  • Course Background:
    ‘BAPS Tabla for Beginners’ is a 60-class online course spanning two years being delivered by two experts who have a combined experience of more than 30 years playing tabla.
    If you are interested in learning to play tabla with bhajans at home, in your local social gatherings, or at religious festivals and Indian events, then this is the course for you.
    It is open to males and females of any age anywhere in the world - to join and learn from the comfort of your own home.
    No prior knowledge of tabla or Indian music is required.
    All you need is a pair of tablas, the commitment to practice daily for about 20 to 30 minutes, and a little patience to see yourself progress.
    Course Overview:
    The course covers the main taals to help learners play with bhajans: Kehervo, Hinch, Dadaro, Khemto, Dipchandi and Rupak. These will be taught with intros and outros as well as various helpful patterns.
    Each weekly video lesson of 30-40 minutes is supported by additional resources, such as notes, audio tracks, a daily practice log and end-of-term tests.
    Class 1:
    In this introductory class, students are taught what the various parts of a pair of tablas are called; the correct seating posture and positioning of hands; fingering, strokes and sounds; and a step-by-step guide to some simple bols (sounds).
    After classes 1 and 2, all subsequent classes and notes are accessible to registrants only.
