Good stuff as usual Terry. Very impressed with the new office joining the shed, it looks right at home. Also like the new painted roads and grime thats starting to take hold. One thing I did notice was that the TMD is positioned in front of the 4 mainlines. This is fine, but that large shed will hide/ obscure a large part of the running lines. Might be worth thinking about moving a few things around? Perhaps put the dmu shed behind the 4 lines near the back scene? Then add a wash plant/ standing area for locos in front with the 4 mainlines running through the centre? For me I always like to see the trains running past and large buildings can sometimes spoil the effect. However its your layout and i'm sure you've put a lot of thought into the current position of things, so feel free to ignore this :) Whatever you do i'm sure it will look great and i look forward to the progress you will make in the 2014.
hi richard thanks for the comment mate.yes i have thought about the shed blocking the mainlines and did first plan to have it the other side but i really want a sloped retaining wall like you see in london so the shed has to go at the front.as you see i put it as far back as it would go in order to see more of the mainline. its times like this that i wished i had a much longer loft lol. but you never know things may change as i go along as you know nothing ever turns out how you plan it.however i will take your comment on board as i regard you to be one of the best modelers around. terry
Very good work, detail is great. Those express tower lights look very good when powered up, i now have four but I had to send one back to be repaired as I snaged it with my jumper as they are very delicate at the top. Jim
thanks jim.yes they do look the part mate and took express models nearly a year to build them and i have another two more on order which i placed about a year ago actually, shit i have just realized how long its been so im going to give them a call in the morning to see where they have gone lol. terry
Terry, I'm late watching your update, but I particularly like the added detail on your road/overpass. The cut-and-restore look in the roadway for your drainage and access covers show your dedication to fine detail, and are things that are overlooked on most roadways I have seen. Looking forward as always to your next update, and thanks for sharing.
great work there Terry, love the new shed and depot. May i suggest on the far side of the layout where you plan to build a retaining wall, you could build a small marshaling/storage yard for your wagons and coaches. With your expertise in scratch building the new TMD area, this small yard will give the impression of a BR 80's atmosphere, along with your rolling stock, would look great on this side of the layout. :)
What a great new year update, your building skills are first class! Love the large shed and the nice sweeping curves on the track, wish i had the room to do that ;-) Love all the little details you have added, they do make the layout come alive. Another well put together video, Your layout now has got to be the best on you tube. Happy new year. Mark
the best on youtube?.... have you been drinking that funny water again lol. honestly tho mate i appreciate the encouraging words and im working hard to make it the best on youtube but there are so many good layouts to compete with tho. happy new year bud terry
Hi Terry. Thought I'd missed this one but then realised that I'd already watched it at least twice? If so, apologies for not commenting earlier in the year. Dementia at my age, not good. DMU shed is massive, office unit looks superb, new details around the layout are of the usual top standard we've come to expect from you & as for everything else, BRILLIANT. Hopefully by the time I've finished watching this for the third time, you'll be uploading the latest update. What else can I say? FANTASTIC. Cheers Ian.
well thank you very much ian i am humbled. i was thinking of posting a short update this weekend as i have had a lot of people asking when the next update is. it will be a short update as not much work has been done but more of a video on what my plans are.
The 'dogs danglies' Terry, superb update and a great, continued, inspiration. All the best for 2014 and hope it's a better year for you and the family!
WOW Terry I dont know what to say mate, looks absolutely fantastic!!, love the ideas you have and I cant wait to get to your stage. The TMD is gonna be great and the scratch building is superb. Keep in touch. Cheers Terry
thanks steve i found scratch building very daunting at first but i love it now and find it quite simple to do now.im gradually replacing the ready to plonk buildings with my own made buildings as it makes my layout stand out from the rest and unique. terry
Looks great Terry. I think as the shed is large, the lines at the front of the depot would be better than a green area as it would make the depot appear a lot bigger, I think otherwise the shed may look a little out of place due to its size. Maybe not have another shed but just some lines across the front, rake storage lines or something? The extra detail you have done is brilliant, I really like both the mud/damp bits in the station depot and the finish on the road. Keep it up :) Lewis
thanks for the comment lewis. after reading some of the comments along with yours i agree that the extra lines would suit the large shed but i also agree in not adding another shed but to have two long over grown extra sidings then having a hillside running up to the edge of the baseboards.
hiTerry..Michael Burke here from Ireland .I ve been following your videos since you ve started doing them .They are fantastic .I get great ideas from your layout .I actually scrapped my own layout during the year and am at present rebuilding it to make it look more realistic .I ve copied your original Art Deco Station that you had over the track in the station area .Look forward to your next video .Regards Michael
hi michael thanks for the comment and for following my progress from the start.im glad you enjoy what i do and pleased that it has helped you on your way to building your dream layout. is your layout here on youtube as i would like to take a look at it. all the best mate terry
cheers dave.yes all plans at this stage but it never turns out how you plan it in your head does it lol. but it does look as tho i have plenty of work ahead of me in 2014, i just wished i was retired like you so i have more time to spend on it. terry
Very awesome looking layout, I follow few ppl and their layout but love your work and attention to details like drain on bridge and different cement work around it, all the overgrown weeds and stuff looks really nice and realistic.
thanks. for me the realism is in the little added details.the details that may not get noticed at first glance but when all the little details in the back ground come together that is what makes the difference in a good layout and a great layout.not that im saying mines a great layout but im working hard on getting that way. terry
i feel the same when looking at others layouts. if it was not for every one else here on youtube i think i would have lost interest in this hobby a long time ago.
