  • Agustina Mosca nace en Buenos Aires en 1974.
    Dedicada al arte plástico, como escultora fundamentalmente, durante muchos años, la música entra en su vida en Barcelona en 2001 con un instrumento proveniente de los aborígenes de Australia, el didgeridoo. Dada la novedad del instrumento en occidente y la falta de escuela académica, eso le permite a ella desarrollar rápidamente un estilo propio que la representa. Apasionada por el arte de calle, es en esa escena sobre todo donde se produce constantemente y donde ha realizado los encuentros musicales que le han permitido explotar y profundizar su expresión y conocimiento musical y la del instrumento, posicionándola entre los mejores instrumentistas de didgeridoo contemporáneas.
    Con un ritmo profundo y una técnica bien pulida, ella crea espacios sonoros novedosos que llevan al oyente a recorrer y recrear todos aquellos lugares donde la vibración se ha inspirado. Su sonido es abanico de sentidos de unidad bien particular y diversa que completa con accesorios de percusión tocados por ella misma (caxixi, shaker, clapsticks).
    Su búsqueda esta centrada en el desarrollo de la "musicalidad" del didgeridoo y no solo su utilización técnica, lo que la llevo a fusionar su música con flamenco, jazz brasilero, música tradicional colombiana, electrónica, experimental y música clásica.
    Entre sus grabaciones se encuentran:
    PULSO, (2004, Barcelona) (agustinamosca.b...)
    INÙ MAKÙ, (2007, Paris) (fusion con música tradicional colombiana)
    OXIDO ESTELAR, (2008, Paris) (dúo didgeridoo-bajo eléctrico)
    OTRO RUIDO DE TIERRA, (2009, Buenos Aires) (solo didgeridoo) (agustinamosca.b...)
    WALKMAN (OXIDO ESTELAR, 2012)
    (oxidoestelar.ba...)
    Y su mas reciente trabajo, terminado en Junio de 2013 en Paris, AGUALMARINA, donde profundiza su estilo y explora aun mas los aspectos musicales del instrumento. Acompañada por Vincent Linden en trompeta, Lorenzo Nessi en hang, Alicia Canguero Izaguirre en voz, Cassio Nobre y Ricardo Hartmann en pandeiros y Guimbal en guitarra slide.

    in my culture (aboriginal) there is a curse upon women if they play the didgeridoo, this tale of the curse dates back so far as to the dreamtime. I have respect for women and think that if they want to play the instrument go for it! its really fun to play and you can easily get lost in the moment.

    I totally respect the indigenous culture of Australia, but not allowing females to play an instrument is offensive to all mankind, especially when you can see that they bring so much to the party. I still haven't heard a valid reason to why they can't. This woman rocks!

    • @karizma8175
      @karizma8175 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      That law was written over 40000 years ago. Aboriginal culture, the oldest around, was only discovered by "Euro's" 230 ish years ago. It was a tribal decision, not based on modernity. It should be respected still as the original occupants of this land still maintain that belief. Cultural appropriation is the weakest argument, but should hold true.

      Nadeem Aslam if you respect indigenous Australia so much maybe you should learn about it and you'll know the answer. The didgeridoo is a sacred instrument. Not used for dubstep. A lady which I do respect should not lay her lips on a didgeridoo. It is a rule since the dream time and white people should not have the rights to change these rules. It is a spiritual instrument only for the men. You can say it's sexist but it is a rule

    • @nashhaenow8814
      @nashhaenow8814 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cher Monroe the didgeridoo is an instrument used for ceremonies. Not for fun. but if you want to play something from a culture you better respect its rules. You don't even know where the didgeridoo comes from. You'll probably look it up. You'll probably say it's from Australia which it is but which part of Australia? You should probably research first before you tell me what to do.

    • @benbowland
      @benbowland 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry, but the didge is no longer purely a tribal instrument. If it was, we wouldn't have ones made out of metal or PVC. It is used as a contemporary instrument, as well as a tribal one, and none of its uses should be discouraged in favor of another.

    If she was using a cultural artifact with the specific intent to blaspheme upon and make a mockery of your rituals, then maybe you could take offense. Those who seek to use this horn as a musical instrument are not at odds with aboriginal cultures who use it as a religious chanting device. To think your culture owns wooden horns in any shape or form they might take is completely ridiculous.You own what you hold onto and believe in, but music belongs to the world and was never yours to have to yourselves.

