      No plans on buying an Ayaneo device.

    You're getting a sub just for being the first TH-camr that actually puts this awful company on blast. I had bought a Next Lite at the beginning of last year and they sent me one with a faulty thumbstick, I emailed them within the 7 day policy, and they never let me return the device, they continuously avoided the problem at hand.

    So I shouldn’t cancel my Odin portal order for this?

    Your views are 100% warranted. No one should have to fix a device they recently bought themselves especially when it's due to a manufacturers error, that's ridiculous. Also the whole paywall for colors thing is ridiculous as well. I appreciate your honesty sir 🙂

    My biggest issue with the plastics on Ayaneo products is that these arent cheap devices, they price them at a premium and that's fine for the tech inside but not the plastic on something so expensive especially for the retro colour ones.

  • @sjzafrani
    @sjzafrani วันที่ผ่านมา +4

    Ayn does the same thing re pay walling colors…..
    also every Chinese company will send you diy parts for repair, or make you pay shipping. This is not exclusive to ayaneo.
    As far as the colors, that’s 100% on you. It’s a ridiculous expectation for you to want them to replace the device for you because you’re dissatisfied with the color. That is something you would have known in the first 7 minutes, let alone 7 days.
    As far as asus or Lenovo having excellent customer service lol. They initially denied sd card problems under warranty and too the better part of a year to solve it.
    Lenovo had driver issues for like a year as well.
    You have some points but are overly salty against ayaneo and the bias is apparent.

      Ahhh I remember and experienced the Rog Ally SD card debacle twice and also Asus's scam repair cost saga that wasn't even that long ago. Even now people swear by these 'trusted' companies. The fact is - like buying anything there will be good ones and bad ones. I was one of the first backers for the Evo Retro power model because I love the design of the Ayaneo 2, and it arrived a little late with no known issues to date and performs as expected on the WLE stress test. It is vastly more comfortable than the Odin 2 portal (which people will no doubt buy ergonomic grips for)
      People are on the Ayaneo hate train and are judging them harder than these larger companies, and some of it comes from these supposedly unbiased reviews.

    • @sjzafrani
      @sjzafrani วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      @@gabsniff I too have a retro evo. It’s incredible. No issues!
      Screen is best in class. Sticks are best in class. Controls are great overall. It’s comfortable. Plays everything. Wish the chipset had more support but that’s something I knew going in.
      I also bought an ally and ally x. SD card got me on the original. My main complaint about the aya 3 is the battery size. They sacrificed a bit too much function for form in that regard. Otherwise looks amazing. Best controls. Best screen. Ergonomic. Checks a lot of boxes.

    • @TeamRetrogue
      @TeamRetrogue  วันที่ผ่านมา

      Sorry I came across that way. The bias does stem from my desire to want AYANEO to do better though. They have great ideas but their implementation is disappointing.

      @sjzafrani วันที่ผ่านมา

      @ all good. You spend your hard earned money on things you’re entitled to feel a certain way. They can for sure be better. I’ve seen tangible improvement since my first aya device until now. From quality to communication, in my experience. It does feel like two steps forward and one step back with them sometimes, can’t lie

    I would be interested simply because I could flip between D-Pad on top and Analog stick on top depending on what I was playing. But the smaller battery is a dealbreaker for me, I had an OG Ally and I genuinely liked it but if you raised the TDP you could drain the battery in less than an hour. What’s the point of a handheld if I felt like I needed to be tethered to a power outlet

    Thanks for the inputs. I did not know that their repair policy was: Go Fix Yourself. I red on your twitter that you did not click that well with the new switch announcement. I think i will buy one. I am curious to see what kind of emerging gameplay we can see on PC when your controllers have mouse input.

    • @TeamRetrogue

      That fascinates me too. AYANEO has good ideas but I wish they had better implementation.

  • @JB-tp6uj

    I understand your concerns, but your comparisons in value are all over the place. You can't compare prices, but then gloss over the fact that a Steam Deck is Linux and nowhere near as powerful as a Ayaneo 3. And the Legion Go S doesn't have the OLED screen or the power levels as well. Also, I think some of you TH-camrs are in a bubble...not everyone takes issue with the black color and the fingerprint marks...I can clean that easily. For example, I can't stand white devices because they look dirty after some use and take a lot more work to maintain.
    Your arguments about their customer service and experiences with the previous devices' internals are far more sound.

