Trains at Eaton Lane LC ft. 'The Ancient Kingdom' - 15th June 2024

Hi guys, and welcome back to another video once again from Eaton Lane Level Crossing near Retford on the East Coast Mainline. This visit was quite special as there was a plethora of exciting movements happening that evening. The main reason for visiting the crossing was to see a railtour worked by 2 GBRf Class 57s, 57306 and 57310 which have recently been outshopped in the GBRf livery! The railtour was operated by UK Railtours and was called 'The Ancient Kingdom'. In the morning, the train ran from London Kings Cross to Berwick-upon-Tweed before heading up to the Joppa Straight. It then returned to Berwick before making it's way back to London in the afternoon. It passed us at around 20:15.
Also running was one of Royal Mail's Class 325's, 325015, which was the last Royal Mail train to run on the southern part of the ECML, so my first and last time seeing one locally!
In total, we saw a great selection of trains including:
- Multiple LNER Class 800/801 'Azumas'.
- A few Hull Trains Class 802 'Paragons'.
- A Lumo Class 803.
- A Grand Central Class 180 'Zephyr'.
- My favourite ECML Regulars, 2 LNER InterCity 225s!
- The Royal Mail Class 325!
- GBRf 57306 and 57310 on the railtour!
So all in all, it was an absolutely fantastic spotting session with perfect weather conditions too!