      1) make your mouth "big" in all the ways. your throat is open cheeks are puffed
      2) make your lips press very lightly on the didge rim. if you press strongly you can't get the undertone

      Hi John I have met players from the first nations of your country who appreciate the awareness that the instrument promotes globally about the colonial past. The well of sorrow is deep indeed!
      And yet most regard the global reach of this sound as beneficial to publicise the awful truths by opening peoples minds and interest in your culture.
      Respectfully Chris

    First of all she shouldn't be playing the yidaki! It is an Intrument used only by men in my culture, and befor anybody decided to say it's sexist ect blah, it is not! In our culture their are certain things that are strictly men's business and things that are strictly woman's business like cultural stories and certain practices including playing the yidaki. secondly this is NOT appealing to listen to, she isn't playing it very well at all and the electronic over tone sounds ridiculous! The dig is meant to sound earthy not inhanced by electronic devices.

    I am an Indigenous First Nations Cultural Ambassador from the Wakka Wakka / Yolngu First nations, Australia.
    My Message is to the TEDX management who invited and allowed a Women by the name of Agustina Mosca to play the didgeridoo (non-indigenous name) to play on TEDx.
    The is not a toy or souvenir for women to commercially profit from, which is exactly what she is doing. (YIDAKI) is part of ancient ceremony's handed by by our elders and family over thousands of years; it is NOT!! for women to play, TEDx is disrespecting Indigenous people of Australia , so is the player.. who knows nothing about our culture practice. :/
    There is no cultural practice of Indigenous women in Australia who play... Never happened and our women are proud and respectful of cultural beliefs !
    It is really disrespectful allowing that and portraying it as if it is ok!! :/
    Typical uneducated and ignorant foreigners who think they can take and use Indigenous culture and use it for their own greed, ego and benefit...

      +John Smith Gumbula Mr. Gumbula, I understand your dismay at the appropriation of your culture by Westerners - it's a theme in life. Can you please enlighten us as why women were prohibited from playing? Also, I can offer you this: Yoga in India was something only for the men to do, but it is now a global phenomenon due to the adoption by western women. Although westerners have stripped the main aspect of yoga, the spiritual part, and perverted and monetized it, I think overall the net effect is beneficial that Yoga and an aspect of Indian culture has spread throughout the world. These women who play are not perverting Aborginal culture. They are gaining fame and money, but they are also spreading knowledge about your people and culture, and sparking interest in them. In the end, I think that is a good thing.

    • @lalamango1
      @lalamango1 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** Not a good comparison since Gumbula is speaking to a cultural tradition based on a religous rite. A more apt example would be Indian yogis condemning women for doing yoga (In ancient India, yoga was only meant to be done by men). But Indians in general liberalized their position.
      But I agree Gumbala/aboriginal thought need to liberalize on this matter because his/their position on this matter in the day and age will not help grow a beneficial understanding of their culture.

      there is freedom in my culture, where i can choose to respect you or not. but i choose to respect, to have respect too. Your culture and history is beautifull, but what makes that beauty is the differents bettewen others and how complex things are. And makes me unhappy knowing that some culture dont agree to share their wisdom thought music. Im from a different culture, and i truly want to learn didgeridoo, and i will. i have been loving didgeridoo for so many years. Im a woman and i have the right to play an instrument that comes from earth, my and our earth. :)

      At first do not talk about things which you do not know. I am an Indian who does practice yoga traditionally and knows the history from the traditional perspective. Yoga was never meant only for men and your statement that western women had adopted it thats why women practice it now is nonsense. I dont want to generalize but what most western women practice is not really yoga its the physical postures, some use to glamorize themself which is not actually yoga meant for.
      Coming back to the point, yoga is been practiced by women in india for thousands of years. literally thousands of years. There are numerous sages who were women. That too in the exterme yogic sect which is known as Naga, there are/were numerous female yoginis who had existed and practised the "real yoga" (not just asanas) and attained liberation. Even now if you come to india you will find a lot of yoginis.
      Infact in yoga there is no concept of men and women, so traditionally if one does yoga there is not even a chance for them to see this difference. There is only life. And you are saying people who practice such culture had discriminated against women. What you see and think of world is just your reflection of what you are inside!!
      Please please please do not talk things you do not know for real.
      P.S:Educate yourself with right resources. Reading crap and shitting crap had become trend these days. www.elephantjournal.com/2010/10/dispelling-one-big-myth-about-women-and-yoga-ramesh-bjonnes/
