  • Sometimes a car just calls your name. This was one of those moments. Ever since selling my old 60 Electra225 convertible, I thought this would fit the bill. Decent little project that I plan on taking you along with me...hope you enjoy!

    Hi Adam, my name is Gilbert. I have the same 60 Buick Electra, except mine is the base model. I've had it for 40 years now. Good luck with your 60 Buick, nice to see you have the same car as me, 60 was the first year of the tri shield emblem in front, mine is sable black original gloss black lacquer paint. I rebuilt the engine when I was 17 years old and still runs like a champ, I got the interior done, headliner, seats, dash, rug, it's a very nice daily driver. This one is my baby of my classic car collection. I also have a 65 Buick Riviera, Sea Foam green. Love your videos on repairing classics, thank you.

    That's a really special car! Love the color combo of blue inside and gold on the outside. You know nobody else has one like that!
    The previous owner really set you up for this car and beyond here.
    Fwiw, it really doesn't need much at all to be the best cruiser pretty quick!

    Much respect for you, and what you do. I grew up working in my father's body shop from the time I was old enough to push a broom. God bless you for the smile you still have on your face!

    Good information on the wheel bolts. I’ll have to check to see if my 61 has the same configuration.

    wish I still had some of my fathers' old Buicks. '58 Buick Roadmaster, '63 Wildcat convertible, '69 Rivera, & '77 Limited Electra,, After that things started running south. Thank you for what you do preserve a piece of history.

    Fabulous possibilities with this one. Love the fact that the 6 window roof is shared with Cadillac. Oldsmobile had to wait until 1961 to get their turn which was a major upgrade in my opinion.

      @@antiqueautomotiveservice When I had my car lot the upholstery guys always refused to insert old material due to some kinda fading and the stitching being fatigued from age. In this case the material needed isn't that expensive as y'all won't need that much. BTW, what does Simon have to say about all of this?

    It needs a frame off restoration. I had a 60 Le Sabre 2 door bubble top. If this was a 2 door hardtop. I would not mind taking on this project. But being 4door Electra, I would pass on this one.

    In my youth I had a pristine black Buick1960 Electra 225 jewel. Except mine was the 4-window version (the "space car look") rather than the more conventional 6-window version seen in this video. And mine had factory air, to top it off. Sadly, the engine eventually needed a valve job and in those days, restoration was not commony done on older Amercian cars. My next car (in the fuel conscious 1970s) was a Volvo. Shame on me!

      I had never had an issue up to this point. Looks like I have a new tire shop now, though. It still baffles me that a big name shop couldn't figure out how to set the beads on these, when the mom and pop shop had the right stuff to do it in 10 minutes....for all 4 tires LOL

      @antiqueautomotiveservice  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It took quite a while to sort through it for sure. I was able to get it back on the road and happy again, though. The 225 Riviera hardtop was the top of the line, more expensive than the flat top. So if you bought this new, you were doing well.

      I think it all depends on what the buyer is willing to pay. This was advertised for 6500 and I inquired. Seller was very forthcoming about issues and we agreed on a price that was fair.

    In my opinion one should go with NOS materials for the interior. More than anything, the interior gives a car its vintage vibe. Seeing modern materials in the interior greatly detracts from a car.

      Engine oil is a weird thing...you'll have 50 opinions about it. I try to stick to something in the 10w40 range, but make sure it has high zinc content for flat tappet cams.
      Transmission fluid...dextron or equivalent.
