- After years of tearing down the Red Sea Reefer Peninsula Reef Tank and Purchasing a 2nd Red Sea Reefmat 1200 Filter Fleece Roller, I finally get around to installing both Reefmats. I needed to modify the existing sump to be able to use them in it. After a whole lot of effort and ignorance on my part, tragedy struck in the reef aquarium.

I have the opposite effect - cyano on the sand but not on the rocks. I have the caribsea rock, but some of it is like 7 or 8 years old, when they first released the shapes. So maybe the formula changed or I cycle thru the issue over time. Sorry about the fish losses man. That sucks! Wrasses need lots of oxygen but I am not sure about butterflyfish.
Yeah. I don't think the rock is the issue with the cyanobacteria. It had me thinking for sure but never had an issue with it before. I'm going to let it run its course.

Man I feel for ya, I hope your tank bounces back. Friendly tip when my tank seems to be low on water because I tend to move my scale or remove rocks from display I lower the spend in my return pump and that seems to raise my water level in my sump, in short it helps when you’re in a bind and need more water. Just lower the speed in the return pump. Hope that helps.
Had carrib sea life rock for three years any time i added another piece ended up with dinos (three times). sold what i had left, and went with more seeded live rock from kp aquatics.