Your attention to detail is amazing Terry, i also think that extra track you want is not overkill as with four running lines you will probably need as much storage as possible, ps i like your Turners depot, im going to try and create a Eddie Stobart themed one.
Very impressive work Terry! Happy New Year to you all. I honestly thought that depot office/warehouse was an RTR model - it's that good! Very much looking forward to seeing the progress. Haven't seen you since Warley a couple of years ago so need to get to this year's... All the best bud!
A very good update, you have a nice layout there Terry. I like the idea of the DMU shed it looks good so far.You have given me some ideas for when I next change my layout. Look forward to your next update.Happy New Year.
Just found this video and your other layout updates you have posted and its a cracking looking layout. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next video.
"I haven't really done much to be honest" - followed by LOADS that has been done LOL! Great update as always Terry - the whole DMU project looks very exciting & will keep you busy :)
Your work is a considerable inspiration to me. I think the office building is quite grand and I am sure the DMU shed will come out very well too. I am looking forward to further updates. Rob
Hi Terry wow I think you have been very busy all those little details seem to take longer than larger details really like the tmd area don't think the amount of track looks out of place also really like the scratch built office building looks awesome I've just done a footbridge and am hoping to start on the station soon anyway great update and look forward to future progress and also a happy new year to you and your family cheers Kevin
Nice one Terry Have you thought of using Pizza bases for your retaining wall? Free and easy to do with a pencil scoring whatever size block or brick you want. I have made yards of the stuff but I do like a Pizza! Dave
Hi Terry great update, really like the dmu shed, and the new track plan, think the diesel shed in front will look good with the extra track, have to show us how you did the road it look very realistic ESP with the drain covers, fantastic stuff looking forward to your next update
thanks andy. yes im pleased with the road so far and if you want i will upload a video on how i achieved the road surface.it took some time to do but well worth the effort i think. terry
Glebe Road Junction that would be great Terry, I got a couple of sections of road to do myself soon, so that will help a lot mate, looks far better than grey/black painted board Andy
Looking good as usual. Your attention to detail is amazing. When you say "not done much", that's an understatement - though there is always plenty more to do! I agree that if there is some way to place the TMD behind your mainlines it's worth considering but the trade off is often found in making the mainline curve a little steeper to leave room for scenery behind. It's a negative of a layout being viewed from the inside and not the outside like exhibition layouts. But whatever you do, I'm sure you'll make it work well and look incredible. Happy new year, looking forward to progress on "phase 2" in 2014!
thanks very much for the comment. i have been thinking a lot about having the shed behind the mainlines and did plan it to be there first but i really want a retaining wall so im having to sacrifice but nothing is for certain yet as things always change as you go along. having comments full of ideas like what you have just left me is why i started up my youtube channel and post updates as others ideas and take on things are invaluable and its always good to get outside prospective on things so you have certainly got me thinking now but i have lots of time to get it right and im not rushing it. anyway happy new year mate terry
Really nice layout. Got some ideas. The track under the turner's area needs to have some ballast - it's very noticeably bare. With the loco yard, the three tracks you mentioned you weren't happy with; cut down the furthest two to a loco length each but extend the nearest to the edge a few loco lengths, going into a slight cutting in the hillside. Then you can pile some diesels in there and it looks a bit different and requires shunting to get them out. Can't wait to see what happens on this side of the layout!
You are being modest there is some great progress here which is good to see. The depot shed is a massive building and given your attention to detail it will take its time and look all the better at the end. I see what you mean that less is sometimes more and that you are thinking of grass rather than more sidings. But given that you have lots of locos I would think you will need all the space you can get and its a big layout so it can support the extra sidings.
yes i think you could be right about the extra sidings as i do have a few locos. i think i may just have two longer over grown sidings then add a slight hillside running up to the edge of the base board. as for the shed well it is rather large and will take some time to complete but im not rushing it as i dont want to ruin it. terry
Another great update, with fantastic ideas and creative minor details to the layout. Have a great 2014 and look forward to seeing the Glebe Road depot develop. Cheers, Matt :D
OMG Best OO gauge layout I ever seen. I remember the only thing on the layout was just the station not painted and some track down now it's a piece of artwork!
