Got back from the pet store yesterday with some new spiders :
1) Pelinobius muticus (King Baboon)
2) Neoholothele incei (Trinidad Olive)
3) Psalmopoeus irminia (Venezuelan Suntiger)

Based on our knowledge of Irminias:
- high humidity (65% to 75%; 70% to 80% for slings)
- plenty of ventilation
- keep it in an arboreal enclosure, although they are more fossorial as slings. In other words, move it from that cup
- temps between 75 and 80
- two inches of substrate for sub-adult to adult (moist it monthly, mist once a week); 1" - 1.5" of good moisture-retaining substrate for slings
- Dry Season is February, March, April; Wet season is May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December
The goal is to mimic Venezuela as best as you can

Mine just enjoys some warmth about 20-27 C and high humidity but let to to dry out until the top of the soil is moist. I keep mine in a “bio active” enclosure with live mosses and springtails to keep it clean. The springtails are also a good indicator for when it gets to dry as they stop coming to the surface as often.
The footage is very good with the GoPro but I miss the occasional zoom ins😂

The lighting and quality is better, the "fish lens" takes a bit of getting used to
The lighting is WAY better with the GoPro, no flashy flashy while it's trying to adjust.
The strong fisheye effect is not so nice.

Irminia is kept in a enclosure with high humidity, many ventilations, arborial setup, irminias like cold places and BTW Psalmopeous Irminia is my favourite tarantula

I have a P. irminia sling, she prefers to be arboreal all the time. When I bought her she was in a tiny deli cup with substrate. Soon as I got her home, she stayed on the lid. So I rehoused her into a small arboreal enclosure. I have a tiny water dish in it for her. And occasionally lightly mist the enclosure. She has plenty of cross ventilation, and I keep her between 72-75 degrees F.
Now that you have a hero 7 you could use those "head mounts" so you have both hands free to do something

@@ameyamoore3821 why not lol. It’s a good idea so he would be able to do more stuff with two hands. Plus he’s holding the camera at around head height anyway and he would always be able to take the GoPro off for close ups if he needed.

Ah I don't like how wide the gopro makes it, it also makes me motion sick. Also it didn't focus on the T's very well unfortunately :( It's good to try something new tho!! I appreciate you trying stuff out to see what works

The audio is a big meh, the go pro quality is clean but i dont rly like how it rounds the video.
I agree however if he rehouses something insane he should actually use this instead of his phone and one hand. Or god bless even packing tarantulas for shipping...the gopro is not bad upgrade for certain videos. Also we get to see a bit from his house which I also like.

I do like the GoPro view, with it being very clear and its not blurred, i can hear your voice just fine too. But as you have said, the lens is huge and i personally dont like the curved view we get at the edges. I honestly like the phone better, even when it is blurry, just because of these things. I hope you find out which one you like best, EL.

It’s the alcohol in it. Just use isopropyl alcohol. It takes the marker right off.

My Irminia was my first ever T and is doing super well 🥰
always had a big waterdish and a pretty humid substrate with some ventilation holes and a hide. since she was a sling she loved to stay in her hide :3 it's pretty rare that she comes out but whatever ^^
temparatures are usually 26-29°Celsius

Doesnt matter for sling but when it grows up a little keep them in arboreal enclosure, well ventilated prefferably crossventilation. When I asked experienced keepers how humid I should keep Irminia they all answered - "You cannot overdo dampness with Irminia." So I literally took their word for it and kept it super damp like literally Im amazed that it didnt mold. Maybe its because I didnt give her that much substrate she webs quite a lot. Now she has much more substrate, doesnt utilize it at all, just webbed a corner with corkbark and uses it as a hide. As soon as she grows she becomes sturdy.
By the way when I got her I was a newbie and she jumped and started bolting around the kitchen. My wife caught her with catchcup because I froze and she torn two of her front legs off. My girl still made it and regrown them over time. She is big and gorgeous and very sturdy. Believe me Irminias dont die as often you had a stroke of baaaad luck. In my country irminias are so overbred so cheap so easy to take care of. Some breeders unable to sell irminias even release them out into the garden or something :D :D Imagine that

I have 2 irminia. A 5.5" mature female that I rescued and a 2" sling that I got at .5", I keep my Irminia similar to my C. versicolor. Lots of ventilation, moist substrate with a small dryer area that I let nearly dry out before re-moistening, arboreal setup. The deli cup you used was no good. I power feed slings until 2" to get out of most fragile stage ASAP. Ive been lucky and had no losses with my irminia yet. Im sorry you have had bad luck. Dont give up on this species. They are so beautiful and rewarding to keep. Im looking for a mature male to breed my female in the near future.

I’ve had my irmania since a sling and it’s been fine I always kept mine in aboreal set ups from a sling with dry sub and cross ventilation. Hope yours stays strong I love mine such a beautiful species

Idk if its been mentioned but the reason the ink comes off is alcohol. If you check your cologne, deoderant or even hand sanitizer (since its relevant) it contains alcohol that breaks up the ink. If your "ink remover" of choice has alcohol/ethanol it should work

I breed irminias, currently have 2 breeding pairs with one Gravid and a sling growing. Based in the UK.
I keep my irminias in a tall container 32oz deli cup with tall cork bark and lots of moss and plants to they can make a web tunnel. I mist the enclosure once per week. I find more often than not they web up rather than burrow
What temperature you keep them at ?

