I believe that SAM and CAS have the healthiest relationship of all, they are not co-dependent, they respect their decisions, they always support, care and love each other, they are family and I love them. I will always resent that they did not let them say goodbye.
While I don’t ship them all of these reasons show that over the years Sam and Cas have formed a bond of their own. People tend to only see the Cas/Dean and the Sam/Dean relationships but these two are also SO important to each other. They’re best friends. Lovely video!

Okay, so here’s a thing about this show that no one really seems to realise (aka, there are a lot of destiel fans who can’t see anything that’s not destiel...) For Cas, Dean was orders. He was ordered to save him from Hell, he was ordered to do whatever Dean decided with Samhain, he was ordered to protect him. With Sam, it’s the opposite. He was probably told many times not to trust Sam because he’s an abomination and just The Boy With The Demon Blood or whatever, but he was immediately okay with shaking his hand even though he was seen as unclean or whatever, he immediately took his word for the fact that alistair wasn’t lying about it not being demons killing angels and because of that figured out uriel was a bad guy and he saved Sam from Hell because he wanted to and because he knew he didn’t deserve to be there. Dean was orders, but Sam was choice. Of course, dean became more than just a mission to him, but Sam is the one who he could’ve immediately rejected as even human, much like the other Angels. Dean was the Righteous Man, thought to be good and pure and everything that Sam wasn’t. Sam was the Boy King, the abomination, but he proved them wrong. He proved that destiny means shit. Just my thoughts on things... 🙃🥰

Now mind you, my definition of Dean losing his shit is skewed by the way Dean behaves when Sam is gone or in danger, including selling his soul, almost killing himself to bargain with death/reapers, letting the world go to hell to save Sam, killing anyone who comes in his way, etc. Though tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if Dean did display a little more grief over Cas than the grief he displays over losing any other friend. I'm only on season 9, but I've been feeling very sad and angry about the way Dean treats Cas... Almost since the begining of their interaction. I really don't like it. So I was pretty upset rn but this just gave me a different view of things. With Dean, everything Castiel does is apologies and feel bad about his mistakes. But Sam can relate with that. He really can understand Cas on so many levels. They both could do each other so much good 💛💛😌

I know destiel shares a more profound bond but sastiel has something that destiel doesn't, which is the ability to truly understand how the other thinks and empathize with the other person as castiel literally switched their mind in order to save him from insanity. Emphatizing with someone is not an easy thing, for example it is one thing to sympathize and say you know that a friend who lost a family is very sad, but you wouldn't truly know the anguish your friend feels until you lost a family member too and been through the same circumstances. Additionally, they now share each other thought processes and can understand why the other person would make decisions that others/dean may think is illogical or even not acceptable.
This makes wayyy more sense than Destiel, even though I'm a (non canon) Destiel shipper. Like, when Cas brought back Dean, it was more about orders rather than anything else, he considered that as a favor and didn't take any shit from Dean but, when he brought back Sam, he was voluntarily risking his life and was heartbroken when Sam accused him of abandoning his soul on purpose.
@@ankitg7994 a lot of shippers take the "I rebelled for you" way too literally. He didn't rebel just because he cared about Dean but because he believed Dean was right and heaven was wrong. He rebels when Dean says, "if there's anything worth dying for, this is it." The 'it' in this scenario is stopping the apocalypse instead of letting in play out like heaven intended. Castiel rebelled for Dean, Sam, and all of humanity. Cas was obsessed with the civil war in heaven and stopping Raphael in s6. To the point that he lied to the Winchesters, avoided them, and dismissed them. If you mean in the final episodes, then yeah he was trying to get Dean's forgiveness because what he did had put Lisa and Ben at direct risk. And he certainly wasn't obsessed enough about it to stop his plan. If you mean bringing Sam back, he didn't do it for Dean. If he had, he would have told Dean that Sam was back. He only did it to save Sam and when Sam decided to not approach Dean he didn't intervene, because it wasn't about Dean. The Man Who Would Be King explains all of Castiel's motivations and it goes far beyond Sam or Dean, and raises some interesting philosophical questions. We got one of the best lines of the show from that - "Freedom is a length of rope and God wants you to hang yourself with it." Castiel was all about what it means to have free will, trying to do the right thing, what it means to be human. To reduce all that to "for Dean," like they kinda did in 15.18 is a disservice to his character imo.
Sam's face at watching Lucifer kill Castiel is heartbreaking. Lucifer took everything from Sam in so many ways over and over, and just when they thought they'd won, he has to watch Lucifer kill his best friend. Him not taking all that out on Jack took incredible strength
Why do I feel like boarding this ship? Hell yeah, if I were Cas I would choose Sam over Dean every time. They are so compatible. They stand equal, together, there's trust, honesty, faith and effort in this relationship. Whereas, Destiel is toxic. Cas gives and Dean takes. He doesn't trust Cas much, doesn't care about him much. But Sam is different. Apart from that one mistake when he trusted Ruby, Sam has mostly been the more sensible, sensitive, and empathetic Winchester. Dean has given more crap to Cas, than about Cas. Both ship sails, but Sastiel is more trustworthy.

