  • 🌹 The DARK SECRET Behind Vito Corleone's Wealth | How Vito Corleone Built a BILLION Dollar Empire? | The Rise of Vito Corleone Michael Corleone himself, the dons very own son, was absolutely SHOCKED to find out the family’s true wealth 💰
Don Vito Corleone was known to “Make Offers they Couldn't Refuse”...
But Have you ever wondered how rich the Godfather really was?
It might seem a simple question, but what we found out might change the way you view The Godfather forever...
By 1945, Vito had a vast real estate portfolio in New York’s Midtown, as well as massive real estate holdings, a construction company, entire office buildings, two Wall Street brokerage houses, a law firm, Hollywood unions, as well investments and ownership stakes in banks in Long Island. A Lot of these were set up through various fronts.
But his influence stretched across the country, buying out Hollywood movie studios, movie theatre chains, and music companies. Let alone a hotel and resort in Florida, in addition to investing in some Las Vegas Casinos. At his height, perhaps the golden era of the mob, Don Corleone generated around $650 million across his various businesses during prohibition. Now this, you won't believe.
If we convert that figure into today's money, it would be worth a staggering, $15 billion in total revenue. Then let's say after all the expenses the don only keeps 30% profit, that comes down to $4.5 billion, it’s still an unbelievable amount. If we put a average 3x multiple, and lets just take the earnings we mentioned earlier, The Corleone empire would be worth around $14 Billion today. But let's say after prohibition, the empire was only generating $7 billion, with $2.1 billion in profit, would make it worth around $6.3 billion today, still an incredible amount. For context here is a list of today's companies that are worth a similar amount. But now, let's go a bit deeper and see how much the don himself is worth. Where would he rank on the Forbes list?
The DARK TRUTH Behind Vito Corleone's Wealth....

As you know, Vito had a VERY rough life and so began working from quite early on.
Having gone through so much at a young age, Vito had anything but a normal childhood.
His first job was with the Abandando family, the family that had taken him in after he escaped from Sicily. And I'm sure you remember how he ended up meeting Peter Clemenza, where he soon made a total shift from honest store clerk to low level criminal.
Well, at that point, they began to specialize in hijacking different trucks that carried all kinds of goods. But everything changed once Vito “dealt” with Don Fanucci. After Vito deposed the former neighbourhood don, “the black hand”, he had built quite a reputation for himself. Vito earned the respect of the neighborhood, becoming known as a "Man of Respect" and was soon asked to intercede in local disputes, gaining a reputation for never turning down someone who came to him for help, and for being able to "reason" with "unreasonable" people. Although he had declined to do so at first out of modesty, Vito eventually started accepting "gifts" from local businesses and racket bosses in return for "ensuring that our patrons know that they are safe", It started with just a few hundred dollars a week, but soon Vito was making an enormous amount of money, just from accepting these so-called “gifts”.
Vito, Clemenza and Tessio eventually took over the neighborhood, treating it with a great deal more respect than Fanucci did, and in turn they were taken care of in case they needed anything.

TheCultureMafia puts together some interesting and entertaining videos, largely through it's narration. One aspect which distracts is interspersing visuals from other films. Stick to the Godfather trio at all costs. If, for example, the theme of a video is Vito Corleone, there is no place for images from The Untouchables

They need to make a TV show on the rise of vito corleone during the prohibition era. There's so many stories can be created in his rise. And also can dive deeper in how vito was when he was younger and thought process during any hardships.

I think a key difference between a 'legitimate' business billionaire and a crime lord is the legit business person has the means to block unfavorable laws and help create favorable laws. The crime lord can only break the law. That's why regular business people can appear to be less criminal than they are. For example, Vito could get a political ally to sign off on paperwork so certain people could stay in the US but Vito could never get politicians to change the laws regulating immigration. The next time you read about massive tax breaks for the corporate world, keep that in mind. You can't be accused of skimming off the top if you can get the laws changed so you are GIVEN that money, by law, off the top.

One thing I think Mario Puzo/ FF Coppola didn't think of when putting Michael in the Godfather's position~ he was also a highly decorated war hero.
Why didn't he have a group of Marine-buddies he had spilt blood with during the war- people he trusted during the war?
    Brothers in arms.
They could have been a secret weapon unknown of by anyone within his or the other _Families._
After all, who would begrudge a war hero from funding a veteran's club of sorts?
    He could have funded several.