    • @TeamRetrogue
      @TeamRetrogue  วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Power wise yes, but there aren’t many OLED handhelds out there with a comparable screen and a better price point. Maybe that’s a standout feature if the AYANEO 3. Cheaper OLED device. I agree that the fingerprints won’t bother everyone but they do bother enough people that they should be listening to feedback and they’re not. I hate having to clean my handheld every 5 minutes. Thanks for your thoughts and for watching.

    I had a stupid long repair journey with a AyaNeo Air that was defective in got an upgrade to 6680U model that was again defective. It took from start to finish minimum 9 months not having a functional device. Never again purchasing from AyaNeo directly. If so only from Droix

  • @soreyJr

    Honestly, most people should not be purchasing Chinese handhelds unless it is their only option. There is always a problem that comes up not to mention that they usually do not sell or ship replacement batteries so if your device battery swells up and you can't ship it back, you're screwed.
    Stick to ASUS, Lenovo, Valve, or even Nintendo if you want reliable handhelds that are repairable.

    • @KyleRuggles
      @KyleRuggles วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      My thoughts exactly!
      I can't blame Ayaneo fully given they're a very small outlet in comparison and it's all the way on the other end of the earth and shipping etc. They aren't big enough to give us the coverage of the brands you listed. It is what it is, but I know one thing, I won't be buying from them, there's more options all the time now.

    • @soreyJr
      @soreyJr วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @KyleRuggles that is very true but if they are a smaller company, they should not be outputting so many devices that require proper quality control and support. They should make 1 or 2 devices a year max.

  • @warlordwossman5722
    @warlordwossman5722 8 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Ayaneo, OneXplayer etc. just can't compete in the x86 handheld market when you got ASUS, Lenovo, MSI and Valve so they rush out "premium" devices with the new chips first to have their "exclusive advantage" for a limited time. They are desperate to differentiate in that sense, you can think of them like a brand that sells exclusive limited shoes or something which is why the pre-ordering and early bird pricing structure matters so much to them followed by basically 0 support for the devices.

  • @strongbad79
    @strongbad79 วันที่ผ่านมา

    AYN charges extra for non Black but it's not multiple hundreds more like Ayaneo. And you get more storage and RAM for the small up charge. If they did something like that it would be way better than this. The amount they want to up charge is ridiculous. Especially not for their known issues and lack of quality control

      @TeamRetrogue sadly its true, we agreed a refund after a while and at the last stage, they tried to offer me a replacement first. Bit of a roller coaster, but I'm now an Ayaneo survivor.

    Lost faith in Ayaneo after buying a Next Lite, which died after a month. After jumping thru many hoops for them (because it's under warranty) they got tired of laughing enough to tell me that the warranty is only limited to if the battery is bad...in my case the motherboard died from normal use (played mostly indie games that weren't taxing on the hardware at all). Basically $400 down the drain

      To be fair, if you get the new hx 370 chip, you can run most stuff 15 watts or under even so I’m not too concerned with 50 watt hour battery.

  • @LordMaxed
    @LordMaxed วันที่ผ่านมา

    My thing is.. I get your points. Makes perfect sense what you’re saying, my only confusion is why you’re comparing the Steam Deck to the Ayaneo 3? They’re in two entirely different categories of performance and market value. You were better off comparing something as simple as the Ally X or Legion Go s or the Onexfly f1 pro. Even at their price points and the 1000$+ price of the F1 pro with the Hx370 it still a better sell then the Ayaneo 3. Their software is finicky and the whole modular design just seems very gimmicky rather than an innovative idea. Having all those detachable components just makes the “pick and go” experience quite frustrating.
    I wouldn’t trust them as a company anyway as they haven’t even fulfilled previous orders and already are making new stuff

    • @TeamRetrogue
      @TeamRetrogue  วันที่ผ่านมา

      I figured the STOLED was a good comparison because there aren’t many OLED screen handhelds out there and someone might want a handheld just for the OLED screen. The only other OLED handheld I could think of is the F1 Pro and that thing is hella expensive too. Your points are very valid thanks for watching and commenting.
