As someone who doesn't really know prices for freelancers, I was surprised on both sides here. Some were way more expensive than what I thought and others were a lot cheaper than what I thought. Especially with translations. That seems like a steal to get your game localized into different languages! Contracting out work is something that's always mentioned but hardly ever talked about in detail. Great idea for a video!
"Many hands make light work" as the saying goes. I'm not even giving it a second thought as far as bringing people on. Few people are so talented they can do everything themselves. And you have to love people for trying, but it not very realistic. BTW... everybody. hates rigging. I'm doing some right now.
How can you check that / avoid the trap if a font (or any art) is really free or just somebody uploaded a stollen image as said that is free and after that the original owner will sue you?
You can do some research - reverse image search, look at the artist's other work, see if the pace of posting/completion is too quick, or the price is too low, vs quality & complexity. For fonts, use reputable font library sources, with complete foundry & license info, and try looking up the font elsewhere. Most folks are too lazy to actually change the stolen font name. Keep records of what you bought, and from whom, with any licensing & usage info. That way, if someone makes a claim, you at least have some evidence to show that you were unaware and made a reasonable effort to confirm legitimacy. Can't say whether that would be enough under the law (depends where & who you are, and where & who they are), but as a business owner, that's a minimum I use for due diligence.

I believe that with freelancers, they own the IP and rights to that assets they make - might be UK only. do you have a contract that you use and get them to sign? or does Fiverr cover this? Thanks
@@bitemegames what about with your team? apparently it's a good idea to have contracts between each other - even if you're friends, family, or in a relationship - as it could cover your butt later in life.
You will probably find this offensive, but honestly I don't intend it.... But here it is. The new music is not actually good. The different instruments are out of sync and it feels wrong. It could be AI generated, but not sure... Did you get the project file?
It's not offensive to me, but it's an opinion. I had to the option to get the source files, although I didn't ask because there's no wag I'd ever touch them. I have played around with AI music gens before and they were all utter garbage. I do believe there is a real person behind it, and even if it's not perfect, I'm can't justify dropping a few grand on some music when we don't have the financial freedom for it. -M
The music do feel like out of place, sure it fit the theme but it doesn't fit the level itself. i guess that's the downsides on outsourcing your game assets i guess
I don't think it is AI music. The composition is very noodly (as in bad) but the quality of the instruments sounds good. So it has an ok aesthetic, no substance, and could be offensive to people who are used to more sophisticated compositions. I'm actually not super familiar with AI music because what I have seen of it seems to be a waste of time (not noodly but painfully generic), but this music seems like they are getting what they paid for honestly. One might think this quality of work is a bit lower in price, but those sound libraries are expensive! So again it seems like they are getting something at least decent, depending on how you look at it.
My friends, I'm 100% certain you've been scammed with that art for your new game. It is AI generated. My bf showed me your game and I recognized the typical style and flaws immediately. Now that I see the price you paid, it's even more obvious. Art of that level costs much more and artists who can create landscapes like that don't make mistakes like wobbly lines, weird noise or unrealistically bending rooftops. To save your brands integrity, I'd recommend changing the art. I'm sorry this happened to you...
@@pixies64 oh no, I don't know any, sorry! But if I was them, I'd try to find a way to confirm and get my money back. I double-checked the concept artist, 99% certain it's pure AI. The pagodas roof doesn't line up on some levels, and the high-level of detail on the walls is rather random. I checked his previous works that feature characters underneath - the girl with long brown hair - her hair is illogical, and there are stuff that I guess are flowers on top, but the AI just smudges everything. Usually you can buy a a commercial license/the IP through Fiverr, if the artist then tries to pull a fast one, Fiverr has your back. -M