Really good update and love your future plans. I think with the amount of locos you have i think it justifies a large amount of track around the new TMD. The building is awesome and i genuinely cant wait til next tome i can visit and see it in the flesh. Happy New Year mate. Jason.
cheers jason and your welcome round again any time you like. i only charge £50 entry fee lol. seriously tho next time you should come round for the whole day.
Great update as usual and I am looking forward to seeing the layout progress this year. Do you have any idea where you can get the mud textured paint from. thanks
Terry Typical Pizzas you get from Tesco etc have a round base of foam / styrene. These are great for cutting into walls that you can then scribe with a pencil to show relief for brickwork or stonework. A wash of paint into the scribe then a colour over brings out the pointwork perfectly. Better than anything you can buy and of course free! Then extra strips glued on to form the extra thickness for arches if you so wish. I can send you photos if you like Dave
thanks terry but im not very technically minded when it comes to phones and computers .il start doing videos on my new phone and see what there like .thanks for your replies to my comments .looking forward to your next update .regards michael
thanks steve. my next video will be a euro alliance running video but im not to hot on the old pc so may pick your brains about adding the alliance logo and other details in the video once i have filmed it.
hi thanks for the comment. im not sure when the next update will be as i have not done any work on the layout since i posted this video.i will try to get one done for next month if i have time.
Hi Terry, I am sure I have asked this before, but what is the foam you use for the embankments at the back of the station? Its not expanded polystyrene, but for the life of me I cant remember what you said it was and also where did you get it? Hope you can help, cheers. Dave
Fantastic layout terry I am new to this hobby hope that my layout looks as good as this in the future. This me one of the best layouts on here what a talent Graeme
Great update Terry, Happy New Year to you too. Where did you get the drain covers on the bridge? Look great! You paint them yourself too?, let me know how you did this, as it looks the part. Dave
hi dave thanks for the comment mate.i think the drains came from langley models web site.and yes they need to be painted first and i just sprayed them in railmatch sleeper grime and then just weathered them with a bit of black. its a long process to get the road surface looking like it does so i will post a how to video of how i did it soon as a lot of people have asked the same question. hopefully that will show you how to do it better than typed words. happy new year pal terry
yeah you can get lots of good detailing stuff from there.have you looked on ten commandments too and layouts4u as well as express models. all good places to look.
Yeah I use 10 commandments, as they are local to me and express models have some great stuff, inc lit buffer stops, yards lights etc. Langley are coming to Model Rail Scotland in Feb, I will have a good look there and get the drain covers.
As always a very enjoyable update Terry! You have captured that NSE 46 perfectly! And the VT 57/3 is spot on too, they never got very dirty really! Ive been meaning to do an update but always feel I've not done enough stuff! You've built half a layout since my last! I know you'll nit be able to reply to me so the best way is to contact me via the forum! Anyway hope you're had a smashing xmas and have a happy new year mate!
Hi Terry great update love the station area are love what ur doing with the dmu shed can't wait for the next update I post more layout running I'm make my layout long just finish build the shed add on my layout going to be 15 ft by 6 ft long I want a big dmu shed to mate cheers terry
Really good mate! The idea of the TMD and the track plan you got drawn is good! I like the idea of a lot of track as it makes it fun and more interesting :) should have a container yard thingy! Anyway looks brilliant! All the best, mike :)
hi terry .the old layout is up under the heading of burkeyrail .it was filmed with an old phone during the summer so the quality is not great .the old layout looks very cluttered and toy like when seen on video .its in a purpose built building behind the house .the layout is approx 26 ft by11 ft .its all stripped now and im in the middle of the new on .the new layout is not on youtube as i have nt a clue how to do it .my cousin put up the old one for me .regards michael
its not as easy uploading a video onto youtube as it once was.i would find it hard to explain how to do it but if you find out how to then please post some videos as you go along as i would love to see how you get on and will help in any way i can.
there wont be an update for a while yet as i have not worked on the layout since xmas. but i may do a running video this weekend as i have a few new additions to my fleet.
Loving the DMU area, it reminds me a lot of Kirkdale TMD on Merseyrail which is just down the road from me. If you get the time it's well worth a look on Google maps. Mike.
I do like the ideas. The only one I would be concerned about is the motorway. It looks good the way it is that corner. Shame to change it. Hey its your layout. It will turn out good what ever the outcome. Thumbs up from me.
someones been busy excellent update tmd is looking good, your scratch built office is really good as well, the way you have weathered your stock looks realistic cheers.
