I just popped back in to say thank you. I watched your videos on repeat over the summer and took a bunch of practice tests to find my weak points in comprehension and recognizing distractors.
Studied about an hour a day for 3 weeks and I passed my 5205 praxis with a 179 first time out!!!! And the insights I gained a helping me teach literacy more effectively and fluidly in my science classes.

Thank you sooo much for providing this video! I am adding a new endorsement in my state and I was required to retake the Teaching Reading Praxis. I was not happy about this... BUT your video and my current knowledge of teaching... I PASSED!!🎉 I had been procrastinating studying, and found your video the day before my test. I listened over and over as I cleaned my house the night before and your words really put me at ease about the test!!

This is quite possibly my favorite video on TH-cam because I took the 5205 yesterday and felt SO confident! I didn't really know where to start with studying because the exam has so many topics. But, this video (and the other 5205 prep videos) gave me a clear road map and truly helped me feel calm and confident taking the exam. I'm so glad I found your account! Any advice, Taylor, on the writing portion? I am a professional writer but I get stumped on those three essay questions in the practices!
At approximately 58:50, I have to interject that, although I agree with you on how absurd it is to time reading, there are situations for a job where you do get timed for your "reading" or rather, your proofing. When I'd applied for a couple of jobs in the past, they'd tested me on how many errors I could find within a certain amount of time. Just another obscure example, but real life.

I found this video through your website in looking for study guide resources for the Elementary Reading Praxis. I am a high school math special educator and my state has recently added this Praxis as a requirement. I have been freaking out because I have never taught elementary or reading.... and your video has been so helpful!!! The visuals have really helped me remember things better. I took the test 2 days ago, not sure how well I did but either way, this was so helpful. If I do need to re-take, I will be rewatching and studying using your resources. Thank you so much for your time and effort on this!

Thank you! Two weeks from now, I'll have taken this Praxis to get my TN certification restored. (they won't honor reciprocity with my current state, I must go through renewal process despite my cert. expiring in 2002) Took the Middle Grades Science and aced it - but this one has me running scared. I know how to help my middle schoolers improve their reading - but I do NOT know all the terminology and discrete, identifiable skills that reading teachers discuss. IT's a whole 'nother language compared to even ten years ago, when I got FL "Content Area Reading" professional development endorsement.
Now I feel like I can pass this thing, and maybe even do outstanding! (I, too, hate using Fluency alone to measure kids' reading growth. DIBELS misuse taught a whole generation of 'littles' that they were supposed to read as fast as they can!
I do disagree about whether we are expected to read fast in 'life'. In trainings - when we do the dreaded 'jigsaw' thing - educators are expected to read quickly. Good thing I have always read quickly!
Anyway.. THANK YOU!

I whole-heartedly agree that some of the practices the state imposes on teachers to use in the classroom have KILLED reading for kids. But teachers can always be the ones to fix that. Teachers matter the most a child's academic growth (research supports this) not mandates from the state. Sounds like you are doing a great job for your students. Thanks for being here.

This video is super helpful. I’ve taken the teaching reading exam here in Louisiana. And have failed it. It’s sooooo frustrating. I’m retaking it in a couple weeks and this is video has helped a lot

I'm back here watching for a second time. Test on June 7, 2022. I'm generally scoring around 75% (and that's a raw number, I think, as in 70/90 correct, not taking into account the varied values per section) on practices without the essay portion so I'm a bit nervous. Without your material though, I'd be 100% LOST! Thank you!

I just started watching your videos. I really hope it will help me. I have moved from my country after teaching for 21 years, and the state that I moved to requires me to take all the praxis in order to be certified here. I have taken it twice and have not passed it. Ifeel lost, I have no idea where to study from. This will be my 3rd time taking it, and I am so afraid I would fail it again. 😢

I want to help my students read better. I also want to pass this praxis 5302. I am reading this "Prometric" book that is labeled Praxis 5302 secrets; yet, this all sounds foreign to me; I am watching your videos with anything to do with reading, so the vocabulary will start sounding familiar.
