Wow Terry, am more than impressed, am astounded at how much you have achieved since your last update and your attention to detail. The station & bridge look great & the weathering & detail is all really good. The car park is coming on nicely & I particularly like the TMD, like the detail of subtle weathering below the fuel pumps & am amazed how all the detail & placement gives a realistic sense of activity & motion to your layout... Top skills and application of them, am really impressed! - Sim
Your work on the road and pedestrian bridges is impressive they look like professional kits. I like your idea of adding points in front of the signal box, you could then add other features like point rods and cranks, ground signals etc. Very good update . Cheers,Michael.
You should be pleased Terry, it's really looking good! The water feature you were talking about reminds me of a disused area of a station that was ripped up and sectioned off after some cutbacks... swampy and strewn with litter? As for the points coming in to the station - yes, go for it, I think you're right about the 'junction' aspect. I've just moved back home from being in the US for the past 7 years so you and Everard are an inspiration!
Looking every inch an exhibition layout Terry and your right mate you should be very pleased with the results so far. The station is stunning and your skills as a scratch builder are superb leaving us all behind now mate, the small TMD works well with the station area(I do like the colour of your brick work)look forward to your next video. Cheers Kev
I really like the look of the new station buildings. you should weather up a shunter with heavily faded paint from running carriages through the washer. a great job as always!
Very good. I love it!! I particularliy like the little TMD you have done by the station. I always remember as a younger kid watching the trains 'going to bed' at one statio in london. (cannot for the life of me remember what the name is). And it reminded me of that!! Good as always, love the video. Keep up the good work.
Looking good mate. The TMD is brilliant, really adds a lot to the station area and the bridges look fantastic, definitely a prime location for some graffiti! Cheers, Mike.
Nice work Terry The small TMD is looking very realistic, that warehouse would make a nice wagon repair shop. Fit some signs to it and perhaps add a door and it will look right at home in a small yard like that. Interesting about redoing the station approach. Looking at the space you have there it's going to be difficult to get all the point work in, might have to go for some curved points. Look forward to seeing the next vid Cheers
Nice job on the gantries Terry , and the bridge , all looks very good before you finish it . always like the way you have put plenty of details in ..Tre`s bonne Mon Ami ...thats from the French side lol,
really coming together now refuelling point looks great you could have the pikestuff kit as a wagon repair if used as a wharehouse it might be a bit awkward getting wagons in and out and locos for refuelling but whotever you decide the area is nicely detailed excellent result mate.next update sooner rather than later
Hi Terry, just got back from my holiday and your vid was first on my to do list! All amazing work, as usual. The whole side now looks eye bleeding! The only thing that don't match up to your high standard is the car park, only because its so flat. How about cutting the backboard behind it and actually having a 5/6 inch section behind it full of cars to make it look like the car park goes back. You could light it and I think it would look cool. Anyway, awesome work. Jason.
Everything is looking great mate, yes to your points, I think it would make it look like a very busy junction with trains going here there and everywhere. One small thing I think i would do different is the multi car park. I think it looks a liitle too flat and personally would probably make it look a little more 3D. Otherwise everything is coming on nicely. Station looks fab too.
hi shane i think the multi storey car park measures around 12 inches high. the road was made up with a first coat of tarmac paint and when dry i dry brushed lots if different shades of grey until i was happy with it.i used the same process with the path but used a sandy colour as a first coat to represent the concrete render and then again dry brushed lots of shades of brown and grey.its a long process but worth it.
another great update terry, your station is getting better and better, every time i see it, and the fueling points looks well good now, def better without the engine shed, maybe use the building as a network rail maintenance shed or warehouse or something like that, not sure I would change the throat of your station, could you leave that part of the layout as Glebe Rd station and have the junction side the left hand side of the concrete works
hi tommy the shed is going to be a small network rail maintenance shed.i use a static grass applicator just like the noch one but i got it from hong kong and was around £20 and works just the same. i use 2.5mm grass to begin with then top it up with 6mm grass to represent the overgrown areas and the grass i get from international models.
thanks richard your right about the shed.i am going to turn it into a small network rail wagon repair shed.ilike you say the signs still needs to be added along with the door and glass for the windows and other details. yeah im not to sure whether i will have the space to fit the points in unless i moved them into the platforms a little more but then that wont look realistic enough so it may have to be added else where.
hi, thanks for the comment. there is a lot to learn in the art of scratch building and far too much for me to mention. the best thing you can do is buy a dvd on scratch building from right track dvd's. in this video you will learn everything you need to know and is invaluable when starting out.
Fabulous update Terry. Its all looking wonderful. Now to watch the October update, I have some catching up to do :) I was just wandering what is the dimensions of the station baseboard section from the TMD to the signal box.
