- The Fix-It Felix Jr Arcade game is an odd choice to include in the Arcade Classics toy line considering it didn't come from the classic arcade era. However, that doesn't mean that we're not going to grab it up and review it! Join Jon as he walks us through all the bells and whistles to see if this machine is faithful to the full size arcade machine, or if we should leave it on the brick pile.

It's really cool to see the game in the movie, made...into an actual game! I like that!

Actually when I were to Disney land and I saw the actual game and it was the size of a regular arcade
They definitely manufactured cabinets to represent the game from the film, but there's no de facto version of the game against which to compare this.

I played this for almost 3 days not realizing it was modern and I was super convinced I had seen it before. I've been playing this and donut dodo lately. I have the atgames legends mini. It has fix it Felix night into it.
It's certainly authentic enough to be that convincing! 😀
This was kinda my idea…as a kid who loved video games when wreck it Ralph hit theaters I printed out fix it Felix jr art that I found online and taped it to my bootleg 400 in 1 mini arcade cabinet and when I saw this in Walmart in 2019 or somethine around there I just knew I had to buy it I couldn’t believe they made an official one !
One to play, one to keep new in box, one for the kids and 2 to resell on eBay for $80 a pop! 😀

This does look like just a minor update to the Flash browser version: There are a few extra sound effects, the ending cutscene had its animation framerates evened out to better match the timing of the arcade version, and there's a new font done in larger pixels to match the graphics. I wonder if anyone has tried extracting the code from this yet!
Unfortunately on this version felix only faces right, I've played other versions where he does indeed face left when moving in that direction.
For sure, Matt. What a weird state, though, since there really is no "official" or "original" version of FIFJ: it's completely fictional! But even so, I'd expect sprite flipping shouldn't have been all that hard. Thanks for watching!
@ISOHaven There is a version in a cabinet, for sure, but even that doesn't match the rules of the game as it appears in the film. My point is, there never was an original game in the arcades, so everything is fabricated to more or less match what appears in the movies.

Heh. The subscribe animation is a graphic, not a real-time statistic. I chose a number much larger than what we currently have so it wouldn't be outdated any time soon. I'm happy that you think GenXGrownUp should be bigger, and I hope one day that the graphic will be outdated. Viewers like you can make that happen. Well... people now actually made a arcade machine of Fix-it Felix Jr in real life, so it became real now.
Indeed. And by "people," you mean Disney. They produced hundreds of FIFJ cabinets to promote the films.

This almost looks like a remake or port of sorts of specifically the flash version, with some sound from the PC version added in
After poking about on the webs after I heard Disney had commissioned real cabinets to pro.ote the first movie, I found a playable version to download. Even the Basic Fun version is a decent play. To me it's worth a purchade.
That's for sure, OI. Those were popping up all over the place in 2012-13 around the time of the first film. Of all the weird different ways you can play this "fake" game, you could certainly do worse than the BF one.

To be honest, the Jump button isn't really necessary. The jump button is there in the arcade game but doesn't really do anything. You're usually are maneuvering Felix to avoid obstacles instead.
Also, the game most resembles the arcade version of the game vs. other versions of the game (onscreen, Flash, mobile, etc.) , but is clearly a port.
It's been a while since I played, but isn't the jump button needed in later levels to hop over chunks of brick that block your path?
@@GenXGrownUp I think so . However. I've found that the jump isn't nearly as responsive as it needs to be for it to be effective vs. the brick piles. I've found the best strategy is to go around them entirely, if possible, or sacrificing a Felix to remove the obstruction.
Of course, all of the above is based on the leaked EXE I have in my MAME cabinet. I've never had the fortune to play the final version of the software that was found in the actual cabinets manufactured for Disney's parks.
Is there a bonus level with the Q*bert characters like in the movie?
LOL! Sadly, no. That was a great gimmick at the end of WIR, but not a part of FIFJ.

Do you mean MAME? There is no MAME ROM for FIFJ since it wasn't a real arcade machine. As such, MAME doesn't support. The version here is actually quite good.

These were trash is all they were who wants to play NES games if you really wanted these games you were better off buying the numskull 1/4 scale arcade from numskull quarter arcades real arcade games

Double-checked. Numskull never produced a Fix-It Felix Jr..as you suggest. I'd be a buyer if they had.
@@GenXGrownUp they stopped making games they are moving on they started in 2017 whatever they aren’t selling it’s discontinued your only way getting them is ebay if you don’t mind paying scalpers right now they are selling space invaders for $300 numskull cause their making their games from wood instead of plastic they increased their prices I’m done buying from them I got the games I wanted from them that nobody can do since 1980 first came coleco that needed batteries 4 C batteries then the rest are using the NES versions which is a waste of money

@@GenXGrownUp I’m not buying any until the prices goes down I won’t buy any that has the NES version which is a waste of money that’s the console that made me buy arcade machines back in the days I own 4 arcade machines since 1994 never thought consoles would catch up to arcades so I gave up on consoles until xbox 360 was released selling the arcade version
