@@Will-ge7ri because how special the south is, every time I see stuff like this it gets me to looking at job openings in other states. West coast doesn’t have the lifestyle like this.
I love how these episodes show the true nature of hunting: - not wanting to get up in the morning but you still do it - improper jokes - getting drunk and stupid - cooking for the whole crew - getting tired by the end. Sadness and relief in the same time - processing what you harvest when you are dead tired
"Sometimes all you get is a beautiful Sunrise" Truer words have never been spoken. When I used to Elk hunt with my Uncle in law Ed, He would say even if you dont see an elk all season, Youve spent quality time with friends and family and thats what counts.
Doing things you did as a kid now as an adult. The power of hospitality, totally sums up your persona Jean Paul. In Southern Australia we have craw (yabby), duck, koot, catfish, no alligator. We ain't so different.
It’s been said multiple times but the cinematography in this series is seriously some of the best I’ve seen. The commentating by chef, the music and little tidbits, the humor, the perfect balance of hunting/cooking/camp life just really made you feel like you were there. Superb job guys
Wow that was a totally authentic depiction of what goes on at a cajun hunting and fishing camp. And Chef Jean Paul knows the history of men cooking at the camp and it's place in cajun heritage. The friendships and memories made in the marsh or on the water or in a deer stand will last a lifetime. As cajuns we are truly blessed with an abundance of wild game, fish, crawfish, crabs, shrimp and many other protein sources that non-cajuns would probably frown upon. I never tasted any wild game or seafood that was skillfully prepared with a roux and the trinity and made into a gumbo, stew, sauce piquante that I didn't enjoy and am always willing to share with those unfamiliar with our unique cajun cuisine. Was goos to see Lloyd hanging with the guys and especially your mom who I am sure taught you so many things in the kitchen that you put to use everyday as a chef. Bravo to everyone and especially the camera and sound guys for creating an epic cajun tale. May there be many more weeks at the duck camp for all you guys and may the sky rain down ducks on all your hunts. I just have one question, how do you maintain those masculine physiques after eating and drinking such great food and beverages. Ya'll must chase rabbits in the cane field . Now a rabbit hunt with beagles would make a pretty damn good show, just saying! C'est Bon fellows you killed it!
What a fantastic series, the cinematography, music, and the people. I love this and the B-side fishing series, highlighting these regional hunting/fishing/outdoor cultures. Would love to see more! Thanks @meateater crew!
Never seen a show that did such a great job showing every aspect of what hunting is like in the real world. Great friends, food, and memories! Plus it’s like these guys were made for the camera, what a crew! Hope to see more like this in the future
Absolutely beautiful ending. Loved the whole series. As a duck hunter I felt every aspect of your series. Now don’t forget about that Hunting camp cookbook. Congrats again JP
Hopefully not the end of this great series. Thanks JP and crew for showing the hunting lifestyle in a positive way. And the dishes you prepared looked amazing (from a fellow chef).
Born and raised Idahoan. This is a foreign world I just watched the last 6 episodes. I think I'll stick to dodging wolves, bears, and cats lol Awesome series for sure!!!
What an absolutely fantastic addition to meat eater!!! Thank you so much for bringing us along. It brings back many great memories for me. Different time, different place, but great all the same.
To echo everyone else - this series was just incredible. That capture of the lifestyle: hunting, food friendships and hospitality... An essence unrivalled. Thank you all so much. Best wishes from the UK
Please tell me Duck Camp Dinners is signed on for several more seasons. With all due respect to the original Meat Eater, that was a best series I've seen on TH-cam. Good ole Cajun living.
I loved this series. Everything about this reminds me of our family's duck camp in Northern Wisconsin. Well, everything except the gators and saltwater.
Hands down a badass awesome series please be a season two cause watching reminds me of old good times at deer camp and hanging with good friends while just enjoying nature and all the little things.
i love that series. I’ve always been fascinated with Louisiana. And the wildlife there. It showcased brotherhood and some Louisiana history. I was fascinated from the first episode to the last. excellent.
great show great mates that is what life is about, my name is andy i am from australia i hunt i fish i cook. Good food brings family and friends together and that is gold
What a superb series. Great job Jean-Paul. As a British man I'll never understand pairing American cheese with good ingredients, but I love everything else you turn your hand too. Duck Camp Dinners Series 2... I'll be waiting.
God damn hit hard, when he talked about when going hunting as a kid.. The small pond my dad used to bring me with him to on our land, not many ducks were there, but we got a few, and most of all it was time not working hard on the farm. The state took that land, and they are about to build a freeway right on top of that small pond, my dad used to take me to, so many years ago. Breaks my heart.
This was an amazing series, beautifully captured and displayed by Jean and his camera crew. They truly captured the true south Louisiana lifestyle that I grew up with that most movies just can’t honestly capture. This was a blessing to watch and truly laughed hard at the Captains moment cooking that roux. Good shit right there. But let’s not also forget what this series taught us: “Money can’t buy you skill, but it sure can buy you a damn good time” hahaha just poking fun at all the missed shots and expensive ass boats, guns, yetis, etc etc. lol
What a great series !!! I hope you continue this in some way I cant get enough. Even got that sad feeling I get when its time to leave deer camp every year while I was watching the boats pull away.
Great series, waiting for season 2. Best memories for me is from duck camps, cooking, cutting up with close friends. Thank y’all, waiting on the deuce.
Even if you ain't a waterfowl hunter I highly recommend that everyone spend at least one morning in their life on the marsh/swamp. Make sure you see the sunrise and just soak in all the life that teems in the marsh. Birds of all varieties.
Holy shit this was good! Loved watching the camp aspect of the outdoors and also how he brought it all home in the end with his family. Amazing as always meateater, keep her coming!
BRAVO !!!! most people don`t understand why fish/duck/ deer camp mean so much to hunters and fisherman, your film does a good job showing how special it can be. Thanks
I’ve gotta say this was quite a delight to watch and learn from. I’ve never been duck hunting in my life (even though I’ve always wanted to) and just to see you and your folks cutting loose and eatin such great food reminds me of growing up on the North Carolina beaches and canals with my Papa and cousins, catchin anything that moved and taking home our bounty for a good get together. Thanks for bringin backs some memories from one southerner to another.
What a great series showing the great outdoors! Hunting, Fishing, Cooking and Camp Life a true representation of life in the South. Great job to all involved on this project, please keep them coming!