i know what you mean.i too had that problem and did not know where to start.but i say give it a go and believe it or not its a lot easier than you would think plus you get an enormous sense of satisfactory once its complete. i have not been scratch building that long and already im getting a lot better at it.
On your class 08s, try adding black weathering powered (Humbrol Black/smoke) to the rods with some oil (3 in 1), use a small brush to mix it and it looks really good on the rods of the shunters, I have done it to mine and it just makes them look that little bit more you see, give it a try and if you don't like it, you can just wipe it off with a damp cloth. But if you decide to keep it on, don't touch the rods, or you might get black dirty hands. :P
Excellent work Terry, Road bridge and footbridge look really cool, will you be adding maybe one light post to the footbridge or maybe something like a small wall mounted light to it to add atmosphere?
cheers kev. not sure its up to exhibition level just yet mate but im working hard to get my layout looking as good as blackmills etc.still a long way to go tho mate.and im still behind you on the realistic details side of things. terry
i am pleased with how the small tmd looks.i have since made a couple of alterations to it tho.i will soon start working on the other side of the layout.
hi terry .hope you and family are all well.simply amazing well done looks great.can i ask how high did you make your multi story car park.as i am now building with salters plastic card and it is amazing stuff .and what colour did you paint you road on you new overheard bridge and footpath as well.you can hear the sounds of London in the background.well done mate well done.simply the very best.
no repeated section, well i dont think so. your right about it being that thing that will always bug me.the problem is im not sure if there is enough space to fit the points in tho.
Awesome!!! Honestly its stonking!! Everything u hav completed looks amazing!! Ur scratch building is real pro!! And tht TMD is fantastic :) go for the pointwork, it shudnt b too hard i reckon?! Cnt wait to c wot else u create round the layout!!
Hi Terry, Just in case you are unaware, at 6.41 on this latest video your edit has gone back to the beginning at 1.06 and runs through the whole lot again. Great stuff though (twice). My advice is to make the junction to the left of your station over the reverse curves, it'll look great. STEVIE B.
Awesome work Terry, love the TMD and also great weathering and amazing attention to detail all over! How did you do the escalators?? Also Terry how did you do the concrete slabs? Are they a plaster type material or a thin wood painted up and weathered? I reckon the idea of adding the points is a good idea, although it will be tough ripping up the track - but will look great and as you say be really functional as a junction once done. Good work mate! Cheers, Dan
Nice work! :) Impressed with the scratch building, I'm gonna do a little diorama myself in the near future. Just something small as I don't have the space for a layout but it might keep me out of trouble! :) Love the TMD and I'm guessing the fueling point is the kit from knightwing? It looks really good, and even better for being lit up. Keep up the good work!
Hi, really enjoy watching your layout progress and think your scratch built station looks amazing, just wondering if you have any tips on scratchbuilding as I need to gain some confidence
thanks matthew.well i have lots of plans for the other side of the layout but that will be a while before i start on that as i still have a few jobs to finish off around the station.
thanks dan the escalators are a kit but cannot remember who makes them.you could always google oo gauge escalators and see what it comes up with.the concrete is made from white plastikard and all i did was scribe out the mortar lines with an olfa scriber and it looks very affective once painted and weathered.
Great work Terry, the layouts looking awesome! The little stabling yard looks great, I like what you did with the static grass around the tracks, makes it look over grown. I should have done that on Arena Parkway. Keep up the good work! How did you weather the vans etc? Was that done with an airbrush or by hand?
i will be adding street lights to the bridge and station car park when i get round to buying them.i have just a couple of jobs left to do on the station side to complete before i can start round the other side of the layout.
looking good mate! I want to make some of my own gantries... where did you get the brass components?... I was looking at using plastruct or kit bashing but ide prefer brass! Lee
well i will be building a fiddle yard at the back which you wont see as it will be hidden by a scenic board and in front of that i will be building a very large TMD with around three large sheds.one for the diesel engines, one for the DMU's and one for wagons. if there is any space left i will be adding some other kind of scenery too.
a few people have mentioned the car park.so im taking it down and im going to build the car park that can be down loaded from scale scenes as that is around two inches in depth.so that may look a lot more realistic i think.
yes i think your right. the signs where downloaded on my pc and printed out on my laser printer.all i did is search for photos or pictures of what ever your looking for using google and just saved the ones i liked and just print.
yeah i read Richards comments after mine, thought that was a good idea, also his comments about the junction, it may look a bit crammed in, unless you start under the bridge andy
it is a pikestuff plastic kit which i had to build up.i did alter it a fair bit to fit in with the layout as it is an american kit but overall its a good kit.i think its one of the only buildings on the layout i have not scratch built.
Great update! All the little details are superb. Love the TMD area and your scratch building skills are improving massively. Good job!
Wow Terry, am more than impressed, am astounded at how much you have achieved since your last update and your attention to detail. New additions look amazing Terry as always. Detailing looks fantastic.
Cheers