hi graham i dont think i will post a video of me building it or a how to as there is so much involved in scratch building and there would have to be lots of video parts which means so much more work.but i will try to post updates as i go along to show the changes in progress. but if you want to know how i did certain things then just ask and i will try to explain how i did it.scratch building can be a lengthy job but is fairly simple to do. terry
absolutely love the layout and the building you have scratch built how mutch do you generally spend on scratch building something because I am restarting again and don't have a massive budget
cheers mate. well it wont cost as much to scratch build a building as it would to buy one from bachmann.you will need to get a fair bit of materials to begin with which will cost a fair bit but will also go a long way and build a few good models and you just replace and buy extra material as you go along which keeps the cost down. i use 30 thou plastikard to build all buildings which i get from station road baseboards as they are far cheaper than anyone else but i get the embossed brick sheets from slater although not cheap it is of a far better quality which you really need as you dont want to spend ages building something just for the brick work to ruin it all. terry
Video working now Terry I blame google lol, Happy new year to you and your family Terry not much done lol you've done loads mate, great build on the DMU shed looks amazing and all the finishing touches to the station side of the layout is superb like the way you've done the drains in the road and the diesel spills in the little depot area there's just too many things to list. I could do an update mate but only can get 1 min 30secs lol to show how sad is that and nearly two weeks off work for Christmas boohoo me lol. Cheers for the update Terry glad the video worked in the end bloody Google. Kev
hi kev thanks for the comment mate.its not a lot really only little details really.i have only been working on the dmu shed for the last few months and thats it. im very pleased with the road surface and drains and i just need to add the white and yellow lines now. im sure you have more that 1min 30 secs to show mate but i bet its very cold out in the shed right now mate. terry
Not done much at all Terry to my layout mate,my new job doesn't give me enough free time in the winter evenings hope it will change come spring. Your update was superb Terry so impressive on the scratch building I'm in envy of your talents to detail and the proof is in the pudding mate on the number of views and subscribers to Glebe Road that's your work Terry that's done that and you should be very proud of yourself. Just an idea you say about too many tracks by the dmu shed you could put static grass a weeds covering them like you see on real sheds and yards and park the odd loco or two in front of the shed.. Cheers for showing Kev.
percomotion stop it your making me blush kev lol. everyone has said to keep them so it looks like im keeping them although im only going to have two long overgrown sidings then a slight hillside leading to the edge of the baseboard. plenty of time to think things over tho mate. i bet your looking forwards to the warmer weather so you can get a crack on with the layout.
You have done quite a lot in a short period of time. Looks REALLY good. The TMD should be interesting? Question? I noticed you have a Bachmann Dynamis like mine. Do you find Hornby locos short on the points (if you have Peco points?).
great update! love your plans and the emu shed looks great! really replicated old oak common well! maybe we might actually see a hst set on the layout to go with it now? lol - regarding your bachmann single road and two road sheds what do you plan to do with those?
a hst is and has been on my wish list for a very long time now but im waiting for hornby to get their act together and start producing some more kits first. i have no need for either engine shed now and have not even used them yet so are still brand new.so im going to sell them along with some other bbrand new buildings still in boxes that have never been opened. you interested? terry
yes hornby have not got their act together on their HST's. What livery were you going to go for? & i would be interested in the double road engine shed? how much is it going for and what other buildings do you have on offer?
***** well i want the intercity grey and white plus the blue and yellow livery. the shed is around £60 new and my one has never been used so i want around £30 for it.cant remember what other buildings i have of the top of my head but send me your email and i can send photos over for you to see.
Hi, Trying to find those green electrical cabinet next to the £1,000,000 earning speed camera at 6.15min of video. Where did you get them? Also, I have those etched brass drain covers, but not sure what shade to paint them, what did you paint yours with? Dave p.s. - That money from the speed cameras in your bank acc yet?
God i wished mate...if the money had gone in id have a much better layout than this lol. i think the electrical boxes were from unit models...not 100% tho.
It looks great and good video. I have only one issue and it's you have speed camera on it. If it's one thing I'd never model on layout it's one of them.
Hiya mate, glad to c a new vid :) some awesome scratch building taking place!!! Them offices r brill, n that shed is gonna look amazing!! Im lookin forward to all these plans of urs taking shape :) can i ask?! Were they puddles u had modelled in front of the EWS 08? If so cud u tel me he u went about doin them?? And a Happy New Year to u :)
thanks matthew. yes they were puddles and all i did was place clear plastic sheet down on the raw baseboard then used milliput to make the surrounding area. but i first painted the clear plastic underneath in black. all i di then was painted the milliput and added grass etc. i then painted on top of the plastic a coat of clear humbrol gloss to make it look like water.
Yeh a lot less messier! Ive made sum puddles on mine this wk with realistic water, n i dnt think the too bad?! You'll hav to giv ur professional opinion wen i pt nxt vid on :) i did it jst to avoid havin to take ground cover up!! Did u ever order any plates from NarrowPlanet?
I love it layout and now building own because of it! Would love to meet sometime and grab some tips! Modern image rules, I gonna go full dcc sound though! Already made your platforms trying to find an early video of ur track as stick on wooden and concrete etc as concrete Peco points are electro frog only :(
you will find that most track has now been replaced with concrete sleepers and most points have stayed the same with wooden sleepers as it costs a lot more to replace points on the real railway.thats why i have mixed it up. but you will need to weather the track in order for it not to stand out like a sore thumb.
