    Hey mate, great video. I bought the same camera for my 10th gen civic and watching vids on installs. I second Pete's comment about the fuse tap needing to go into the fuse box a specific orientation. Only one side of the fuse socket on the fuse box gives power, so just probe it to see which one gives power and the fuse taps outside blade goes into the socket with power.
    It's recommended to avoid using fuses that power inportant stuff like brakes & clusters etc. Use things like cig/aux for ACC power and power mirrors or radio for BAT power.

      Now that I have my 2024 BRZ I have to say both Lachs fuse taps need to be rotated 180 degrees as the near side of fuse tap (side with the wire leading away) is plugged into the powered side of the fuse socket.
      That said I don’t think there’s anything wrong with plugging a fuse tap into the brake lights.. I know people will strongly disagree but when you plug a fuse tap in to the socket you’re creating two circuits and the original fuse circuit is virtually isolated from anything that may happen to the new secondary circuit which has its own fuse and protection.
      But no harm going for dome light if it makes someone feel better..

    I got a door ding soon after your video. It was meant to be.
    I've got a BlackVue too but the parking mode cuts off quite quickly because my voltage was too low. Good to keep in mind if you're not driving it often or only short distances.
    BlackVue have battery packs which would fix the issue. But personally I'm not comfortable having batteries in my car in the Australian heat.

    • @00Lach

      Aw man I've cursed you 🥲 Hope the damage isn't too bad man. I'll have to keep an eye out on the parking mode and see if it cuts out or not. I do a few short trips to the gym, etc.

    I installed the 770x last week in my my13 wrx hatch and so far so good but in reply to you both, I took note of the fuse tap direction after watching another Aussie install also but I removed the supplied fuse cases but made sure the end of the taps were at the powered point of the fuse. In Lach’s install he didn’t remove the supplied fuses, so I’m sure he won’t have any issues.
    Thanks for the intel guys. It helped make my install successful. 👍

      Thanks mate. I believe I have the fuse taps in the correct orientation after doing more research however, you're right in saying it doesn't matter with my case as I have inline glass fuses on the camera wiring anyways. 😎

    At 12:20 I’m concerned about the curtain airbag in the pillar.. if you just push the dashcam wires under the plastic cover what happens to it if the air bag needs to deploy? I’m wiring my dc in soon but I plan to dc the battery and wait a while for the airbag capacitors to discharge and then take the pillar shielding off and run the dc cable behind the airbag (just at the top) and then run it down as normal.. that way if the airbag needs to deploy it won’t be restricted and/or destroy the dc as it rips the cable out.
    Good attempt nonetheless mate. 👍🏼

  • @petetherealrelentless6542
    @petetherealrelentless6542 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Loch at 8:15 wouldn’t you need to test which side of the fuse socket is the active side and then plug the far side of the fuse tap into side.. I would think the power is potentially not going across the fuse(s) if you plug in the near side of the fuse tap into the powered side of the fuse socket. There’s two ways those fuse taps can go and only one orientation would seem to be correct.

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Fuses run in any direction so you don't need to test which side is which. 😎

    • @petetherealrelentless6542
      @petetherealrelentless6542 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@00Lachyeh fuses do as in they’re not diodes but look at the tap itself.. if you plug the fuse tap in the wrong way (obviously only two ways it can go in, only one way is correct.. the other way could lead to disaster) so the near side plugs into the side of the socket that actually supplies power then power will go directly down that wire without having to go across the fuse.. so effectively at least one of those circuits is direct wired without a fuse.

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@petetherealrelentless6542 Ah I get you. Okay I'll have to check that and make sure I know which side is positive and negative on the box

      @petetherealrelentless6542 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@00Lach all good mate just throw a test light over the fuse socket.. the far side of that fuse tap leg goes into the socket that’s supplying the power.
      Also do give some thought to the airbag/cable routing.. those things expand and go off like crazy so it’s hard to predict what will happen if it goes off but worse case that cable and the dashcam are now potentially in play at high speed. I believe any legit pro installer would route cable behind the airbag.. give it some thought mate. 👍🏼

    Did you use a 5amp or a 7.5amp for the tapped fuse? (The one that goes into the camera)

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      What do you mean? I used 5amp fuses for both switched and constant power. But they don't really matter as the camera comes with inline glass fuses which are rated to 1-2amps anyways so you'll still protect the camera in case of a power surge.

    How does a dash cam show you who tapped your door with their door ? It’s not a 360 camera not sure the actual point of it is besides front or back collision near misses etc

    • @00Lach
      @00Lach  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It records all the motion in front and back so if I come back to the car and see a door ding or whatever then I can look back through the camera and see who parked next to me. It also has a mic and can pick up sound but I'm not sure how sensitive it is to something like that.

      Depends how bad it is I'd say. If you have the details of the car and the footage then you submit it to your insurance company and they do the rest. If the other person doesn't have insurance then that's where you lose and have to pay your excess