I may have started with Destiel but I'm ending with Sastiel hands down. They are the only OTP I care for. The growth they have gone through both individually and together as friends just stops my heart when I think of it.
When I started to watch the show, I already knew that Destiel ship is popular. But I just couldn't ignore interactions between Sam and Cas. I can't choose one obvious couple, so for me between them three is just... something 😌 Sam and Cas with their health relationships, Dean and Cas with complicated one, and drama kings Winchester also complement this squad.. And i think Sastiel deserves more attention)

I am not a really shipper. Yeah from time to time, I read some FF ˋs but I never got really into it. That’s the reason, I probably cannot see anything sexual in Sam and Castiels relationship, but I do see lots of good love, trust and faith. You could probably write a whole book, about why they are so connected, even in a not shipping way. Whatsoever the clip was really lovely. Lots of the stuff I never really recognized, back then.

Honestly I am team Destiel but at the same time I think Sastiel is better. Probably because from the perspective of pure fantasy, a particular relationship like Destiel's is more intriguing, particular, poignant, but from the perspective of real life, Sastiel is definitely better. It would be a MUCH healthier relationship. BUT the mere fact that Dean left Cas sleeping on the street and hungry (among other things, having no idea how to behave because he knows nothing about being a human) is already a no-no for the Destiels for me, but I love them for their few tender moments and their chemistry.
another reason I ship sastiel, other than it being super cute and healthy, is because i have always related to Sam’s character and I have a massive crush on Castile (and Aziraphale from good omens, I have a thing for angel characters) so shipping them together is just me being gay

I know destiel shares a more profound bond but sastiel has something that destiel doesn't, which is the ability to truly understand how the other thinks and empathize with the other person as castiel literally switched their mind in order to save him from insanity.
Emphatizing with someone is not an easy thing, for example it is one thing to sympathize and say you know that a friend who lost a family is very sad, but you wouldn't truly know the anguish your friend feels until you lost a family member too and been through the same circumstances. Additionally, they now share each other thought processes and can understand why the other person would make decisions that others/dean may think is illogical or even not acceptable.
This makes wayyy more sense than Destiel, even though I'm a (non canon) Destiel shipper. Like, when Cas brought back Dean, it was more about orders rather than anything else, he considered that as a favor and didn't take any shit from Dean but, when he brought back Sam, he was voluntarily risking his life and was heartbroken when Sam accused him of abandoning his soul on purpose.
Cas literally rebelled against heaven for Dean. Cas literally was obsessed with gaining DEAN's forgiveness in s6. but ok
@@ankitg7994 a lot of shippers take the "I rebelled for you" way too literally. He didn't rebel just because he cared about Dean but because he believed Dean was right and heaven was wrong. He rebels when Dean says, "if there's anything worth dying for, this is it." The 'it' in this scenario is stopping the apocalypse instead of letting in play out like heaven intended. Castiel rebelled for Dean, Sam, and all of humanity.
Cas was obsessed with the civil war in heaven and stopping Raphael in s6. To the point that he lied to the Winchesters, avoided them, and dismissed them. If you mean in the final episodes, then yeah he was trying to get Dean's forgiveness because what he did had put Lisa and Ben at direct risk. And he certainly wasn't obsessed enough about it to stop his plan. If you mean bringing Sam back, he didn't do it for Dean. If he had, he would have told Dean that Sam was back. He only did it to save Sam and when Sam decided to not approach Dean he didn't intervene, because it wasn't about Dean.
The Man Who Would Be King explains all of Castiel's motivations and it goes far beyond Sam or Dean, and raises some interesting philosophical questions. We got one of the best lines of the show from that - "Freedom is a length of rope and God wants you to hang yourself with it." Castiel was all about what it means to have free will, trying to do the right thing, what it means to be human. To reduce all that to "for Dean," like they kinda did in 15.18 is a disservice to his character imo.