what a great memory with your uncle!
For 33 years of hunting experience my best part of the day is the time I spent with my friends cooking dinner

Thats what its all about brother.
Made me smile and homesick for a place I have never been and a people I have never encountered!
“Sometimes all you get is the sunrise” and “The power of hospitality” What wisdom. Thanks men…….bravo!
Duck Camp Dinner better come back for a Season 2!!!

Dear lord you ended that absolutely perfectly. Those kids better be talkin about dads SHOW'S plural because we need more of this God damn/bless it.
By far one of the best meat eater productions. Family. Friends. Food. Nature. Simple life. God is good and this series captures that. Great work.
Thanks so much and glad you liked it. Season 2 out now! Thanks for watching!

Everything about this series is amazing!
I don't hunt, I've never hunted but I imagine the way I feel about this series ending is how these boys feel on last day of camp lol

Best series on TH-cam ever. Please come back soon with another season. Definitely more of Jay. Dude made me laugh every scene he was in.

was it weird to be genuinely sad when they pulled out of camp? God I loved this series

@MeatEater please bring this back this year. This is my favorite series, I loved every single second.
Season 2 out now! Thanks for watching!
You guys should do this series every duck season
Let's get some upland on! Offer stands, if any of the meateater crew feels like hunting Alberta there is a spot open.
Everything about this mini series was flawless! Only complaint, it was entirely too short! This is better than an Outdoor TV production!
Love it! Next season will be longer so stay tuned!