That's brilliant thanks for that been wondering how best to encorporate supposed Peco haven't made more sleeper variations once their other ranges it seems. Love the lighting going in too hopefully soon I will be able to get a video up myself of my idea still making the boards. Can't wait to see the next update.
I love your how toos so if you looking for videos be nice to see more of the track laying and ballasting and weathering as your realism is what we love seeing and trying to recreate on our own layouts :)

Very good work, detail is great. Those express tower lights look very good when powered up, i now have four but I had to send one back to be repaired as I snaged it with my jumper as they are very delicate at the top. Jim
thanks jim.yes they do look the part mate and took express models nearly a year to build them and i have another two more on order which i placed about a year ago actually, shit i have just realized how long its been so im going to give them a call in the morning to see where they have gone lol.
terry
hi terry,
i last ordered two they took around 4-5 weeks to be made & delivered mid December 13
really, well where the hell are my ones gone then. its been a year now.
They must of got you order mixed up , ring them up explain & you might get a discount etc......jim
Terry, I'm late watching your update, but I particularly like the added detail on your road/overpass. Hello terry, very good update. During the holidays, i went back to the scenary also. Soon a little update vidéo.
keep up the good work, Gérard.
thanks gerard looking forwards to your update.

Absolutely fantastic looking layout Terry and the opening shot of the class 08 is to die for, it looks so realistic. Well done mate. …………….Graham
thanks graham. yeah i liked the look of the 08 at the start too.
Always amazed at your attention to detail...love it!...Happy New Year!
thanks mate happy new year to you too.

hi michael
thanks for the comment and for following my progress from the start.im glad you enjoy what i do and pleased that it has helped you on your way to building your dream layout.
is your layout here on youtube as i would like to take a look at it.
all the best mate
terry
You have done great guns there Terry , all looking very realistic , some good plans that you have in mind there ..well done so far
cheers dave.yes all plans at this stage but it never turns out how you plan it in your head does it lol. but it does look as tho i have plenty of work ahead of me in 2014, i just wished i was retired like you so i have more time to spend on it.

Glebe Road Junction Stay young whilst you can ...
Very awesome looking layout, I follow few ppl and their layout but love your work and attention to details like drain on bridge and different cement work around it, all the overgrown weeds and stuff looks really nice and realistic.

Great update, always look forward to watching the level of realism in your layout grow and inspires me to enjoy the hobby even more cheers
i feel the same when looking at others layouts. if it was not for every one else here on youtube i think i would have lost interest in this hobby a long time ago.
Just to wish you a happy new year and just keep giving us the enjoyment and helping us to do things on our layouts and ideas
Your attention to detail is amazing Terry, i also think that extra track you want is not overkill as with four running lines you will probably need as much storage as possible, ps i like your Turners depot, im going to try and create a Eddie Stobart themed one.
thanks mate. so far everyone has said that i should keep the extra sidings and i think you maybe right.
and yes go for it and build a stobart depot.
Very impressive work Terry! Happy New Year to you all. I honestly thought that depot office/warehouse was an RTR model - it's that good! Very much looking forward to seeing the progress. Haven't seen you since Warley a couple of years ago so need to get to this year's... All the best bud!
thanks mate. yes you need to go up this year.last years show was good as always.
Its always a real pleasure watching your videos terry thank you for uploading and best of luck for the new year. :)
thanks very much. happy new year!
A very good update, you have a nice layout there Terry. I like the idea of the DMU shed it looks good so far.You have given me some ideas for when I next change my layout. Look forward to your next update.Happy New Year.
thanks mate.good luck in changing your layout.
First class layout - super modern Image modelling - Look forward to further updates - Thanks.
thanks mate
Just found this video and your other layout updates you have posted and its a cracking looking layout. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next video.
thanks for the comment andrew.
"I haven't really done much to be honest" - followed by LOADS that has been done LOL! Great update as always Terry - the whole DMU project looks very exciting & will keep you busy :)
well not as much as i normally do lol. im going to be doing more to the dmu shed this weekend hopefully....if the wife lets me.
Your work is a considerable inspiration to me. I think the office building is quite grand and I am sure the DMU shed will come out very well too. I am looking forward to further updates. Rob
well thank you very much rob what a very nice comment.
i hope the DMU shed turns out well to and im working hard on it so it should do.
terry
Hi Terry wow I think you have been very busy all those little details seem to take longer than larger details really like the tmd area don't think the amount of track looks out of place also really like the scratch built office building looks awesome I've just done a footbridge and am hoping to start on the station soon anyway great update and look forward to future progress and also a happy new year to you and your family cheers Kevin
cheers kev happy new year mate
terry
Great update. Your static grass is looking top - definitely going to try out your tips. All the best.
it looks better now i have added the scatter on top.
Nice one Terry
Have you thought of using Pizza bases for your retaining wall? Free and easy to do with a pencil scoring whatever size block or brick you want. I have made yards of the stuff but I do like a Pizza!
Dave
not sure what you mean by pizza base but i will look into it.