Great work going on there Terry.
Inspirational bridges.
Looking good mate. The TMD is brilliant, really adds a lot to the station area and the bridges look fantastic, definitely a prime location for some graffiti! Cheers, Mike.

Looking good Tarmac on bridge looks really good and love the scratch built bridge especially the rivets
Nice job on the gantries Terry , and the bridge , all looks very good before you finish it . always like the way you have put plenty of details in ..Tre`s bonne Mon Ami ...thats from the French side lol,
Great update, i reckon keep the track as it is and add some feather lights above the bridge, looking forward to the finished layout! Elliott :)
Love how the bridges are turning out. Keep up the good work and keep up the videos.
hello Terry, very good update as usual, you are " the artist" ( as Jean Dujardin ).
Gérard.
Wow looking fab all ready well done mate dont give up ;)
Looking really good mate - love the TMD which looks the business.
Personally i wouldnt worry too much about new points as long as it all works well!
Looks very good Terry! I would leave the station how it is, good update as always! Will
really coming together now refuelling point looks great you could have the pikestuff kit as a wagon repair if used as a wharehouse it might be a bit awkward getting wagons in and out and locos for refuelling but whotever you decide the area is nicely detailed excellent result mate.next update sooner rather than later

Superb layout. Very very realistic.
Another quality film,great weathering techniques.
cheers mate. im pleased with it.it has taken me a fair few hours to build it all.
Great video. good update. I think you should put the points in because it will give more operational flexibility
Great work well done. I think you should add point because then you can switch trains onto different parts of the station.
Everything is looking great mate, yes to your points, I think it would make it look like a very busy junction with trains going here there and everywhere. cheers mate.i do have an 08 which is looking very old and faded so i may add that to the sidings.
Thanks Terry, yeah it looks great, some good tips there! Cheers mate, Dan
A decent backscene will definitely complete the scene. Nice layout by the way

Wow this is one of the best layouts ever! This earns you a sub!
thanks mate.yes i think i will do the points when i get round to it.
living in the states...you lucky man as thats where i want to move to badly.
It would definitely be worth adding the points, great job so far though!
Thanks for getting back to me...Tried B&Q but they don't stock it anymore :((
cheers amte.yes i agree it may be too cramped to fit it in down the end of the station and maybe adding it in with the TMD would be a better idea.

May have to look at getting one.
Looks good to me! like the little TDM!

Great up update! Looking good
thanks for the comment.i weather everything with the airbrush and maybe other little details with enamel paints and a brush.
thanks tony.i have so much still to weather on the layout along with a fair few trains but i keep putting it off as im not keen on airbrushing.
i am pleased with how the small tmd looks.i have since made a couple of alterations to it tho.i will soon start working on the other side of the layout.
hi terry .hope you and family are all well.simply amazing well done looks great.can i ask how high did you make your multi story car park.as i am now building with salters plastic card and it is amazing stuff .and what colour did you paint you road on you new overheard bridge and footpath as well.you can hear the sounds of London in the background.well done mate well done.simply the very best.
Quality scratchbuilt items, keep up the high standards mate!
no repeated section, well i dont think so. your right about it being that thing that will always bug me.the problem is im not sure if there is enough space to fit the points in tho.

