This was in the repertoire when I was a lay-clerk at Canterbury Cathedral, in an ATBB arrangement. It was so much treasured that we world always choose to sing both the prima and secunda pars rather than getting away from evensong earlier.

This motet it's really mesmerizing. Nicolas Gombert it's regarded among the most influential renaissance composers between Josquin Desprez and Palestrina, with a polyphony remarkable complex. Thank you!.

ce n'est pas le texte original. Je ne comprends pas l'intérêt de cette version.

comment voulez vous montrer autrement toutes les parties séparées en même temps sur l'écran ? Je vous rappelle qu'elle étaient écrites sur des documents séparés

This is the best text for this by far, the music exactly fits the lament of David for his brother. The other text, Tulerunt Dominum, doesn't fit well in either scansion or mood.

@@chambermuses7802 Thanks for the suggestions, I appreciate it, it's always nice to compare recordings. I must confess I love the almost Wagnerian expressiveness of the recording in this video. The Les Canards Chantants recording seems to have some of that as well, and it has a nicely clear sound. I'm not too impressed by the Hilliard Ensemble, who make this singularly beautiful piece sound like all other renaissance music.
There is another recording of 'this' piece which I really love, and it's the Huelgas recording of Je prens congie (a contrafact of Lugebat David Absalon, or vice versa, I don't remember).
