I am using Nvivo12 Plus and I have longitudinal data. What's the best way to organize the data so I can compare data for participants at Time1 with Time 2? what tools can I use to analyze different time and how would I use it in Nvivo 12?
Thanks for this! So I am working with an excel that has both classifying fields and codable fields. (Nvivo 12 on MAC). I autocoded the data so that both the classifying columns and codable columns are linked to the case numbers. I am now trying to run a query on "Matric coding" to look at the intersection of two attributes from classifying columns only. However, the results in the node matrix don't seem to make sense (i.e the total is larger than what is actually present in the dataset), which makes me thing it is not doing what I'm intending to do. Would you know why that's the case? (Side note: I thought maybe it is because I am not asking it to look intersection of A "AND" B but I can't find an option to do that on Mac version of Nvivo 12.

I am doing a content analysis and would like to analyze each instance of a term as an individual case with different classifications. Right now, I am only getting the individual files with multiple references in each file for the term I am looking at. Is there a way to create a case out of the paragraph surrounding a term, instead of the whole document being the case?
Hi, my understanding is that cases can only be created for individual sources (and for the whole document), which means if you are really sure of wanting a paragraph to be a 'case', you might create a new source (e.g., document) for only that paragraph (and probably use a New Folder to avoid confusion). Hope that helps!
can you give suggestion to my problem. I have collected data, where each participant has several type of documents (i.e;one participants have interview, drawings, photography). How do I put these as one case?
Hi there, I have this problem myself, for repeated interviews, and what I did is to use only one (the most 'prominent' file, such as the interview) as a case for the purpose of adding attributes. Alternatively, (for multiple interviews - merge together for the purpose of adding attributes only in the case) - in your scenario, you could use the 'Add to set'' option and create all related files as one 'set' - but there are limited powers/functions associated with 'sets', only to group together files for searches. Long story short, there isn't really a functional way to 'group' different flies into one case without merging them, as far as I am aware. Maybe use the QSR forum and ask them as well. Hope that helps!

Hi, just one question.
Do we need to have to all the transcripts uploaded before creating case classifications or can we add more transcripts later?
You can add more transcripts later and convert them into cases. You can also add more attributes and attribute values as and when they arise.
