What is the best public golf course in Alabama?
If you are an Alabama resident, it will be tough to beat any of the golf on the Robert Trent Jones Trail. At only around $55 per round, including a cart, with an RTJ Trail Card, this is some of the most affordable high-quality golf in America.
I believe that the Valley course is one of the best golf courses in Alabama, especially during the summer. In the summer, the course stays very lush because of the water draining down the mountain and through the course before making it to the creeks surrounding the course. In the winter, the same thing occurs, but the lack of heat and abundance of rain create a much more soggy course.
Basically, play the Valley in the Summer and Fall and the Ridge year around.
You do have to be an Alabama resident to get a trail card, which essentially cuts the cost of a round in half, but if you are coming in for a golf trip with the guys (or girls) they do have specials that allow you to play all day or purchase multiple rounds at the different courses at a discount.

Played Valley today for the first time since renovations. Wow the greens were fast. As you said, the greens were big but the undulations were tough. Course was in good shape for December and wet. Fairways were over seeded and nice green. Will play again soon

#13 is the worst hole in the world. If the pin is back, your only play is into the valley.

I think there is enough room to play onto the back shelf, but it’s a tough task for most of us. If only I could hit it straight and my distance was at least a little accurate. 😂