Happy 2014. Great update. The shed looks great. Looking forward to you future videos.
cheers. HNY to you too.
Thank you
Looking good as usual.
Happy new year, looking forward to progress on "phase 2" in 2014!
thanks very much for the comment. i have been thinking a lot about having the shed behind the mainlines and did plan it to be there first but i really want a retaining wall so im having to sacrifice but nothing is for certain yet as things always change as you go along.
having comments full of ideas like what you have just left me is why i started up my youtube channel and post updates as others ideas and take on things are invaluable and its always good to get outside prospective on things so you have certainly got me thinking now but i have lots of time to get it right and im not rushing it.
anyway happy new year mate
terry
Really nice layout. Got some ideas. The track under the turner's area needs to have some ballast - it's very noticeably bare. With the loco yard, the three tracks you mentioned you weren't happy with; cut down the furthest two to a loco length each but extend the nearest to the edge a few loco lengths, going into a slight cutting in the hillside. Then you can pile some diesels in there and it looks a bit different and requires shunting to get them out. Can't wait to see what happens on this side of the layout!
Thanks for the comment mate.yes i really do need to get the ballasting done under the tunnel and is on my very long lisy of things to finish.
You are being modest there is some great progress here which is good to see. The depot shed is a massive building and given your attention to detail it will take its time and look all the better at the end. I see what you mean that less is sometimes more and that you are thinking of grass rather than more sidings. But given that you have lots of locos I would think you will need all the space you can get and its a big layout so it can support the extra sidings.
yes i think you could be right about the extra sidings as i do have a few locos.
i think i may just have two longer over grown sidings then add a slight hillside running up to the edge of the base board.
as for the shed well it is rather large and will take some time to complete but im not rushing it as i dont want to ruin it.
terry
Looking good Terry I like the DMU shed and look forward to seeing how the TMD takes shape Happy New Year
Darren
thanks darren happy new year.
Another great update, with fantastic ideas and creative minor details to the layout. Have a great 2014 and look forward to seeing the Glebe Road depot develop. Cheers, Matt :D
thanks matt yes its going to be a busy 2014 by the looks of it.
terry
Hi Terry ...Great to see Glebe Road back...look forward to 2014 developments. Geoff........
thanks geoff looking forwards to cracking on with it.
OMG Best OO gauge layout I ever seen. I remember the only thing on the layout was just the station not painted and some track down now it's a piece of artwork!
lol thanks mate.yeah its come along way since just the bare station.
Cracking update terry you've got some good plans there for the next few months clear nail varnish is a good fuel spill also.
Cheers Ian
awesome terry i'm loving the dmu shed and the station area, look like its finished!!! :)
not finished yet but its getting there.
Amazing layout have been following it for a while now and it is good to see how it has grown
cheers mate. still lots of growing to do yet tho.
Great update as usual and I am looking forward to seeing the layout progress this year. Do you have any idea where you can get the mud textured paint from. thanks
Terry
Typical Pizzas you get from Tesco etc have a round base of foam / styrene.
I can send you photos if you like
Dave
that sounds good. i know what you mean now. i think i will give it a test to see how it comes out.
cheers
terry
thanks terry but im not very technically minded when it comes to phones and computers .il start doing videos on my new phone and see what there like .thanks for your replies to my comments .looking forward to your next update .regards michael
Hi Terry,
Another excellent and entertaining video update. The scenery is coming along well. Well done my friend.
STEVIE B.
thanks steve. my next video will be a euro alliance running video but im not to hot on the old pc so may pick your brains about adding the alliance logo and other details in the video once i have filmed it.
Glebe Road Junction
Look forward to it Terry ... I'll help if I can, not knowing (yet) your video editing programme.
STEVIE B.
i just use the youtube editor.
Hi when are you going to make another update because I just love watching your videos and it inspires me on what I'm going to do on my layout.
hi thanks for the comment.
im not sure when the next update will be as i have not done any work on the layout since i posted this video.i will try to get one done for next month if i have time.
Hi Terry, I am sure I have asked this before, but what is the foam you use for the embankments at the back of the station? Its not expanded polystyrene, but for the life of me I cant remember what you said it was and also where did you get it? Hope you can help, cheers. Dave
Awesome stuff,, like your modeling to!
thanks mate.
Fantastic layout terry I am new to this hobby hope that my layout looks as good as this in the future. This me one of the best layouts on here what a talent
Graeme
thanks graeme.
there is no reason why your layout cant be better than mine.
just give me a shout if you need any help along the way.
Cant stop noticing your amazing detail!!! 5 star.
thank you very much.
Happy new year mate. Very good update Terry you got lots going on there. Looking forward to your next update.
thanks mate yes i have given myself to much work to do.but at least if will keep me busy and out of trouble for a while.