Josh Flynn is right. There should be a Vito Corleone Television Series. Or at least a Mini- Series. The encounter with Al Capones men in the novel, during the Castellamarase War would be a fantastic segment. In the words of Mario Puzo "Vito dispatched Luca Brasi with instructions that liberated the strange man's most savage instincts." Brasi then executed the Capone men in a manner that would make an axe murderer look like a Campfire Girl. Vito meeting Hyman Roth is an Underworld Can of Worms that should be opened as well. All the different scenarios of their Prohibition partnership would make a Series in itself . Or how about the many adventures of Tessio and Clemenza before the Godfather Trilogy? You get the idea. No character, Fact or Fiction is more fascinating than Mario Puzos Don Vito Corleone. This is a cinematic Supernova screaming to be reinvented and remade.

Aww man...this Culture Mafia guy is too good! Bravo!...I can't say much more(but I did), but the critical financial breakdown and along with that intangible of being able to gain power and influence in such a way that the don was able to do was brilliant. His wealth was great, and I remember in the book when Michael was shown all the family had and controlled, he himself was amazed. The don's knowledge of business and real estate was far above, even the mall property he had and built his family home on was critical, massively increasing in value and subdivided later to bring great profits after he was gone. The don had all the goods and knew how to use them to influence and gain power. The don was a brilliant man, no accident his family in the book was the most powerful. Too much can be said here but..Culture Mafia, you are the foremost content creator on this by far. I knew this was going to be good, but it's even better than anticipated.

Without their combined assets, they never could have sent Vito Corleone to his sick bed. WHAT A STATEMENT IT IS TO SAY THAT MONEY AND POWER ARE NOT THE SAME THING!! Clearly, Vito Corleone had more real world influence than any Billionaire, Past or Present. Like you so beautifully stated, the perfect balance between being loved and feared. Even a John Rockefeller couldn't reach into all the realms that control the real world. Vito Corleone could. From Judges to Politicians, he could not only control who was in power. He could control who got the power!! Mario Puzo states very clearly in the Novel that Don Vitos influence extended across every aspect of the Illegitimate and the Legitimate world. From Elections to the Judges who pass Sentences on the Guilty. As Michael said to Tom Hagen before the Five Family Executions, "My father was the only one who understood that Political Connections and Power are worth Ten Regimes." Small Wonder that the Cover of The Godfather Novel shows Puppet Strings interlaced into the Title. Don Vito Corleone was the Puppet Master Supreme. And the true "Boss of all Bosses." In the World of Organized Crime and The Legitimate One as well.

Interesting and informative. Class A research project. Veto started as a street thug. Quickly climbing the organized crime syndicates ladder. Thanks to prohibition made wise business decisions. Went on to 'God father ' status controlling a crime syndicates family. Very few ever climb to the above mentioned status.

Vito knew that to be successful, he didn't need to be loved, but he couldn't be hated. So, he concentrated in areas where even though his activities might be illegal, the average John or Mary wouldn't think of them as immoral. Most people wouldn't have a problem with selling a bottle of booze now and then; they wouldn't mind dropping a few bucks at a racetrack or card game. Gambling and bootlegging weren't much of a problem this way. But Vito assiduously avoided the two areas that would alienate him from the average populace: he stayed away from narcotics and prostitution, things that people wouldn't want to have in their living rooms or in their neighborhoods.

I don't think he would have had anything like 30% net from his Prohibition income, more like 60-70%. You would have
relatively few employees to pay, and they would have had pretty low pay, plus police and judges, again, not that much. The
problem is always where you stash it

    • @janconner2087
      @janconner2087 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Definitely, not 60-70%. The warehouse guys, truckers, bookkeepers, security in any large scale operation had to be paid. And you forgot the politicians and prosecutors along with the judges and police. Payroll was one of the largest portions of overhead coming out of a bootlegging operation

Even though Vito Corleone is a fictional character, in my opinion, Don Carlo Gambino would be proud of him for not engaging in the drug trade.

Sure the Godfather aquired wealth but destroyed so many lives of decent, hardworking people which impacted their families. On top of that enforcing your position with murdering people just is not something to be admired or glorified. I liked the movies for what they showed us but even the actress Talia Shire ( who is actually a Copolla as his her relative Nicholas "Cage").... She said these people were Despicable.

But it always bothered me that they got this power by preying on the innocent and the honest.
Its like society hates bullies with one side of their mouth, and then adores them with the other side of their mouth.
