This was aired in 2017 . He sold the script at Aston’s Auctioneers in Dudley on Thu 3 May 2018.
William Hartnell’s original script from the very first episode of Doctor Who has been sold at auction for £6,200 plus fees, taking the total to £7,500. Anthony Coburn’s An Unearthly Child, billed as episode one of the story Doctor Who and the Tribe of Gum, runs to 43 pages.

I am truly surprised it went so low. I would guess these days you could almost add a zero to that figure.

I watched the very first episode of Dr Who and all of the subsequent ones. Like me, Dr Who gripped the nation snd certainly gave us boys something to talk about at school the day after. A truly great concept!

William Hartnell was always my favourite Doctor until Matt Smith came along.. Now I think he was the best Doctor ever

Hey! That's awesome. Matt is my favourite and William Hartnell is my second too! The difference being though I actually fell in love with Hartnell after Smith was my favourite as I grew up I really came to appreciate those early stories.

Matt Smith (& the lovely Jenna Coleman) were part of the best Who series. I thought the storylines darker and more grown up than before. Tennant was good too. I liked Hartnell at the time but his irascibility was always never far away...

Probably a conservative estimate. Can imagine this going off the scale at an auction!

I agree. A similarly rare script in the US would probably fetch 10x that.

    What actually are high teeth?

If you're having High Tea, they are the ones that ding against the teacup first. The saying comes from the old court where the King/Queen would have the "high teeth" pulled from folks that embarrassed themselves by dinging their teeth on the teacup, hence, something Royal.
But, in case it's a serious question, you probably misheard "some fans would give their eye teeth" which is just a phrase that means it's highly sought-after.