Great update Terry, Happy New Year to you too. Where did you get the drain covers on the bridge? Look great! You paint them yourself too?, let me know how you did this, as it looks the part. Dave
hi dave
thanks for the comment mate.i think the drains came from langley models web site.and yes they need to be painted first and i just sprayed them in railmatch sleeper grime and then just weathered them with a bit of black.
its a long process to get the road surface looking like it does so i will post a how to video of how i did it soon as a lot of people have asked the same question.
hopefully that will show you how to do it better than typed words.
happy new year pal
terry
Cheers Terry, Langley models...I have taken a note of that! ;-)
yeah you can get lots of good detailing stuff from there.have you looked on ten commandments too and layouts4u as well as express models. all good places to look.
Yeah I use 10 commandments, as they are local to me and express models have some great stuff, inc lit buffer stops, yards lights etc. Langley are coming to Model Rail Scotland in Feb, I will have a good look there and get the drain covers.
Coming along nicely mate! Impressive stuff there!
Happy New Year to you mate!
Caz.
thanks caz
As always a very enjoyable update Terry! You have captured that NSE 46 perfectly! And the VT 57/3 is spot on too, they never got very dirty really! Ive been meaning to do an update but always feel I've not done enough stuff! You've built half a layout since my last! I know you'll nit be able to reply to me so the best way is to contact me via the forum! Anyway hope you're had a smashing xmas and have a happy new year mate!
not sure if you will get this comment tom but thanks anyway.
For once I have got a comment back! Yey google is now starting to work
Problem with the video Terry but have to say I was not notified of your update this google thing needs sorting.
Kev
Hi Terry great update love the station area are love what ur doing with the dmu shed can't wait for the next update I post more layout running I'm make my layout long just finish build the shed add on my layout going to be 15 ft by 6 ft long I want a big dmu shed to mate cheers terry

Happy New Year to u, brill job on the overhead caterny post
excellent start to the traction shed your detal on ur whole layout is dogs
Neil
thanks neil, comments like this is what keeps me going so cheers.
terry
Cool, nice layout. Just subbed, and looking forward to the future developments of this project.
thanks for subbing
Really good mate! The idea of the TMD and the track plan you got drawn is good! I like the idea of a lot of track as it makes it fun and more interesting :) should have a container yard thingy! Anyway looks brilliant! All the best, mike :)
thanks. i would like a container terminal but just dont have room for one and dont want to cram loads in as that will ruin the layout.
I take it that was you in the cab of the shunter at the beginning?! Superb layout!
lol cheers mate
Love your model rail so much.
thanks im fond of it too lol.
hi terry .the old layout is up under the heading of burkeyrail .it was filmed with an old phone during the summer so the quality is not great .the old layout looks very cluttered and toy like when seen on video .its in a purpose built building behind the house .the layout is approx 26 ft by11 ft .its all stripped now and im in the middle of the new on .the new layout is not on youtube as i have nt a clue how to do it .my cousin put up the old one for me .regards michael
its not as easy uploading a video onto youtube as it once was.i would find it hard to explain how to do it but if you find out how to then please post some videos as you go along as i would love to see how you get on and will help in any way i can.
hi terry .just wondering when your next update wil b uploaded .regards michael
there wont be an update for a while yet as i have not worked on the layout since xmas.
but i may do a running video this weekend as i have a few new additions to my fleet.
Loving the DMU area, it reminds me a lot of Kirkdale TMD on Merseyrail which is just down the road from me. If you get the time it's well worth a look on Google maps. Mike.
thanks mike i will take a look.
Yeah, it does look like Kirkdale TMD, but Terry has proper locomotives in his depot and not the class 507's and 508's that we have! lol
Just seen your channel looking good so I've subscribed and liked all your bids
Always an inspiration, looks great.
cheers
I do like the ideas. The only one I would be concerned about is the motorway. It looks good the way it is that corner. Shame to change it. Hey its your layout. It will turn out good what ever the outcome. Thumbs up from me.
thanks mate. i know what your saying and i have always wanted a motorway and i dont like the tunnel that i currently have so it has to go.
someones been busy excellent update tmd is looking good, your scratch built office is really good as well, the way you have weathered your stock looks realistic cheers.
thanks keith.
you should make the hotel a travel lodge because in my town we have a one that looks like that
Can u do a vid on depot layout plan what points and also how they work ie what. Double /single slip for Ect
i will try to do a video as i go along.
will you be doing a video of building warehouse and engine sheds ??? i do enjoy your videos keep the good work up graham
hi graham
i dont think i will post a video of me building it or a how to as there is so much involved in scratch building and there would have to be lots of video parts which means so much more work.but i will try to post updates as i go along to show the changes in progress.
but if you want to know how i did certain things then just ask and i will try to explain how i did it.scratch building can be a lengthy job but is fairly simple to do.
terry
absolutely love the layout and the building you have scratch built how mutch do you generally spend on scratch building something because I am restarting again and don't have a massive budget
cheers mate.
well it wont cost as much to scratch build a building as it would to buy one from bachmann.you will need to get a fair bit of materials to begin with which will cost a fair bit but will also go a long way and build a few good models and you just replace and buy extra material as you go along which keeps the cost down.
i use 30 thou plastikard to build all buildings which i get from station road baseboards as they are far cheaper than anyone else but i get the embossed brick sheets from slater although not cheap it is of a far better quality which you really need as you dont want to spend ages building something just for the brick work to ruin it all.
terry
Video working now Terry I blame google lol,
Happy new year to you and your family Terry not much done lol you've done loads mate, great build on the DMU shed looks amazing and all the finishing touches to the station side of the layout is superb like the way you've done the drains in the road and the diesel spills in the little depot area there's just too many things to list.
