Another beautiful video! Speaking of birdsong, I started using the Merlin bird app after you talked about it last month. It has identified almost 20 species of birds outside my home who I now sit with each morning with a cup of tea. I listen, I write, I wonder…and I’ve started incorporating birds into my spiritual/tarot practice. Doing card pulls to bring in that beautiful bird energy. It’s been powerful! How wonderful that you got to spend such a magical time with your son on the camping trip! Your videos/photos are stunning! I just spent 3 days in Monterey CA with 2 of my sons, so I know how special that is. The cottonwood ritual/altar in your backyard was so beautiful! So inspiring! And I loved your leaf rubbing. So much to love in this video!
Thank you for your kind words! I am so glad you enjoyed my May catch up, and that you are incorporating birds into your practice! That is amazing you identified 20 different birds! Wow 🤩 How wonderful you got to spend some time with your sons...sounds like a beautiful place to be together ❤️🥰
That's one of my favorite star cards. We used to live near a tribe of cottonwoods. Still miss them. This was a particularly delightful catch-up. Can relate to the tree/druidcentric points of focus. Love all the running water as well. 💙
Hi! Glad you appreciated the catch-up. I think the Herbcrafter's Star card is one of my favorites, too! How lovely you used to to live by a family of cottonwoods! I would miss them too ❤
This was such a beautiful monthly recap 😊 I'm glad you had a lovely Mother's Day celebration with your son! I've been using the Merlin app you mentioned in your last video and it's been really helpful, thank you for the recommendation 💚 I've been hearing so many birds singing and it's really a delight! I was weeding out some more patches of the garden just yesterday... it's never-ending 😅 I love how you found a connection between the heather and bee cards, I love it when creators bring things together like that, to me it adds more richness to the deck ✨✨✨ and omg your plant journal is so beautiful and neat! You are so amazing with crafts, the leaf pressing and with things you've shown in other videos 😍 thanks for sharing these life snippets with us! 🌳
I am so glad you found the Merlin app helpful, too! I have been using it all the time, it is so exciting to connect the birdsongs with the birds, as we don't always get a chance to see who is singing, since they often do so from the height and camouflage of the trees! Weeding is truly never ending 😅 I have taken to the approach "small areas each day" during the week, and then I can enjoy the weekend garden times more! I am just so grateful to have a place to tend 💗 Thank you for your kind words about my creative outlets... I am trying to make room for more time to find ways to use my hands and engage in those ways ✨
Haha! I've been there with a deck giving a super challenging reading straight away. I usually end up getting rid of decks that are serial offenders 😂. The Mother's day camping holiday sounded lovely. I've never actually been camping, although I really like the idea of it. The view of the river looks amazing! I can imagine sitting there was really powerful, running water really is a balm for the soul. I enjoyed seeing your deck choices. The animal and plant deck looked really good mixed together! The Orphic Hymns are wonderful, it's really cool that you're memorising the Hekate one. Sadly, I only recite the hymns because my singing voice could literally crack glass 😂.
I hope Pagan Otherworlds doesn't become a repeat offender 😱🤣 Maybe it was just letting me know it wasn't the time😜 Camping has been a huge part of my life, but I require a good bit of gear (especially in the bedding department, to be comfortable!). Once I get everything packed, I need to go for at least a couple nights for all the packing to be worth it! I think my singing voice is decent, but I sense that it is the effort that counts! 😆
Sweet puppy! Mine also makes frequent appearances in my videos. Dancing the maypole at school with flower crowns sounds incredible. Now that you mention it, I did see many of my younger students creating clover crowns at the beginning of May. I don't think they were doing it intentionally to celebrate Beltane, but it seems as if there's something deeper inside of us that remembers when we once held to seasonal changes. Your Mother's Day camping trip seems so idyllic! I'm glad that you had a great time and got to spend this occasion with your son. ☺️ I wish that I didn't do the Year in the Wildwood or that I at least allowed myself space to step back from it sooner. It was hard for me to follow that study from the very beginning due to the fact that my climate is vastly different from Great Britain's. However, next time I visit my husband's family in New England, I'm definitely bringing Wildwood along and giving it the second chance it deserves, especially since the 3 of Pentacles (Creativity) is one of my top 10 favorite cards of all time. It seems like the perfect deck to use in the mountains with trees that have stood the test of time (and are still doing so by evolving into new forms even through decay). ❤ Terra Botanical is the deck that I use to connect to the spirits of place and my own ancestors. ❤ My heart fills with joy every time I think of it. I cannot recommend it highly enough to you. The guidebook is small yet mighty, and its black and white pallette leaves room for you as the reader to step inside the world at any time of the year. I highly recommend reading The Path of Druidry. Reading it alongside studying the plant and animal oracles was one of the most memorable activities I participated in last year. Leaf pressing is a wonderful idea! I will have to do that this month! I love how you matched the imagery of the Herbcrafter's star to your own ritual. What a beautiful symbol for the month. ❤ My tree of the month is an invasive yet stunning one - The mimosa tree. When I sat down to pick them, I wanted those with strong childhood ties for me. ❤ You have inspired me to set up an altar by my childhood one this month. Thank you so much for sharing! I loved watching this! 😊
