And some people say that English doesn't make sense. I never thought that starting a sentence with "And" or "But" was incorrect. I do it all the time, in text writing. And, writing, to me, is fun. If it's fun, to me, what I write, then, it's fine. I get a sense that some people have a sort of deep fear of sounding incorrect : the language police, so to speak, will intervene, I guess. There's a language, now, that wasn't considered a language, not very long ago, only a mere local dialect, it's Haitian Creole. There's a saying, in Haitian Creole, that somewhat states that Haitian Creole is spoken, and that it's understood. There are rules, now, that didn't exist, before Haitian Creole was made into an official language, that make some people be critical of how some people use it. Before, one could even make up words, while speaking, and, that wasn't a problem. Meaning, if you get my drift, that's what matters. You could speak, about someone, without that someone realizing that. Odd to say, about Haitian Creole, no non-native can ever pass for a native, speaking it. Somehow, something reveals the attempt to pass for a native, and not just in the accent. The choice of words matters. English can be fun. Let's make it fun.
The most surprising part of the lesson is using the plural for an unknown person with an unidentified gender🤯I recalled that the grammatical structure of Hemingway's 'For whom the bell tolls?' was a rabbit hole when I was a student. Now, it seems simpler to me than 'Who does the bell toll for?'🤣 I enjoyed these topics. Thank you, Claire!😊
I appreciate your this video. I often forget prepositions at the end of sentences. For example, 'What are you looking?'. Here I forget 'at' after 'looking'. As for myth 5, I often think what the original sentence is. For example, 'Long time no see'. I don't know it grammatically. I wonder if it's the only way to learn these informal sentences one by one. Have a good day!(^-^)/
The one that surprised me the most was myth #3 doubles negatives, TY for this great lesson!👍🏻
Really? double negative is common sense buddy. If u understand you should automatically know that yourself
I got it! Thank you for letting me know about the language tips. I do not ignore the rules of use in English!
Ευχαριστούμε!

You’re right, it’s easier to learn them as phrases individually! 🤓