I could do an update mate but only can get 1 min 30secs lol to show how sad is that and nearly two weeks off work for Christmas boohoo me lol.
Cheers for the update Terry glad the video worked in the end bloody Google.
Kev
hi kev
thanks for the comment mate.its not a lot really only little details really.i have only been working on the dmu shed for the last few months and thats it.
im very pleased with the road surface and drains and i just need to add the white and yellow lines now.
im sure you have more that 1min 30 secs to show mate but i bet its very cold out in the shed right now mate.
Tmd signing were ur pen crosses what point slips,u use
great update! love your plans and the emu shed looks great! really replicated old oak common well! maybe we might actually see a hst set on the layout to go with it now? lol - regarding your bachmann single road and two road sheds what do you plan to do with those?
a hst is and has been on my wish list for a very long time now but im waiting for hornby to get their act together and start producing some more kits first.
i have no need for either engine shed now and have not even used them yet so are still brand new.so im going to sell them along with some other bbrand new buildings still in boxes that have never been opened.
you interested?
terry
yes hornby have not got their act together on their HST's. What livery were you going to go for? & i would be interested in the double road engine shed? how much is it going for and what other buildings do you have on offer?
*****
well i want the intercity grey and white plus the blue and yellow livery.
the shed is around £60 new and my one has never been used so i want around £30 for it.cant remember what other buildings i have of the top of my head but send me your email and i can send photos over for you to see.
cheers will do that now
Glebe Road Junction i have sent you my email on private message have you got it? as i have been having trouble with my youtube messages recently
Fantastic layout really coming along! If you get rid of that lafarge depot can I have first refusal please ;)
i dont think i will be getting rid of it but maybe moving it.
Great update buddy, look forward to further one's cheers Stu @ Lime Junction
cheers stu. lime junction? not sure i have seen it.is it on your home page page if so im on my way over to take a look at it.
terry
Yep, if you go to my channel there's plenty to watch, channel is "suzuki750stu" cheers
suzuki750stu ok checking it out now mate.
when will we see another update?
maybe in a few weeks time.
Hi,
Trying to find those green electrical cabinet next to the £1,000,000 earning speed camera at 6.15min of video. Where did you get them? Also, I have those etched brass drain covers, but not sure what shade to paint them, what did you paint yours with?
Dave
p.s. - That money from the speed cameras in your bank acc yet?
God i wished mate...if the money had gone in id have a much better layout than this lol.
i think the electrical boxes were from unit models...not 100% tho.
yup they are from Unit, saw them on the website. Cheers.
Money couldn't make your layout that much better surely? ;-)
lol well id like to be able to give it a go...a few million should do it.
Wow! great update can't wait till the next time ! HNY 2014
cheers mate.
happy new year
It looks great and good video. I have only one issue and it's you have speed camera on it. If it's one thing I'd never model on layout it's one of them.
Great layout very impressed
thanks, still lots to do yet
Right Terry were is the update still waiting......lols
no update for a while im afraid as i have not worked on the layout since xmas.
That looks awesome mate cant wait to see your next update :)
cheers. not sure when that will be tho.
Nice update mate, it's looking really gd can't wait to see more
cheers mate i cant wait to build more.
have u still got the layout
I love the three wheel shutters I get them to pull my express
the class 08's are one of my favorites too.
Looking good what paint did you use to weather the track?
i use railmatch sleeper grime for the rail sides and surrounding ballast and then use railmatch weathered black for the center of the rails.
Ahhhh, u used that technique?! Wel they look gud, thats why i asked becoz it didnt look like that method?!! Very nice :)
its easier and less messy than realistic water although i did use that stuff for the river.plus its much cheaper.
Can't wait to see the next update.
well hopefully i will get an update posted at the weekend but not much work has been done so it will be fairly short.
I love your how toos so if you looking for videos be nice to see more of the track laying and ballasting and weathering as your realism is what we love seeing and trying to recreate on our own layouts :)
when is your next layout update?
oh im not sure, it wont be for a while as i have not been in the loft since i posted this update.
Looking good
Hi when are you going to do another update
not for a while as i have not been in the loft since xmas.
Do u have a shunter
i have three 08's one 03 and a sentinel shunter.
Ok brilliant
more please its March!
lol im trying to get as much work done as possible at the moment, well enough to do a video at the end of the month.
Marker ds or bs
Can u make me a n guage depo shed
