue buff is better in most situations

since spells are the only thing that separated champions (fight me), i slam spear on every fun carry i find. cmon, augment say: "something something and gets 60 ap." so i want to use the ap, therefore spells as much as possible, so i need mana.... and spellcrit. all these augments call for it.
It’s not even that bad I don’t mind it at all. It’s still good it’s just not “slam on whatever” people that play this game complain so much. I’ve played since it was released, hit plat every set and nothing has ever made me want to whine and complain.
People are complaining because if the core item for high mana champions is bad it makes them less playable in higher skill lobbies meaning the meta is more stale. Those complaints are mostly focused at higher elo rather than lower elos like plat where even if the core items are bad you can likely make a carry still because the lobby will be weaker at all stages of the game.
It would take a Shojin unit 15 autos to get the same mana that blue buff gets you *immediately*, not even counting the 10 mana discount or the 10 mana refund blue buff would get you otherwise. Shojin is terrible.

A reminder that your one and personal experience does not reflect at all the state of the game and what you're only telling us here is "shame on you for complaining about things I don't complain about". If you're having fun, good for you. But people don't complain for no reason. People don't just "whine" for nothing. Players that have complaints, who are likely much better than most of us here, ask for changes because they value balance. They value that some items should not just be dead items (like Locket). That items that require heavily contested components should not be dogshit. The game improves when people see aspects of the game that are not good enough. Set 7.5, the main complaint is the lack of flexibility. In Set 8, players much better than us are already saying that it's a flexible Set. That you can pivot and play around the units that you want without feeling locked to build a certain way. The introduction of Threat units are by far a better upgrade compared to Dragons, which takes up too much space on your board and forces you to play around them. With Threats, you can do both. Play around or use them to amplify the comp you're playing. That's flexibility. And this is why "whining" or what I simply call feedback is important

shojin is good only on Kai Sa imo, blue buff is otherwise a better choice

To be fair tho, it was really stupid to get 3.3 mana pr attack - but delayed.
Soraka works great with a shojin, 3 autos and she casts i think
