In end of January, we took free from work and went husky sledding with our friends Melina and Micke. Huskies, dog sleds, snow and the lights on this day were truly magic.

We are Stina & Matti and we run JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA and WORKING HUSKY KENNEL. We offer guided outdoor tours in Jokkmokk, Sweden Lapland all around the year. During the winter we mostly do sled dog tours and summertime it’s hiking tours, wildlife safaris, canoe and packraft trips. 8.26 nacreous clouds or as they are also called Mother of pearl clouds, can only be seen in Arctic regions. I will never forget the first time I saw them, in my opinion, they are just as spectacular as Aurora Borealis.
Yes, we usually call them mother of pearl. Even though they are beautiful, they are not a very good sign for the environment. /Stina

Yes, Micke and Melli drive Skonk toboggans. We have used them for several years now and are very satisfied. Me and Matti drive also Skonk sleds but of the racing types. /Stina
I especially like the color of Stina's jacket. The drone footage added immensely to this video.

Love that jacket and the color myself. Sadly, the jacket are old and soon too broken to wear anymore, and they don't sell it in that color anymore.

Thank you for the gorgeous pictures and scenery. Are you never afraid of Predators in your area? I‘ve never seen a rifle or anything else in your sled. Aren‘ t there wolves, bears….. who could you or your dogs see as lunch, dinner…….?
Wolves are rare and shy. The brown bears are in their winter rest right now and do not roam around until springtime. The actual danger this time of the year can be moose when they are in the wrong mood or disturbed.

The wildlife over here is really fascinating, especially when you were born and raised in urban or heavily agricultural areas of Europe such as I was. Many animals extinct or extremely rare in my former home country Germany are quite a common sight up here. Not to speak of simple red deer and all the birds that literally look through the windows of our living room on a daily basis during winter as if they lost all shyness. It is amazing.
The brown bears getting close to the house every spring are a bit of a concern though, as we happen to have several bee hives on the premises ;-)
Thank you, Daniela! Our friend Alexander already explained our situation with preditors. We also have wolverines and Lynx, but they are very very shy. As Alex said, the moose are the animals we are most afraid of in winter. /Stina

Who are creating your tracks? It looks like a mixture of snowmobile and what even could look like snowcats or a Bandvagn.
Is there a network you follow and/or maintain yourself? Finally I got intrigued, how far do you go (hours/km)?
Most of the trails we use in the forest area around Jokkmokk we create and maintain ourselves. To goome the trails we use something called a snowmover. You can see it in, for example, this video: th-cam.com/video/2dL4c97SghM/w-d-xo.html