STEVIE B.
Looking great.
cheers.well i want the intercity swallow or the yellow and blue hst if i can get my hands on one.
Excellent update to what is going to be a brilliant layout.
Where did you get your pink foamboard from please ?
Regards
Tony
oh right i think i will try that out.thanks for the info.
do you have a video of your 08's to see how it looks?
Awesome work Terry, love the TMD and also great weathering and amazing attention to detail all over! How did you do the escalators?? Also Terry how did you do the concrete slabs? hi andy
the shed is going to be a wagon repair shed now.just got to add the signs and little details to it.
Nice work! :) Impressed with the scratch building, I'm gonna do a little diorama myself in the near future. Thanks for the comment.yes the fueling point is from knightwing and is a good little kit.
Hi, really enjoy watching your layout progress and think your scratch built station looks amazing, just wondering if you have any tips on scratchbuilding as I need to gain some confidence
As usual, exemplary work.
You have a real talent tmd looks ace
hmmm...yeh. You could always try a peco three-way point with two medium radii points onto the other tracks. that would save alot of space
thanks matthew.well i have lots of plans for the other side of the layout but that will be a while before i start on that as i still have a few jobs to finish off around the station.
thanks dan
the escalators are a kit but cannot remember who makes them.you could always google oo gauge escalators and see what it comes up with.the concrete is made from white plastikard and all i did was scribe out the mortar lines with an olfa scriber and it looks very affective once painted and weathered.
hi mate
thanks for the comment.the size of the platforms are roughly 12ft in lenght. fairly long but it needed to be to hold a 9 car pendo.
Great work Terry, the layouts looking awesome! The little stabling yard looks great, I like what you did with the static grass around the tracks, makes it look over grown. I should have done that on Arena Parkway. Keep up the good work!
How did you weather the vans etc? Was that done with an airbrush or by hand?
thanks.cannot remember where i got the info board to be honest as i have had it a while now.if i remember i will let you know.
great job terry what are u going to do for on the other side of the layout?
sounds good mate.i will check it out.
i will be adding street lights to the bridge and station car park when i get round to buying them.i have just a couple of jobs left to do on the station side to complete before i can start round the other side of the layout.
looking good mate! I want to make some of my own gantries... where did you get the brass components?... I was looking at using plastruct or kit bashing but ide prefer brass! Lee
Amazing! How do you make those epic gantries.
i wanted to make it more 3D but i had no room to do it.i may try and build another in 3D.
the detail is brill overall
I like the tmd, looks very good!
Amazing vid as always mate! Can't wait to see the new TMD when finished! Which version of the HST would you get?
i want to but not sure if i will have the room for them.
Like the bridge love it not keen how it ends thin are same with roads wood not with rail so y with roads
well i will be building a fiddle yard at the back which you wont see as it will be hidden by a scenic board and in front of that i will be building a very large TMD with around three large sheds.one for the diesel engines, one for the DMU's and one for wagons.

yes i think your right.
the signs where downloaded on my pc and printed out on my laser printer.all i did is search for photos or pictures of what ever your looking for using google and just saved the ones i liked and just print.
they are a good kit.its for the USA but you can alter it to suit tho.
awesome terry!
As in build them as my layout is weirded shaped and the hornby platforms are too small so how did you build your platform
yeah i read Richards comments after mine, thought that was a good idea, also his comments about the junction, it may look a bit crammed in, unless you start under the bridge
andy
me too when i get round to finishing it off.but it is my next job on the list so it should not be to long now.
i dont know how i managed to repeat the video.but its too late to change it now tho.
thanks mate, was it old oak common or stratford TMD?
Just wondering how do you do custom platforms
it is a pikestuff plastic kit which i had to build up.i did alter it a fair bit to fit in with the layout as it is an american kit but overall its a good kit.i think its one of the only buildings on the layout i have not scratch built.
Thanks for the good advice
