The best example is the parents going on a monthly basis and showing how it’s a normal and good practice to try to be holy and stay in a state of grace. God loves us and wants us to be close to him.

Do Catholic second graders still go through the ten commandments and, terrified of failing to confess something, tell the priest they committed adultery?
When I finally forced - dragged and had to pop my cherry to go to confessional ( Even as kid I thought this stupid ) So I made up some story and told the priest I robbed a liquor store. I thought they were suppose have vow silence? Well he ratted me to to my CCD teacher, and which who told my parents. To suffice to say, that was my first and last time I ever went.
@@sitka49 Thats so unfortunate. I invite you to go back and try again confession. An experience isn't everything. You can try it again with an examine of conscience and explain to a priest your experience and I hope all will be well.
To be honest, I think putting religion upon kids is not a good idea. If they want or like going to church/doing whatever church rituals are -- then sure. In all other situations -- putting religion just because you have religious needs is not fair to the children.
This argument can be used for education as well and ask sorts of other things you ‘shouldn’t put unless they choose’. However it is the function of a parent to expose children to nutritious food, nutritious knowledge etc. As adults they can choose to continue or explore other paths
@@JenniferPrefers education is required by law (at least in Germany, where I live). Spirituality and religion -- not. Good nutrition is a basic need. Spirituality and religion -- not (greetings to Maslow). While one can argue that spirituality is a basic need as well, why not to expose a child to other religions as well, so they can have more variety to choose from? We don't want them to eat apples only. Bananas and strawberries are nutritional as well. My point is, that at the moment children are exposed to rather complicated religious rituals, they are not able to critically process it and decide for themselves. I feel like in religious families there is rarely freedom of religion or no religion for kids.
Not teaching your kids the faith is a grave sin committed by the parents. Your point is but substantiated in scripture or the life of the church. It is very important to raise children in the faith for the sake of their salvation
Its sad that some teach their kids to go into a booth, share your darkest secrets with a sinner, and that sinner will forgive you your sins against God! Jesus taught us to pray directly to God for forgiveness! Now you've taught your child to see the Catholic Church as their God. No sinner can forgive you your sins against God!
Zero: the number of times of the Bible tells us to confess our sins only to God. One: the number of the direct commands in Scripture that tell us to confess our sins to another human being.

Quran says Allah is “Al-Ahad”(one/indivisible).Deductively, It is impossible for perfection to have parts. The old/new testament textually scream oneness of Allah. So, then why believe in trinity and associate two imaginary parts to Allah(one/indivisible/self-sufficient/all-loving)?How could your love/worship be undivided and only for Allah(the most Exalted) when there are two other equally unique/perfect entities?

Start early and start well. Thank you for sharing! God bless you both
I feel like confession is scary especially for young children. We need to assure them that it’s fine.
I thought it was scary and awkward for certain. I never knew what to say-I was mean to my sister, etc. Great topic!
@@alison5009 the comforting part is the fact that unless it’s a serious crime I doubt the priest hasn’t heard about it before.
Note on the etymology of "reconcile": it's "to take counsel (concilium) together again"-the cilium, "eyelid, eyelash," has nothing to do with it.
Reflecting on it, maybe confession should start later than the second grade...
Why do you say that?
It should start at the age of reason, so the church is right
