*Which one would you pick: Manx TT or Moto Racer?*
Ps, the score is 10-6 to the Playstation now, not 9-6 as stated in the video!
I'm thinking we are going to have to look at a first-person shooter comparison soon. We have a few choices that spring to the front of my mind:
Like-for-like comparisons of Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Hexen, Exhumed or Alien Trilogy...or possibly Quake vs a PSone exclusive like Lifeforce Tenka?

Great video as always, maybe Duke Nukem next to give the Saturn a chance of pulling one back 👍

Soviet strike! Best FMVs on the Saturn and a very solid release

@manueld885 Indeed, the quality of the FMV on Soviet Strike is top stuff! Really annoys me that other devs put out awful FMV on the Saturn!

I played both back in the day, my brother purchased Manx TT on release to play on my Saturn, I purchased Moto Racer a year later on Platinum label. After a week i was bored of Moto Racer, Manx TT on the other hand, well it was extremely popular when my friends came round, and its one i go back to it all the time, so its 7 days vs 26 years of entertainment for me at this point, so it's definitely Manx TT that gets the thumbs up for me!

I had a PC demo disc with Moto Racer on it, and would play it non-stop, but never actually bought the full game.
Also, loved their "widescreen mode" was just the regular 4:3 screen with borders on the top and bottom now! :D

Me too the demo was the Sea of Sand track and I was stunned by the beach graphics midway. 🙂

Manx TT is best to me, despite limited courses. Great analog control in MTT. First person mode has extreme horizon tilt, I love to play that way for a race or two.

Hmmm, i'm not a fan of manx TT, but i sometimes think you miss the point of arcade type games. Moto racer, if you decide to play through the campaign it might hold you for 4 or 5 hours, but once complete, you'll probably never play it again, manx TT was designed to be picked up and played on and off over a period of time. Arcade games, by definition, are built on accessibility and replayability, not just content to be seen once.
A good example is Sega Rally, can be completed in less then 10 mins, but over the past 25 years ive put more hours into it than all the Gran Turismo games combined, and ive owned and played them all, bar 7.
I look at my ps1 shelf of games, loads have lots of content, but they stay on the shelf in favour of me picking up the games i really enjoy playing, because they fundamentally play and therefore replay really well.
My opinion is, and I've probably said this before, not all content is equal.
On a side note, i came to this conclusion back in the day when i had an N64. I picked up Top Gear Rally, it was a new game on a new shiny bit of hardware with lots of content, but for some reason, i just wasn't having the fun i expected, at which point, i looked over to my copy of Sega Rally and realised, not matter how many tracks and cars there were in Top Gear Rally, it'll never have the content thats in Sega Rally 😀.

I understand your point of view totally, the Saturn had a lot of arcade games that were fun and great to play, Sega Rally being a great example like you said, aswell as VF2, the Virtua Cops and some others, but the Playstation ended up getting a lot of fun arcade games that had also had loads of content added to accompany the arcade modes within the games. Obviously Moto Racer is not the best example of that and the one that always springs to mind for me on the Playstation is always Soul Blade!

    • @retroblitz3533
      @retroblitz3533 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

@gameshack1985 Soul Blade is a great game, got it as part of a double pack with Tekken 2, another great game. Sega were moving in the right direction with the Dreamcast, Soul Calibur is another great example that's pack full. Perhaps Sega were just a generation too late to the party, and ultimately too late for them to stay in the console race.

More content goes a long way with me. This is why I'll prefer some games that are inferior on a technical level (Doom on the SNES vs Doom on the 32X), because there is a lot more game there.