Hi! Aw, you have a doggie, too! They are the sweetest beings 💗 I realized after I posted this video, my pup is past due for a nail trim 😆 I totally understand how our own location would shape what decks would feel seasonal! It is a huge factor for me, too. Somehow the PNW ancient forest vibes with the ancient lands of the Wildwood for me. Light path working helps me a good bit...I really love to "step into" the world of a deck, as if I am just a visitor...it is almost like a story being told. I could see how an intensive deep dive right away might make it a challenge to connect with a deck! I have a bit of Demand Avoidance (as we all do to some degree 🙃) and I often have to skim through deck "workbooks" to glean what works for me 😆...3 of Stones/ Creativity is a beautiful card! I hope the Wildwood works out for you next time 🌲I will look into the Terra Botanical (I love a good guidebook!), and The Path of Druidry...thank you for the recommendations! You inspired me to do the leaf pressing with all your flower bookmarks and inclusions 😁 I love Mimosa trees!! I will look forward to hearing about your journey. They thrive in this climate, as well, and remind me so much of the South. An herbalist friend of mine made a beautiful glycerite extract from the flowers that she would add to sparkling water. We also have crepe myrtles in our neighborhood, and I love walking past them and catching their scent on the wind. Their bark is so smooth and therapeutic to touch! I miss so many Southern trees, and it is a treat when I encounter them here (some neighbors also have a saw palmetto and a giant magnolia). I am pretty sure they must be from the South! Thanks for watching and sharing your experiences 💗
Hi! I'm so glad you let me know that you replied. I've got to sort out this notification mess. It's driving me crazy. 😅 I'm in the process of brainstorming for a new video in which I discuss unconventional Tarot meanings and the decks that shaped those unconventional meanings for me. I realized while brainstorming that WW *significantly* impacted the way I see the Strength card. I did end up pulling it out this week and read through the skimmed through the guidebook, so I think it's back in rotation for now. :) If anything, it taught me an important lesson - I can't have too many "winter" decks in my collection since it's such a short season here! I decided last week that I'd extend my mimosa studies into July since I had a *very* difficult time finding trees in locations I could meditate in and/or harvest from. I onlg just found one this past Tuesday! That's okay, though. I, too, can have demand avoidance, so I think the best way to stay on track is to adapt to circumstances and add additional time as necessary. I still had a great time this month visiting the largest loblolly pine in the world, so I'd say it was still a tree study month overall. ❤ Crape myrtles are truly a staple here. I have a gorgeous white one in my front garden that the mockingbirds just adore. I love when they shed their bark, and their canopy is stunning to sit under with its bright green leaves. I have never heard of using any part of the tree medicinally, so thanks for the heads up that they can be used in that way! I LOVE harvesting from my own home. 😊 I didn't pick a magnolia this year for formal study, but I am itching to harvest some flowers from a tree in the park and press them. I don't know yet what I'd do with a flower the size of my head, but it would be beautiful indeed. 😂 Sorry for the delay. 😅 I'm glad you let me know this was here!
@@MoonflowerMoments That loblolly pine must have been incredible! Yes, magnolia flowers are huge 😂To clarify, regarding medicinal uses, it was the mimosa flowers my friend had tinctured, not Crape Myrtle (though would be interesting to research if there are any uses there, though!). I look forward to your unconventional meanings video...what a great topic. 🥰
@@Calluna.V, yes, it was! On the same trip, we tried to see the oldest cypress in North America (they exist in the same town - the place my dad grew up and he's never seen either!). Unfortunately, the path was closed. Next time. 🫡 oops, I am glad that you clarified. 😆😆😆 I'll have to read up and see if there are any medicinal properties for it. If not, I love the flowers so much that I've honestly considered making bath satchel with them. 💖
You’re making me want to pull out my Will Worthington decks! That’s so thoughtful provoking, what you said re: bears and our connection to them. Side note: we often refer to our cat as a bear, a little bear cub 😂 Speaking of animals, that photo of your dog cracked me up, that is an amazing shot, what personality ❤ and again: your camping trip sounds perfect. I really want to visit the PNW and spend some time with the trees 🥹 ❤
I love that you refer to your cat as a little bear cub 🥹 Yes, that photo of my dog makes me laugh, too! It captures his quirky, adorable energy. He was just emerging from a nap under the comforter, looking ready for the next event of the day 😂 Thank goodness for the sweet and silly animal friends in our lives to keep us smiling 😊 I would recommend a Will Worthington vacation to anyone who is called to do so! I hope one day you will get to have a PNW visit with the trees...you know who can host you! 🌲💚🪵
What a nifty incense holder. I've been looking for a good one that's closed like that to keep the smoke more contained. I love how the Wildwood looks with the Druid Animal/Plant. I have them all but have not used them together yet. Interestingly, Pagan Otherworlds is one I tend to gravitate towards for ancestor work but I think I will try Wildwood too. I've been looking into bear mythology recently as well since I learned about the goddess Artio. The bear's hibernation in winter and emergence in spring reminds me a lot of Persephone's descent/ascent. Thank you for sharing your month, it was so lovely to see as usual 🥰💖
The closed incense holder really does cut down on the amount of smoke, which I really like! Pagan Otherworlds is so beautiful, and I can see it working well for an ancestral deck! I have a crush on the Emperor in that one 😊 I hope it goes easy on me next time I use it...though maybe it heard The Wildwood calling, too 😆 I am not familiar with Artio, I am curious now! Love the interwoven connection you found with Persephone's mythology...very intriguing! Thanks for watching and commenting. By the way, I love the candles I got...so good!! 💚🌲
