This is the first song I really listen to Hua Chen Yu and got me start the journey of searching everything I can about him; as I know how the original song like from early 2000; I get totally shock and surprise what Hua Chen Yu did in 24 hours. He is amazing!

Hua Chen Yu background : his parents got divorced when he was very very small. He was often left alone home , because his dad needs to work. He said he got so scared and imagine monsters coming out to eat him. He started learning piano very young. But he didn’t have friends and bullied from school. They find him very weird and he don’t talk to people . He was very depressed and all he did was put the music into his soul to release the pain and suffering from his past! Concentrate on music and work hard is his sign!

I think it's important to understand at the end when he said " i still want to call you dad" is not just a simple translation of the lyrics but there was a wish and desire from him that Dad can stop all this violence then he can have a normal family life and can have somebody he can call Dad. This kind of domestic violence and suffering may be shocking to many people from the west. Although it does happen but there is always help. You can call police to stop it. But in China and many other countries, there is no law to protect people suffering from the domestic violence. Due to the culture many women will stay in an abusive relationship for a life time because devoice is worse. Then you will understand the desperation and hopeless of this boy in the song and his longing that his dad will change for the better.

Most domestic violence are silent killer and sufferers tend to keep it to themselves so domestic violence awareness by outsider is at least a step forward to reducing these unnecessary crimes.

You are a class act. I suggest you review Diana Ankudinova, a 14-year-old Russian girl with a voice from out of this world. She has two incredible songs. My favorite is Rechenka, or The River, sung in Russian. The other is a cover in French of "Dernièr Danse" by Indila. Both are incredible. Have you checked out KZ Tandigan? She was also on Singer 2018. I love her reinterpretation of "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, as well as "Royals" by Lorde. Don't listen to the "107 Bus" versions of these songs. They're no where near as good.