Sam's face at watching Lucifer kill Castiel is heartbreaking. Lucifer took everything from Sam in so many ways over and over, and just when they thought they'd won, he has to watch Lucifer kill his best friend. Him not taking all that out on Jack took incredible strength

Why do I feel like boarding this ship? Hell yeah, if I were Cas I would choose Sam over Dean every time. They are so compatible. They stand equal, together, there's trust, honesty, faith and effort in this relationship. Whereas, Destiel is toxic. Cas gives and Dean takes. He doesn't trust Cas much, doesn't care about him much. But Sam is different. Apart from that one mistake when he trusted Ruby, Sam has mostly been the more sensible, sensitive, and empathetic Winchester. Dean has given more crap to Cas, than about Cas. Both ship sails, but Sastiel is more trustworthy.
Even if you don't ship Sastiel you can file this under "Why Sam and Cas are amazing people and deserve love and affection and dogs"

Honestly I am team Destiel but at the same time I think Sastiel is better. Probably because from the perspective of pure fantasy, a particular relationship like Destiel's is more intriguing, particular, poignant, but from the perspective of real life, Sastiel is definitely better. It would be a MUCH healthier relationship. BUT the mere fact that Dean left Cas sleeping on the street and hungry (among other things, having no idea how to behave because he knows nothing about being a human) is already a no-no for the Destiels for me, but I love them for their few tender moments and their chemistry.

I love destiel and trust me that's something i want happen in the show so bad but sastiel that's healthy. Sam seriously respects cass too. Most of the times dean treats Cass not in a good way if i had to put it mildly but Sam has treated Cass better than anyone every single time.
Sam : accused Cas of deliberately leaving his soul in hell, stabbed Cas in the back with an angel blade (thinking it would kill him), abandoned not only Dean but ALSO CAS in purgatory, called Cas an "it" and wanted to let Lucifer keep possessing him, etc.
Dean : looks for Cas for a YEAR in purgatory, accepts Jack for Cas, is rude sometimes but is also the one who always has the most reaction when Cas dies

I understand how both Sam & Cas have let him down multiple times. Sam & Cas do feel guilty and relate better to each other bc of it. Whenever Dean is in trouble, they have to team up. Whereas Dean tries to handle situations on his own. If this was meant to be sarcastic, I love Dean more than any character but I also understand his flaws just like other characters.

Since season 1 we have seen Dean has severe abandonment issues. Sam also saw it. But he still didn't look for Dean when Dean was sent to purgatory. Yes I know Sam thought Dean was dead etc. But that was just his assumption. He did not even try to verify whether that assumption was right or not. & yes before you mention it, I know Dean has also been shitty to Sam at times. I don't deny that. My point is that Dean isn't the only one who has had bad moments. Sam & Castiel also have had equivalent.
