    Loved your video, as usual, and particularly enjoyed the demo of your Lowery stand. I have one too and can't stitch without it! I just love it - particularly the quick release that you demonstrated and the ability to push it out of the way. Although I'm stateside, I bought my Lowery stand years ago from Sew and Sew and couldn't believe how fast they shipped it to me! So great job, and keep those videos coming!

      Yay another Lowery fan! I could not stitch without mine either - no way I could stitch my HAEDs and Chatelaines holding the frame! Sew and So are awesome too - couldn't stitch without them either :).

    I just want to say 'Thank You' for this video. I bought myself a Lowery stand from Sewandso.co.uk and I couldn't be happier.Also, the difference in price between the UK and the States was just incredible. I started using it on my new project last night and after a short learning curve, I was off and running.Thank you,again

    I've used sqizzers for years when I did decoupage, they are great for stitching. I would love a lowery stand, but can't afford it just yet, so will continue drooling over everyone else's. Thanks for the review.

    Used to have this stand I sold it as you know i like my hand hoops but I still kept my DMC floor stand hoop as I do like it also, I did like the stitchsmart one I had until it snagged my fabric and made a whole as you would have seen in one of my videos!! Yep sold it to...My hubby uses those squissors I shall have to try it..lol loved McKenzie's comment haha!

    Thanks so much for talking about your stand. I just got my millinium frame in a few weeks ago and while I do love it I will have to get some kind of stand. I really need something that doesn't take up a lot of space and I think I've found the answer! Thanks again:)

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hope you found the video useful Christy! I'm not sure what size millennium frame others use with their Lowery, but I'm pretty sure if you have a Google you will come up with some viewpoints. I don't have millennium frames I am just going on the viewpoint of stitchers that use both - I know there is a video on TH-cam by Nicola Parkman who reviews the stand that goes with the millennium frames - so I would check that out for comparison too just in case :).

    • @sweetpeasouthernhome
      @sweetpeasouthernhome 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have watched some reviews and also the video on the millenium frame. I'm going to order the lowery soon. It will fit my space much better. And thanks for the tip to use sew and so. I can't believe the markup in the states! It's much less expensive to order from the uk...even with shipping!

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know the price difference is crazy - Sew and So will probably have a run on Lowery stands to the States now and wonder what is going on lol!

    Thank you very much for this video. I have been looking into the Lowery Stand for a while but I could never find the information I needed. I use the Plastic Snap Frame and I wasnt sure that the side clamp would work for me but looking at your brilliant video I can see that it will work fine and no need to spend the additional money on the corner clamp ! Also if you go to 'Siesta Frames' in the UK they have an offer on the Lowery Side Clamp at the moment - £77 plus shipping which is slightly better than Sew and So (which have no stock at the moment!!) Many thanks for your very information video - I am off to buy the Lowery !

    Oh, and I just checked US prices for the lowery stand. It's ranging upwards of $300. So it is definitely more affordable through sew and sew.

      Yep - the exact same model I have (powder grey with side clamp) works out at $114 ish without delivery!

    Great reviews Amanda! I have to get one of those squissors from Mabel! I keep forgetting them, they definitely look really useful! I am pretty happy with my stitchmaster stand but the Lowery was the other option I considered... went with the stitchmaster because being wooden it goes better with my front room furniture also because I did bot liked the idea of a stand that grab my frame. Now that I actually saw how easy it is to twist it a pull it away only the metal look put me off :-))

      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Amanda,
    I have a few more questions if you don't mind. What type of frame do you use and what would be a good size of frame for me to start with in your opinion? I am seriously considering the Lowery stand and I like the frames you are using with it. They don't appear to be so bulky or heavy. I will start working on smaller say 8x10 or a little bigger designs for now. And could you give me a measurement of how far you can extend the arm of the Lowery in inches? I need to see if I would need to order the extender arm or not to fit my chair. I am pretty new to cross stitching. I am considering the powder grey Lowery with the side clamp. Is that the one you have? The stainless is a bit higher price. I really appreciate all of your help. Your work is beautiful and your videos are so helpful. Please keep making them! Thanks again!
    Janet

    I did not include my phi
    One or tab either because I use them to listen to books or watch youtube haha. Glad I'm not the only one that needs sound while,e I'm stitching ;)

      Definitely - I couldn't stitch in silence! Can't have something (or someone lol!) that is too distracting on the TV though or else very few stitches get done :)!

      So very true. Hubby and I watch game of thrones and the other night we finished up the current season I literally sat there needle in hand..he turned and said...you gonna use that?? Lol. I didn't realize I had just been sitting there holding the needle...it was an intense episode.

    now, let's not be ridiculous! everyone matches their needle minders with their stitching! ..or not?
    thanks for showing your stand so well, I'll definitely think about it should I ever need one. right now I'm at table frames because I need to keep my back sitting properly or I'll end up like the Hunchback of Notre Dame! :P

      Not quite sure what you mean, but these are straight squissors, not angled in any way. If you follow the links in the video description you can see the type of squissors I use :).

