    *YES!!!* The King's Indian Defense where we control the center with our pieces from a distance! This is bound to be a classic educational speedrun episode!

      @@jordanmon15 in all seriousness, I thoroughly enjoy all of Danya's videos. I merely thought a King's Indian upload, within a minute, was a golden opportunity to beat a dead horse and kid. I hope the prophet is flattered, rather than annoyed!

  • @scheimong
    @scheimong 3 ปีที่แล้ว +173

    This game you played was super instructive in terms of avoiding a piece trade so that you can take advantage of white's overcrowded pieces situation and trap one of them with pawns. My current rating is about 1900 rapid (Lichess) and I've been stuck here for a while. Hopefully lessons like this are what I need to soon break 2000.
    2023 Aug. update: I keep getting replies so perhaps I owe you all an update. I've been playing chess online somewhat regularly during the past two years, and I've been following all of Danya's speedrun videos almost religiously. I've since broken 2100 rapid (approaching 2150) on Lichess, to which I'm still thinking "how did that happen?". I have a feeling my ultimate rating will end up somewhere around 2300 rapid on Lichess. Anything more will likely require a level of dedication that I'm unwilling to commit (and will likely suck the fun out of it for me). After all, chess is just a hobby for me and doesn't earn me any money.

I’m about 1900 myself, and one of the things I find very tricky is to play with the level of patience the position requires. I only recently started watching your channel but these speedrun videos are incredibly helpful, particularly for the transition from opening to middlegame. Best free chess lessons I’ve seen! Bravo!

    Daniel plays very simple, logical, common sense moves here but he makes it look very easy, it's not as easy as he makes it look. That's down to the many 1000's of hours of training, studying and being a great chess professional. Very instructional videos these sppedruns by a very good chess player/teacher.

    I played my first serious attempt at this opening last night, didnt go well. I trapped myself on the A-B-C files by not developing my white square Bishop on time and blundering my Rook early on. However, despite that I had a mate in 5 which I missed later on. Will definately try again and try to improve.

      No, absolutely not. If you play long enough games it's a great way to practice for OTB chess. If you do plan on playing OTB you could get in the habit of writing the moves down on paper too. That can take some time to get used to actually.
