I feel lucky that I am a 70’s teenager! I had the honor of seeing Zeppelin twice in a week in NYC! I was 16. Robert Plant was my teenaged hormonal crush/fantasy! I had a huge poster in my room from the film. I always got yelled at “turn that crap down” now that I am older, my philosophy is “if it’s too loud then you’re too old”😅

This song actually was one of very few singles released, & was played on the radio. As you’ve been told before, all their songs are amazing, I personally prefer the lives. They usually add more to the live performances, longer solos, & Robert adds some extra lyrics. They loved preforming live, & they loved their fans. The song The Ocean, is about their fans, looking out at all the people is like looking at the ocean. The fans applauding & cheering, is the roar of the ocean. Keep reacting to Led Zeppelin, the more you do, the more you’ll love them.

One of my earliest memories is listening to this song and asking my mom, "is he alright?" I believe her reply was "he's fine. Don't worry about it"
Not sure what that says about parenting in the '80's. But by the time I was old enough to understand the meaning of the sounds he was making, I was old enough to understand the meaning of the song as a whole.

This is their biggest and most popular song. Zeppelin never did singles but, did release two in the states early on. One was Immigrant Song and the. other was this.
I remember in 6th grade listening to the radio before school one morning and this song came on. I know my mom heard it but, did not say anything.
My parents never got crazy about songs we heard even when we were in grade school.
My parents were really cool when it came to music. We just did not have censorship in my house.
But, then my brother and mom and myself - when we were jr. high or so - would discuss topics of the day. Talk about Watergate, etc. We were raised to think.

After Led Zeppelin disbanded in 1980 after the premature death of their drummer, John Bonham. And after the release of LZ's "Coda" album in 1982. Robert Plant formed an adhoc group called, "The Honey Drippers" which in 1984 recorded an EP (Extended Play) record of old blues rock tunes. Their hit song, "Sea of Love" re-popularized Plant. Though it was not a rock song, but more of a "crooner" love song, and Jimmy Page played the lead guitar solo on it. Plant also sang another tune called "Young Boy Blues".

Great reaction! And I haven't seen this particular video before. I note that it is using the studio version rather than a live version. There is also a shorter radio edited version which cuts out Plant's orgasmic moaning. Fun fact: in 1977 Led Zeppelin entered the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest concert attendance for a single Act at the sold out Silverdome stadium in Michigan at a record attendance of 76,229.
BTW I recall seeing a YT video of an 8yo girl who was trying very hard to understand the lyrics to Whole Lotta Love. Thankfully it went way over her young head! I think it was from the "Kids React to Led Zeppelin" channel.
Growing up in the 1970's my older brother had all the LZ albums. So it was a great musical experience for me. I think he also had all the Pink Floyd and Deep Purple records too. IMHO Led Zeppelin's "Rock and Roll" song is the most perfect rock song ever recorded. Whereas "Stairway..." would be the most perfect rock ballad ever recorded. But "Whole Lotta Love" has the killer riffs for a great rock song! Still I prefer "Black Dog" and "Immigrant Song" over Whole Lotta Love. Their other tunes worth checking out are, "D'yer Mak'er", and "Going to California" and "The Battle of Evermore".
And of course Heart's 2012 cover of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center Honors is a must watch. Heart's lead singer, Ann Wilson is long considered to be the female version of Robert Plant. And just recently at age 73, she sang their signature rock song, "Barracuda" at "The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon", and also plan on Touring this year.

Yes, this group was the one who started it all. They were the ones who introduced hard rock to a generation screaming for something more. Their hard-hitting precessions and outlandish solo guitar were a thing of wonder to behold and hear. And that lead singer has never been duplicated nor beat in his performances and just crushed everything this group did. I am so glad I was a part of the generation this group sang to. I have never seen anything like it before or after.

The most primal guitar riff in all Rockdom. This is what happens when musicians from Celtic ancestry, with all its musicality, meet African American blues rhythms, lyrics and electric guitars. This confluence of musical influences happened for the first time in the 60s.

My cousin had a huge collection of cassette tapes he would play on his boom box in the the early 1980s. These included groups like Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, Judas Priest, The Scorpions, Van Halen, Motley Crue, and Iron Maiden. My cousins had recently moved into a beautiful new home. One of our aunts paid a visit and took a tour of the house. When she saw my cousins' posters and musical collection she warned my cousin's parents that it was satanic. As a result, my uncle burned my cousin's tape collection and my cousin Mike ran away for a day. Mike never forgave my Bible thumping aunt. I was into the Beatles, Eagles, and ELO at the time so I didn't worry about my albums being burned.

Steph, you are "fanning" out!! It's a beautiful thing, dear. You go. Hey, you should check out their song called "The Lemon Song"! I don't believe they have a live/performance video for it, but it is available as a lyric video or a version that comes from the album (Led Zeppelin II). Great song and Robert...cooks with fire on that song. Trust me, check it out!

Always listen to the studio version first. You'll get lots of "watch the live concert" comments but ignore that. Get the studio first then you'll know what it was meant to sound like.

Robert Plant's hair was still very curly even when it wasn't very long when he first joined Zeppelin in 1968. It's completely natural. Most of those who copied him in the 1980s had to have perms.
