Could you explain what you mean by one side at a time? Are you opening the short straddle first and then opening the long calendar strangle? Or you are opening either the bearish/bullish diagonal first and then adjusting

Aren't the long positions more to reduce buying power requirement than for protection?
For closing the trade, I go by their management video of a few months ago, which showed that 25% profit target or 50% loss reached or 1 hour time passed reached worked best for recentering the trade (whichever comes first).

This is super interesting. I'll be curious to see how this data plays out over the next 12, 24, and 36 months. If this data remains constant, or anywhere close to what is being shown here, this 0/30 DTE Diagonal Rolling strategy seems game-changing.

Do you know if they have a video that explains the mechanics of doing these diagonals as well as rolling the wings? This isn't a trade i'm familiar with. I guess what i'd specifically want to find out is when you oll the wings? Same day? The next day when you put on another 0dte guts? If its same day, do you roll to a 31 DTE so that the next day your guts will have a 30DTE?

Today at about 1030 NY time I bought a 1 lot XSP double diagonal - 0dte straddle at $478p/$477c; and 7dte $472p/$485c. XSP price has gone sideways, best case for a short straddle, and it looks like I will have a good shot at full profit, which was $0.97....
I have not traded these with 30dte for the strangles. Alo, instead of "re-centering, I have been managing the diagonals separately, when the underlying price is moving.

  • @DaveShedd

How do you manage losers? For purposes of the last study I think they were left to expire, which on a big move could be a loss 2 or 3 times the straddle credit? I've only done 2 of these double diagonals yesterday and today, both small winners. I saw several people asked the same question on the previous 0DTE videos. Also a lot of people asked about the details of rolling at 25% profit. Today after SPX moved up 15 points above my short strikes I rolled the straddle 15 points up and to 1DTE at a credit, lowering my cost basis by $450. Eager for suggestions.

    • @user70331

To convert the VIX to a daily volatility number, simply divide by 16%. For example, a VIX of 12% divided by 16% = 0.75%. This means that the VIX is "pricing" about 0.75% daily volatility. A VIX of 16 would imply 1% daily volatility.

@@sethhanson4485 you definitely will see moves large enough to breach the 30-day expected move, which is where the diagonal strikes are set. The late 75-pt dump in 2hrs on 12/20 a good example. If you hadn't taken early profit on the put diagonal, only a stop loss could've saved you from max loss. Rolling that late in the day is not going to be better than setting a stop loss order.
