I cant tell you how many times ive listened to sleepers, but this is the first ive heard more emphasis on the guitar and i had no idea that this song went so hard. Saosin is one of those rare bands where their quality of music just keeps coming, and just about the only band where i can put on album after album and go straight through without skipping. Great playing.
A perfect play-thru of a perfect song on a perfect album! What more could anyone ask for? I’ll answer my own question. 1. Release an instrumental version of this album (I’d pay $100 for it without blinking). 2. Get the band back together and tour the world (Nashville stop please, with meet & greet passes for me and my sons), play this album cover to cover, intermission, then play ISOCG cover to cover. Encores from Translating the Name & Along the Shadow. I know that’s a lot to ask, but when I dream, I dream BIG! Those two albums changed my life forever!
When I was a high school kid, I listened to this literally more than 5 thousands times. Also hit the gig in Shibuya, Tokyo and that shit still shine as the best to this day. Epic.
Such a great song! So many little things that I never picked up on until hearing it instrumental.
they were pretty hard to hear in the original production. You'll hear a lot of cool things that got buried on the album mixes. I'm doing the entire catalog. :)

Great job. One of my favorite tracks, whole album is flawless. At times your riffs had a Killswitch Engage kinda sound with your pinch harmonics and chugs. Loved it.

Thanks! That’s cool! Ya I left the vocals off so people could hear the guitars better. I got some complaints people were wanting more guitar and less vocals. 🤷🏻♂️ I also thought I wouldn’t get a copyright claim from the label on my own song 🤣🤣🤣 but it still got a claim 🤣🤣🤣

Hey man, I'm trying to learn this song out of your tab book. I noticed you used all downstrokes (as opposed to up and down) for the octaves in the verse. Do you do that just to give it a slightly different sound? Are all Saosin songs with octaves played like this? Thanks!
It doesn’t really matter. I like to down pick a lot lately. But it probably was up and down on the album.

Noticed the st.rock dropped in price, what say you about its worth in late 2020? Ive been using a Julius Music Box with my 6505+ and some ownhammer heavy hitters but I’d like something rack mountable and more intuitive, its this or the torpedo live/studio

Hey loving the play through!!!! curious what pickups are in this guitar? I am referencing your play throughs for how fishmans sound in a mix vs passive humbuckers and they look like passives.
The guitar in the video has balaguer trunobuckers. The guitar that I used to record the audio has balaguer evergreen pickups. I recorded the video before I recorded the audio. I recorded the audio during a live stream where I used a different guitar. Hopefully that makes sense.

I wanna hear a fast song is the "demo"version of "sleepers". the grey EP is all "demos" before we recorded the self titled album.

@@Beau.Burchell Hey Beau, I actually bought that tab book a month or two back and I've only compared 1 song to your videos so far but it was very different in the book than how it was played in your vide. It was "Far better to Learn" that I compared and the book shows a very different way to play the intro and verse I think. Why would it be so different than how you do it if it was made in conjunction with you/the band? Did you change how you play it since the publishing of the tab book?
@@fazzi4924 nothing has changed. I did miss a few sections when doing the proof. In general, whenever there is a variation from how I play it, the book usually shows a more efficient / better way of playing it than how I wrote it.

Can I ask where the influence came from to use harmonics so melodically in your writing? I always found that technique to be the most unique and defining part of the Saosin sound.

I can’t take credit for inventing it. While I played in open hand for a bit, we used harmonics a lot and it helped me develop the saosin sound. Then bands like snap case really inspired me as well as apex theory. I actually wrote 7 years and TTN while I still was in open hand. But things did not work out so I used them for saosin.