    Thanks so much for your review of the Lowery, as it is No. 1 on my search for a stand. I recently found the great prices through SewAndSo less the VAT since I live in the USA. I am a needlepointer and I use a laying tool most of the time. Do you stitch w/ both hands and how does the Lowery fare w/ two-handed stitching?

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      You're welcome Myra, I think Sew and So have been doing a roaring trade in these this past month :). I'm not a two handed stitchers but know plenty that are and they find their Lowerys invaluable for two handed stitching - you will have no problems!

    I wish I had done my research before I bought the stand I have. I hate mine. I have since drawn up a short list and the Lowery Stand is number one on the list. If I ever have any spare money I will definitely be buying one!! I want the chart holder and accessory tray to go on it. xx

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Kerry, Lowerys are quite expensive but are a fantastic investment (a bit like millennium frames), I've used mine just about everyday give or take for the last three years and just couldn't stitch without it. They are worth saving up for - actually they do come up every so often on Ebay, so worth keeping your eyes peeled for a bargain just in case :).

    • @kerryemmiebet
      @kerryemmiebet 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I will do. I have the Stitchsmart stand with the accessory pack. I use it every day but I definitely have a love/hate relationship with it!!! xx

    Thanks lovely for the Lowery stand review. It's now on the wish list for next year. It will cost over $100 to get it here! also thanks for the link for the needle minders. Love me some Jane. Even thinking of getting the Bothy Threads Jane Austen pattern for sh!ts and giggles :)

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      I saw that JA one and the Shakespeare Bothy Threads - love the idea but not really my style :( though they look like they would be fun to stitch so never say never lol! $100 to ship!!!! Ugh that's a lot of stash money just for delivery :(.

    Great video! Which frames do you use for your large projects? One project planned for 2015 will be large so I want a scroll frame :) figure will be easier to manage if I can find a frame wide enough lol

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jackie, I use the same type of frames (ones shown in this video) for all my projects, I just have them in varying widths to accommodate my bigger projects. My largest is 30 x 12 inches which is the width of my HAED Dafodils project.

    A very informative video especially seeing the stand in use. Do you stitch much in hand? I haven't got a stand. I will seriously think about getting one. I can see how useful it would be for BAPs.

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No I never stitch in hand Jan - I couldn't trust myself! Any small I stitch I usually use a hoop which I hold, but I really admire in hand stitchers! I know some Chatelaine stitchers that stitch in hand, but for me I feel I need proper tension on my fabric to stitch, especially speciality stitches.

    Hahaha, I always put my needle in my mouth too, even though I have a perfectly good pincushion to put it in. But I do that with pens and pencils too. It's just habit, I guess.
    I love your squissors! They're awesome. Where did you get them from? :)
    Thanks for the review of the Lowery stand. I don't have anywhere to stitch in my house (I sit cross-legged on my bed), but one day when I move out I'd love a stand. That looks pretty awesome. :)

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Emily! I read an article (in the Guardian I think) of a woman (dressmaker) that inhaled a pin and even that did not scare me senseless enough to stop putting needles in my mouth! Squissors you can buy in a few places, the links are in the video description - Sew and So and Mabel Figworthy's are the two I recommend :). A Lowery stand would work next to your bed..........just sayin......

    • @Serukis
      @Serukis 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ha, the one video I forgot to check the description. Thanks! :)
      This is true! Hmmm, hard to resist. I may ask for one for Christmas... along with some frames that are actually big enough to hold some of my WIPs. Only two of my WIPs are actually in frames at the moment because I have nothing big enough to hold them!
      Scroll frames are surprisingly cheap on Sew and So, though. So perhaps I'll get a couple of big ones and then ask for the stand for Christmas.
      Must resist!

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, no wobbling at all - you just need to put something heavy on the base as a counter weight :).

  • @thereallifeofmi
    @thereallifeofmi 10 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you for the video, been thinking about going from having my fabric in my hand to put it on a frame and use a stand. Do you have any frames you recommend?

    • @mrsmilkybarkid3318
      @mrsmilkybarkid3318  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      The frames I use personally are Easy Clip Rotating Hand frames - but I suspect most stitchers that have them would recommend Millennium frames! It all depends how tight you think you would like your fabric to be on the frame - the tension on my frames isn't drum tight, but I can live with it :).

      Ha ha I thought that too - but apparently my cross list wishlist tag was shorter! Don't worry I make up for it with my July update video (probably be uploaded Fri/Sat) I filmed it today and it is almost an hour long.......don't ask - I have no idea how showing four WIPs and my stash acquisitions for the month takes THAT long! Seriously what is wrong with me?! On second thoughts don't answer that....... :)
