The Pat McAfee show is the only sports show I watch consistently. It’s not only his enthusiasm, but him and his crew have great insight and chemistry, and I feel like he reminds people that sports are meant to be fun, both for the players and the spectators!
THIS!!! got to meet him when gameday came to app state. He's truly a very nice guy and loves his job to death. If my mountaineers can get it together again over the next few years we'd love to have him back in boone again
@4:11 - I believe this might be the play that he was telling a story about, he thought he was going to hit the blocker hard enough to send him flying into the ball carrier😂 Instead he had to hear about it for not just trying to go after the ball carrier
Pat helped set a new standard in WWE for what wrestling fans expect from celebrities. They've always had celebrities, but they used to just do a couple awkward interactions and be gone. Pat went all out, in matches and on commentary. Him, Johnny Knoxville, Bad Bunny, and Logan Paul have all absolutely nailed it for celebrities crossing over into WWE.
I always got the impression McAfee was the sort of player who, as a youngster, became a kicker because he was really good at kicking, whereas a lot of kids probably get relegated to that job because they aren't good at other parts of the game. He was absolutely competent at other facets of the game, and he loved a chance to show that off. Besides, your kicker makes a super explosive tackle, suddenly all your defensive guys are like "we gotta step it up, we can't let the kicker have the highlight reel tackle!"
He was a major soccer talent and I think had scholarships to play soccer. But the football team needed a kicker so they didnt even make him go to practice because he had soccer he'd show up for game days if I remember him teling the story correctly. Then he got a full ride at WVU and was a FG kicker. He got drafted as a punter somehow from that and they asked if he could hold and he said definitely but never held in his life and his kicker was a legend in adam vinitari. So he went to a camp to learn before the season and the rest is history haha.
You also got correct information. Is affiliated with the WWE… however he takes a break from the company during football season every year in order to focus on football news. During that time he host his podcast which is also on ESPN, hosts college Gameday --the intro to college football games and appears on multiple other shows to cross promote ESPN. Pat will return to focus on WWE broadcasting in January . He still frequently has guests from the WWE on his show to help promote large events…
More, “…he played varsity soccer, volleyball and football. He received collegiate interest for each sport. He was a national Punt, Pass, and Kick champion by the time he was a sophomore in high school. During his senior year in high school, using $1,400 that he won at an illegal poker game, he traveled to Miami to participate in a national field goal competition.”
He's probably a guy who played multiple positions in high school, so he's still got the ability to tackle guys. He could probably be big and strong enough to play on the defense, but he's probably not fast enough.
Daz I love your videos mate! You guys absolutely need to react to Brian Cushing when he played for Houston, he was an absolute lunatic. You would love it. Cheers.
You guys should check out his highlights from "The soccer tournament" he had a pretty dope assist! JJ Watt played with team Burnley too think his wife suited up and captain'd their women's team
I love Pat. I don’t always agree with his politics but that’s okay. I love his work ethic and his attitude. He’s hilarious. I love that he doesn’t take himself too seriously. He wants sports to be fun. He’s great.
Lived in Indy for 47 years and remember when Pat first got to Indy. He has a great story about getting drunk and jumping in the canal in Broadripple (the popular area full of bars). Saw his first show at the Murat in downtown Indy, too, and it was pretty good. Only met him once, and he is that guy you see on TV. You should definitely check out that crazy drunken canal swimming story and arrest, it's hilarious.
gotta watch the video of when he got to announce the Colts' draft pick like five years ago. the draft was in Nashville and he trolled the shit out of the Titans.
Great punter and just a fun player. I think Indy fell in love with him when his rookie season, he got drunk and got arrested swimming in the canal in Broad Ripple.
3:20 keep in mind that the dude he tackles here was one of the fastest in the league at the time. McAfee just got the correct angle and smashed that dude lol
Forget his current show and analysis, look up some of his older show when he tells stories about playing with Peyton Manning and being on the team. He tells the best stories that are hysterical.
Cody Rhodes is the American Nightmare. Pat McAfee while introducing a pick on behalf of the Colts at the NFL draft roasted the Tennesse Titans fans in attendance by saying he didn't punt much against the Titans. He fake punted against them instead.😀
I’m not sure if he has the record but I know he attempted to break the record for the fastest soccer shot. It’s online somewhere but it was well over 100mph
Crazy to say this.. but you guys have watched a TONNN of MLB from what I've seen today.. and i seen a video of you reacting to what looked like some of the worst headshots possible.. How would the 2 of you manage.. at reacting to an MLB nut shot fails video? Think it's the only thing you've not done thats besides several injuries 👀
Adin should walk on/Try out to a College team for a Kicker or Punter. Of course you might not be able to play for the Alabama's, or Oregon's, or Penn State's immediately, but you can start off at smaller school. NCAA Football has a shortage of good Kickers/Punters. If you think you can boot kicks, or pin them inside their own 10 yard line try out and get a scholarship.
He's a great athlete that hated running. That's why he gave up on soccer and pursued American football. Watching this video, you can see how slow he runs in comparison to the other players. In the NFL, even the "big linemen" are "fast." He'd be way too slow to play any other NFL position.
McAfee is a great personality, and was a tremendous punter…, But he wasn’t perfect. He definitely got scored on, including by Julian Edelman… He was also indirectly a part of what is widely considered to be the worst play in NFL history… Indianapolis Colts, versus New England Patriots, the punt that shouldn’t have been.
