I came across several videos stating that this Asus Chromebox was the best Cheomebox on the market. I never used a ChromeOS devise before but I was intrigued. See the only thing I used my Dell for was to browse the web with google chrome to watch movies, tv shows, youtube and to do social media stuff. But my Dell tower is old and it doesn't display in HD. Its not even powerful enough to run Netflix. So when I heard that there are mini pc that basically the only thing you can to with them is use the chrome browser I was sold. I bought my Asus Chromebox brand new on amazon and after taxes and shipping it was 161.00 usd. It is the best computer purchase I have ever made. Gone is the headache of owning a Windows pc with all its bugs and glitches. I have never owned a windows pc without something messing up with it and like I said I only use them for web browsing. Windows to me is a very flawed OS. I know a lot of you will disagree with me but that's been my experience with Windows. I highly recommend the Asus chromebox to anyone who is like me and just wants a quick reliable computer to browse the web with.

They made me install an antivirus software that did nothing to improve performance which I told them it wouldn't. Chrome is VERY limited in the apps it can run and even hardware it can support. But for what it is, Chrome OS is a good little OS to run as a "hobby". But frankly, there is NO comparison of this box to a PC. Your older PC was obviously not in shape to be used as any kind of comparison. No offense intended.

You actually can reprogram it to put Windows 10 or Linux on! You also can upgrade the M.2 SSD and the memory. I have one that I reprogrammed and upgraded to a 120gb M.2 SSD and 8gb memory. I'm running Windows 10 Home. Works great, just like a regular desktop!

I was a little shocked when I got my utility bill, lol! so I went out and purchased a second hand Chromebox 3 for fifty bucks. Has an I3 processor and 8 gigs of RAM. I am very impressed with the performance of this device it boots up quickly, performance is very well and streams in 4k and has the full version of the Google Play Store. What I like most about Chrome boxes is that they're completely upgradeable and like you said they're great for basic tasks so when I'm not gaming I use the Chromebox and my utility bill went down. I do think a Chromebox is worth it I would recommend it highly! thanks for the video

Decent Windows mini PC's are cheaper than ever. It makes the whole Chrome OS rather pointless except for some really specific use case scenarios. I think's that's why Google started enabling Android apps on Chrome OS in order to make the system more functional.
ChromeOS works way better on these mini PCs than Windows. We tried Windows ones at work and they are just too underpowered to haul Window's bulk around. With ChromeOS, they fly. For home use, I use ChromeOS vs Windows on about a 85/15 time divison in favour of Chrome. Windows is really only for games or for very specific applications (mainly Google Earth Pro). Often I use the PC via remote desktop on the ChromeOS machines. In the workplace, it's mostly Chrome with the exception of a few legacy PCs kicking around to drive specific hardware. Having ChromeOS in an enterprise envrionment is a pleasure. It looks after itself beautifully, much easier than Windows, much MUCH easier than Apple. For people with big Windows legacies it's more of an issue, but if you are starting out from scratch, I honestly think you'd be foolish not to go the ChromeOS route. Android apps are a mixed blessing. I'm happy not using it but I can see why it can be useful in specific circumstances.

Linux allows for more applications and upgrading the ram would be like $20 to go from 2 to 4 GB.
