Professional VM here. 45 Minutes is incredibly unrealistic as an across the board per project expectation. There should be a range depending on the task.
Agreed. I quit my job last week because the boss wanted me to do 5hrs work in 3 hrs. I did work for 3 people. She knew I was going to leave and tried to keep me from leaving. I was afraid to add my time with her to my resume because I knew she would bad talk me to my next employer (she is petty). I did good work and all the other vendors knew that. The day I resigned, another vendor asked me to work for them. I start with them tomorrow and am determined to continue my same work ethics to the new job. I want to show up the old boss. Also got better pay and hrs so wish me luck!
Came here because of a job posting I found. Why does almost every posting I find require 6+ years of retail and 3+ years of merchandising...to stock shelves? AND be proficient in like 8 different programs like I'm going to be running a group of droids for the grunt work?
Pro tip, what ever a job posting says for requirements don't pay much mind to it. Apply anyway, they don't genuinely expect to get those kind of people. They are just trying to put their best foot forward.
I was just hired on to crossmark and this makes me want to stick with my other employers. I do not like jobs that require you to complete a job in a set amount of time. In merchandising you run into a multitude of issues from bad management/communication to stockrooms being a complete disaster. I prefer resets or new store builds. At least I know that my time and effort is appreciated and respected!
This is a role mostly focused on third party merchandisers. Get in and out as quickly as possible is priority number one. Rotation only applies to most food substances and is not indicative of any other products, ie electronic goods and non-perishable goods with very high shelf lives. Facing is very important in electronic goods as typically only one side of the packaging reflects brand, uses, and quality. My role as a merchandiser in a retail electronic goods store follows a more comprehensive guide to ensure customer satisfaction. Facing, laser lining, downstocking, replenishment from back stock, and if you're well versed in interactive displays: ensuring proper wiring, demonstration content installation, proper maintenance of displays, troubleshooting displays, contact with market-level teams to provide detailed instruction in troubleshooting non-functional displays, and the ability to order parts to replace broken parts of a non-functional display. What is discussed in this two minute and forty-five second video could get you a part time job restocking a grocery store. It's not indicative of a full time merchandising position at most box retail stores.
The world needs to get together and file a class-action lawsuit against the country's workforce oversight and regulations bc they're getting away with inhumane work conditions 😑
Walmart doesn't allow vendors or employees to use shopping carts for stocking, company policy has changed, better update your video to show the merchandiser using a store L cart or rocket cart merchandise float, and good luck finding one that isn't in use or loaded down with merchandise.
All the training video's say "grab a shopping cart", you can't use shopping carts per store policy. And anyone who accepts a job like this has to be pretty desperate for a job....it is awful!!!
It sounds to me like they just want to intice suckers to their jobs. All this is is a glorified stockperson. They love to make it sound better by calling it a 'merchandiser' lol.
45 minutes is crazy. It took me 3 hours to finish one of my stores. It wasn't a Walmart but I was by myself and not trained appropriately so it took me a while to do it. Then I got yelled at for taking to long. I was about to quit right there and then but he called back and apologized. I already am not really liking this job and especially the pay loss I took definitely wasn't worth it. I'd rather go back to production CNC machines. I made $5 more an hour and yes I had a supervisor who was a dick but idk what to do cause my friend got me the job and I'm not liking it. He was telling me you can move up fast but I talked to someone and they said they were merchandising for 2 1/2 years before moving up. I can go make $20 at a CNC shop easily cause I know how to run a machine and am not entry level anymore. I'm like a schedule 1 machinist or something.

