It's so annoying. I'm also Nigerian and my mom also uses that husband's house thing as an excuse. Imagine telling your child to learn how to cook not because it's a basic skill to have as human being but for a husband i don't even want to marry. It made me avoid being around the kitchen even more and it made me opposed to marriage. I'm just 18 but my mom keeps talking about a future husband between 2-3 years. Does she really think men are going to be lining up for me when i finish uni? Honestly i don't even want marriage or kids anymore. It has never really benefited women in anyway
I agree. My mom used to do that when I was little and it made me not want to learn how to cook. It wasnt until my father told me that since I love food, I should learn to cook it for myself because one day i'lllive on my own. It was then that I allowed him to teach me how to cook. His cooking style was better than my mom's anyways lol, but i'm grateful for that skill.
Disagree with the last bit. The love of family is worth the journey there. I'm 29 and engaged, and I'm probably gonna be a mum in 3 years. I never allowed anyone to force me to marry anyone because both my sisters and my mum are single parents (the dads are in the kids lives but the parents aren't together). Being a single mother is TOUGH and i wouldn't wish that on anyone. It takes a partnership to raise kids. I always told everyone that the only way I would have my own kids is if I marry a man with the following: Same morals Good relationship with parents Forgiving Self aware
@@Tuncapoo yeah I know having a good partner can change everything I'm not just interested in relationships like that and I never wanted kids. Plus the amount of trust issues i have with men it's honestly enough to put me off from relationships. Me finding out my dad who I thought was one of the good ones cheated kinda added to it
Cause Black people don't like easy life, from working with oyinbos as a dental nurse I see this woman order her Tesco delivery from work, imagine she gets home from work she's chilling mate. We glorify struggle, there's no reward for struggle oooo, only health problems.
Women would happily be the ‘breadwinner’ if we were ALLOWED by men. The wage gap is the start, the expectation of us being the ‘nurturing’ one, the fact I can only get a job that works around my partners schedule because he’s a man and his career comes first yeah? it’s bullshit. I hate that mentality. I WISH I could be the breadwinner, I would do that every day over being the main carer parent.
The pressure is crazy! If you’re working and also tending to the house, at some point you’ll become overwhelmed and you have to be able to lean on your partner for help!
As a person, learn how to cook for yourself. Learn how to make something from nothing, take down recipes, learn techniques so you won’t go hungry and can stretch your cash.
Only when my mom passed (before i marry) that I said I shoulda been in that kitchen learning more. No wahalla sha. I have the Holy Ghost to teach me all things
I love cooking I find it therapeutic, putting love into a dish.. but there has to be a balance, if they’re expecting it alllll the time and they know how to cook then he has to reach kitchen aswel cause I like to be fed just as much 😂😂
Sigh. The more we go forward, the more we are destined to go backwards. It has always been the case that music artists seek to find new and fertile ground in order to uncover new and interesting music. The idea that J-Hus' Crazy is occult music sounds "crazy" when this same generation (and importantly their parents) partied through Michael Jackson's Thriller - lived through Nina Simone's "I put a spell on you" - and more recently, we've had Minaj's epic verse on Kanye's Monster, Missy's fantastic Get Ur Freak on vid which is practically iconic: There is of course, Rhianna's haunting Disturbia and Beyonce's Haunted. The list is endless. I have plenty of time for people who argue that J-Hus' bars cut too close especially considering his well known and written about violent background. But the idea of throwing away your phone is just nonsense... we're above this.
No. Women work full time, clean, cook, and take care of children on their own. Just because you pay for everything doesn't exclude you from all other responsibilities.
Heh. 🤣 🤣.. Cleaning and cooking ain't nothing new, yo mamas did it... Not by force.. But out of duty... Most of ya'll today ain't gonna get no husband because of the unnecessary comparison of men and women and the combative attitude.