I have a Suntiger at the moment, only a sling but he enjoys hides, lots and lots of hides. He pops out when the humidity is high and is a ferocious little predator. To be honest he just enjoys a humid but cluttered environment at about 23-27 C and he has been all good for about 4 or 5 months.

For me Go-Pro is a good use but I got used with the usual unfocus zoom on the T's cuz it's funny and that's what I like about your channel, it's really entertaining despite the fact that I have arachnophobia yet I'm starting to feel less scared of spiders (tarantulas) just by watching your video
Anyway, as I said earlier, Go-Pro is good too, but I prefer phone, but hey the decision is up to you this is just my opinion!! Nice vid btw :)
we need occasional zoom ins when rehousing or feeding etc and GoPro when you go look for stuff in nature. Would be interesting to see more of nature outside of your home.
P.irminia is arboreal. I don't use a lot of substrate just little so they can add to their webbing and keep at room temp 24/26 degrees Celsius. I personally do worry about humidity with any of my T's. I own 5 P.irminia' s non have died on me yet.🤞 I live in the uk.

I think the GoPro gives a good quality video. Doesn't seem you need extra light with it. You can also get yourself a chest mount for some of the more difficult T's so you can more easily use both hands.

I keep my p irminia slings in a 32oz deli cup with 3 rows off holes going all around the top off the cup with a couple inch off moist substrate and a piece off Carl bark leaned at an angle and they've been fine I keep all psalmopoeus slings the same way and they thrive.

Common rubbing alcohol (isopropyl) works better than cologne. No scent or extra chemicals and it will evaporate.
okay, i have just one question: why didnt you use a spoon if those things are that small? wouldnt that make it much easier to get them out of those tiny cups into the new shiny custom made enclosures? :D

@@emilyyi420 sure if you try to carry them for longer distances, but for just spooning them out of those cups it shouldve been a bit more practical? just speculating here as ive never handled any larger kind of spider, but thats far too much improvising imho
They can climb up the bit you hold and it would turn out terrible

P.irminia's need arboreal enclosures so that might be your issue. I've had mine for half a year now and theyre doing super well and finally got their adult colors

Just because it’s a sling doesn’t mean an arboreal doesn’t need an arboreal enclosure!! My irminia has been arboreal from a 1cm sling! May help it’s survival rate if it’s housed appropriately!

Just follow tarantula lairs care on the Suntiger. I’ve never had issues with them but I have with pink toes.
I will say I keep them the same as Poecs. They also like the cork bark tubes at a angle like the poecs too.
I wish you luck on your tarantulas! I hope they all survive so we can see how pretty they are as adults and see their personalities. 🥺
I Jeep my P. Irminias on slightly More Substrate than other arboreal animals and Alexas hold it a Bit moist with good Cross Ventilation and Holmes in the lid!! They are my First 2 irminias and Sant have Andy Problems with Thema to the Moment!!

The quality is better, the audio not so much. The fish eye look of the camera isn’t horrible just takes time getting used to, but i like that it has a wider view that way we can see more

I actually have an issue with the new camera set-up. I'm getting kinda queasy. Like it's uncomfortable to watch. I don't know what it is, maybe it's the whole wide-angle stuff but it's not fun to watch. The overall quality is fine.
I have a sun tiger. Had it from sling to adult. First t. Keep her in dry coco fibre with a overfilled water dish. I only ever up the humidity with spray bottle when she is in pre moult. Worked well for me so far 👌

You can probably use the GoPro and set up a flash light at an angle or something like maybe try a small one if that doesn’t work then a bigger one or just get a ring light. I’m sure you can find a cheap one.

My p. Irminia is pretty hearty. It ripped two of its legs off as a sling when it bolted and it recovered good. It’s by far the fastest in my collection. Now it hides and I never see it

My Psalmopoeus Irminia is like super relaxed
She takes her strolls at night and she's super pretty
Her enclosure used to be an 60l aquarium
I gave her about 15cm of substrate though she doesn't seem to use it
She doesn't have that much of ventilation, some real plants etc and shes doing just fine
I wish I could have a pet tarantula, they actually look very cute
Its super worth it, im 2 years in and its been the most fun passive hobby of mine

1) Even small irmina can be very hostile. Venom has something similar to capsaicin, as far as I know, even at that size.. will fkn hurt, lol.
2) I had two (gave more hostile one away and now have 1). Had theme from small slings. Never have any problem. Normal vent, 75% hum or so and arboreal setup, similar to avics. Both webbed heavy.
3) Like some avics.. these t-s should be able shoot poop as far as i know. Mine never done so, either runs or gives threat posture. So cant 100% confirm. Web is insanely strong.

Alcohol Swabs works great, too, to remove Sharpie ink from plastic containers.
You should get you a "GoPro Chesty" so that you wont have to hold it while its hot

If you don't want to use cologne for getting permanent marker off you can always use rubbing alcohol to get it off as well. Before today I never heard of someone using cologne to get permanent marker off of something

The quality is alot more brighter I've noticed, and go pros barely lose focus, but now you can get a tripod and be able to use both hands for more intimate tasks (not love grabs)

I like the go pro but at the same time I love your phones focus(like general focus of the objects and the background), and the zoom ins and nice focus points(when you do a close up focus) where you just pause for a moment and focus on the beauty. I also don’t like how the go pro is making everything rounded🙁like the floor looks round and uneven.
