I drove through Rocklea, Fairfield, Graceville and Oxley today. There were trucks on top of fences and leaning against buildings. Cars still muddied in the middle of streets. Warehouses and workshops staff cleaning out their destroyed stock. Its such a shame to see so many businesses destroyed!

Thank you for this video. I am shocked by how bad the flooding was. I'm American, but lived in Brisbane '75-'80 and loved it there. I lived in Auchenflower and Toowong so it was shocking to see Milton Rd. and Coronation Drive closed. I am so sorry for the hardship this has caused for you and the people of Brisbane.

Milton road and coronation drive with no cars ? That's something I never thought I'd ever see.
In 2011 I was working in South Brisbane in a very low area in a warehouse. It was somewhere off Montegue road that was near the river. I got a call as I was out on the road. I came back to rescue my car and someone drove the work van out of the area after we moved what we could off the ground floor to the 1st floor. Water engulfed the first floor and was lapping at the 1st floor. Blew the power out and after they got the power back we spent weeks cleaning the mud out. (even on the ceilings). It had warped the walls and smelt bad.

Global warming will make such rainfalls worse and worse and has probably already made them worse. The reason is simply that warmer air can absorb a lot more water vapor. That's simple thermodynamics (clausius-clapeyron equation). So the warmer it gets the more extreme the heavy rainfalls can be.
That's what people don't seem to get about global warming. We've built our cities and infrastructure for a world that is 1.2°C colder than now. So what used to be safe and used to work will often not work anymore.

"Are you still wearing a mask when your by yourself in the car??"
Randomly changing to another subject is another hallmark of conspiracy believers and science deniers. They have to constantly change the subject so that their ignorance about a subject doesn't become too obvious.