Most Walmarts never allow you to use their shopping carts. And filling 10-15 coolers and rotating and cleaning coolers and paperwork too? 45 minutes? SMH, I have an interview with them tomorrow. We'll see.
I requested to meet with the Gen Mills vendor I would be working hand and glove with. Screener said no dice, it was a safety issue. I’m gonna end up having to do all of this alone yet, I have team co workers I’m not gonna be bringing in new products and organizing shit on my own. Not happenin’ putting tags up and products on the shelves is easiest for me.
I don’t mind merchandising but in my area they pay like a dollar more than minimum wage. Y’all are asking for too much for such a low hourly pay. With that pay I’ll give the bare minimum, & no I won’t be “outgoing”😂 I won’t make enough to eat so I won’t have the energy to. I was interested in the job but they didn’t mention the pay until the interview. Hard pass, because I know other merchandisers that pay more.
@@puppiesrlife Well, you might not be fired right away, but if you keep taking too long your boss might talk to you about it, and if you still keep taking too long, then yeah, you might be fired.
@@GingerGilligan If it's realistic and reasonable to get it all done in 45 mins then sure but from the comments on this video it doesn't sound it, and also sounds like the pay doesn't match going out of the way to get there, do a job for less than an hour, while being under constant stress to get it done by that time. Not in today's world where people are desperate for workers. If they said they were firing me for that I'd laugh and say go ahead 😂
@@GingerGilligan You clearly have not been in the know of what has been going on for the last two years and especially the last year if you can ask that. It's an employee's market right now and they have the ball on their court. People are tired of low wages and dictatorship corporate heads so there's an uprising. They are leaving in droves for better work opportunities hence why there is a massive shortage of workers, especially in historically low wage jobs. If these retail people are going to fire someone for going over 45 mins with their low wages and unrealistic time constraints then yes it's laughable they'd fire someone as they'd turn around and realize no one else is left because no one wants to or has to work for that bullshit anymore. No one would use them as a reference anyway so it doesn't matter if they fire. Literally no impact as there's so many more opportunities out there. The company would just be shooting itself in the foot. Just telling it like it is.

I thought both videos were good....filled with a lot of information to get a hold on my expectations if I was hired.
Stocker at Walmart Hell naaaaaww!!!!
45 min is horseshit... they cannot and will not tell me that I can't longer. My walking alone takes me 45 minutes to get out of my car
can i used your video for my vlog content?
Most Walmarts never allow you to use their shopping carts. And filling 10-15 coolers and rotating and cleaning coolers and paperwork too? 45 minutes? SMH, I have an interview with them tomorrow. We'll see.
Marquart it’s just another shitty job with shitty pay , entry level job
Marquart how was your interview
I requested to meet with the Gen Mills vendor I would be working hand and glove with. Screener said no dice, it was a safety issue. Was offered the job on a tuesday, called back and said that I still had questions, but received the new hire pprwork. Called on Thursday to speak with my new DM...no answer. Got a testy email friday that they hadn't received the filled out paperwork. Still no reply. Got an email the following Monday that my paperwork was still missing, then got an email Tuesday saying they had found a candidate who was a better fit. I found that all very strange. And for the last 6 weeks get various phone calls for positions I never applied for, twice in the last 4 days from the same person (lol, I actually talked to this guy and said that convienence store sales was not in my skills set).
Yah you have to be careful nowadays were you apply. You can lookup the salaries and job descriptions online with websites like glassdoor and indeed. If you google nestle merchandiser salary you get an idea of the pay and job. For the most part its going to be a dead end job unless you move up in the company
Don't go. 45 minutes for a new employee is insane. Why drive around from store to store for 45 mintues???
It's takes almost 3 minutes to describe a fucking stocker.
I was out of the country just got back and see the offering but I need an application or something to start on please let me know how I'll do it, yes I'm interested I did stoke before for a coffee company and I work with Crossmark before.I'll be waiting for a response for Las Cruces NM area thanks.
Apply online
I’m gonna end up having to do all of this alone yet, I have team co workers I’m not gonna be bringing in new products and organizing shit on my own. Not happenin’ putting tags up and products on the shelves is easiest for me.
U da bes my nig.
Hello mam I'm also working as a merchandiser u made a very good video it's so informative but 1 comment at 1:46 plz don't keep products on floor
You're a dork.
Wagie wagie, get in cagie
U gotta be on crack to be able to finish that in 45 minutes
45??
I don’t mind merchandising but in my area they pay like a dollar more than minimum wage. Y’all are asking for too much for such a low hourly pay.
With that pay I’ll give the bare minimum, & no I won’t be “outgoing”😂 I won’t make enough to eat so I won’t have the energy to.
I was interested in the job but they didn’t mention the pay until the interview. Hard pass, because I know other merchandisers that pay more.
REDBULL, MY SPONSOR!!!
Lol!
What if you exceed the 45 minutes?
@Andy Seriously or you're just guessing?
@@puppiesrlife I don't know why you would think it's that funny to be fired, but OK. . .
Can someone adopt me to go there and have a job like this..im from Philippines and 21 yrs old.. I hope i can work as a diser..im very competent and want to work there

complete in 45 minutes. I don't think so. You guys are out of your minds. And why would I spend so much money on gas, wear and tear of my car, plus mileage to drive to numerous stores for only 45 minutes. Insane. Its a wonder anyone works for you.
You get paid miles

All the training video's say "grab a shopping cart", you can't use shopping carts per store policy. And anyone who accepts a job like this has to be pretty desperate for a job....it is awful!!!
