Thank you for your reaction. This song is a 1950s ballad, this is his version. This show is a competition, HuaHua needed to rearrange the song first, then they need practice and lastly performance all within 24 hours. I can't believe they were so good with so little time. Su is classically trained, I love her voice too. This is the song that turned me into a fan of his. I am impressed with his rearrangement abilities turning a classical ballad into this version and a duet with less than 24 hours wow. bty just subscribed. :)

This fun and interesting TV concert is called "next" or "Voice of Nature" in China. It invited ordinary unnamed people to compete with five professional singers (Hua Hua is one of the singers and also a mentor). The singer's song is selected by the opponent (ordinary person). Hua chenyu received this song. Huahua only has 24 hours ready to re-adapt songs and start performing. Each finalist (ordinary person) and the singer formed a team to continue fighting... So the singer became a mentor.....

This song was originally pure folk style decades ago. And they had to recreate the song within 24 hours after the audience picked one for them in that TV show.

Hey, thanks for reacting to this! Just like a lot of other people, I'd recommend reacting to "Dad, I'm home" with eng subs (by the baby bamboo), then I also really love "Drinking alone" and "Heaven", especially knowing how different the original songs are to his arrangements. He made Heaven sound like a movie soundtrack and it showcased some of his best vocal dynamics and control!

I really don't recommend Baby Bamboo's Drinking Alone, though their 'Dad, I'm Home' is good enough. 's Eng lyrics was sooo far from the actual lyrics it's not even funny anymore. They completely destroyed the story Hua Chenyu was singing.
Well, they can try the translation done by Hua Chenyu Subs "Lonely Hero" (if I remember the title correctly).
cjy11 Yeah Hua Chenyu Eng Subs is a good channel. They might not have perfect grammar but the translations are much closer in meaning to the original lyrics
I don't actually understand Mandarin, so thanks for telling me this! I watched Drinking Alone on the other channel, so I don't even know what Baby Bamboo's looks like. I wouldn't necessarily recommend watching it with English subs though, for the first time, the rap is way too fast and trying to read the subs would probably take away from their experience. Just my opinion as someone who needs subs to understand.

This song is called Nanping Night Clock. It should be an old song for more than 30 years. The original version of the song is also very good. It is a classic song.

"Nanping Evening Bells" is an old chinese song. Hua rearranged this song to help Su Shiding win the show.
I want to recommend another song "Perhaps Love" that they cooperate again on the same show. This song Hua combined two songs and performed in a musical style. They also danced in this performance.
And another recommend song "Idiot" was sung by Hua Chenyu & Ma Lu.
Hua rearranged this song with Baroque polyphony. Very very unique and rare!!!

Love this performance! Hua actually has tons of music out there you haven't reacted to yet. Here's 10 of his best: Ashes From Fireworks, My Skate Board Shoes, Child, Wayfarer (AKA Mountain & Sea), Heaven (From The Next S2), Here We Are, Child, Flamable & Explosive, Wu Kong (AKA Great Sage Equal to Heaven) and last but not least Dad I'm Home (AKA The Saddest Song). I missed both of you with Hua Chen Yu reactions. I would just like to share that he had his concert last weekend in China biggest stadium which can hold 90,000 people each day! The concert is dope, he released 4 new different song and is all stunning! Check out his "Arrival", "Bullfighting" and "Mayfly". Absolutely amazing.

The girl Su Shiding was actually a contestant in Singer 2018. You can search it for her performances but this was totally both of their best.
Nanping Evening Clock Created in 1951, the song expresses the girl’s love, and was sung by Hong Kong singer Cui Ping in 1958.
Wow, I'm so surprised that you guys totally get the meaning of the song without any lyrics. The song is talking about a person is dreaming in the lovesickness with the sound from the Nanping Evening Bell. Eventually she is woken up from the love dream. Hua Chenyu successfully implement his music opinion on most of his works. Actually he is very famous for his no-lyrics song from the first time he appears in the public. Sometimes, he just write the song to express the emotion without lyrics. Probably you can check some his original songs, which are all very special and high quality.

hey guys, love your videos. i want to explain the song and its background for you hope can help you understand better. Nanping Bell is actually exist in Hangzhou China you can check it out i think. It is a long-history temple and famous because there are many old chinese poem praising the Bell. The first version of the song "Nanping evening bell" was released on 1960s and become popular all over the country. Almost every Chinese people can sing it from young. Hua's version is great and even more better for his generation. He created something new and also show the respect for the original like always, i thinks that's why people love him. thank you for making the vedio.
