My daughter made me go to a Hippo Campus concert at First Avenue last winter because she was only 17, and needed a parent to get in. When the music started, I was mesmerized---If you can imagine, they are even more amazing in concert than they are on their albums! Ever since, my daughter and I both look for opportunities to see them again (thank you, MN State Fair!!). These guys have real talent as musicians, poets, and showmen. So happy for the success of these Minnesota boys!!
More bands should do things like this, the purest way to hear an album. They aren't concerned with putting on a good show, they are just vibing to their music for the small crowd to enjoy. Dig it
Ario said it best "A perfect mixture of talented people". I've been a musician for many years and played in many bands over time, and these guys have it. I hope they always remember the positive impact they are having on so many people ...and that they are doing such an amazing job! Not afraid to be themselves at all. Who needs fast, distorted and sloppy guitar shreds when there are these amazing guitar tones and harmony.
This is the first band I've stumbled across where I can truly discern between each individual band members instrument. It's amazing to just listen carefully to each individually and see how they perfectly tie in and harmonise. They're all so equally talented and it truly feels like a band, not just lead vocals and a little background strumming.
Listening to this entire album, especially monsoon and vacation, on mushrooms on a beautiful day outside was one of the most beautiful experiences of my life. "Dropping hallucinogens to find serene with oak and cedar".
I lived in Minneapolis from 1985 through 1997 and enjoyed all the great bands of that time. The Replacements, Gear Daddies, Soul Asylum, Jayhawks, Prince, Johnny Lang, etc. I just discovered these guys on CBS Saturday morning a few weeks ago weeks ago. They are so talented and very cool 😎
you can really see they enjoy playing their music and that makes me enjoy it as well, also every song is so beautiful, their sound is so good, the whole atmosphere is so peaceful idk, i really love this band

I could not even have a guess how young they are. I thought that was pretty much a mature band... Surprised and shocked! Can't imagine how big they will be if they won't stop and keep on going till LP#... say 10 at least. Huge talent, tremendous potential and great music - already! Thank you guys!
