I cannot believe how hard they turned me around with just ONE trailer. The last showcase had me firmly in the "oh this is not going to even come close to doing the original justice" camp, and then suddenly they drop this trailer and every part of it is *incredible*.
The earlier stuff was ABSOLUTELY more in a beta stage I feel? As soon as they took feedback and changed James’ face I was like “okay so we ARE cooking.”

In the original jail scene, Maria initially seems more innocent and playful towards the beginning of the scene, and gradually gets more sinister. In this version, it seems to be the opposite. She has a manipulative tone reminiscent to that of Hanibal Lectre, but gets more emotional toward the end of the scene. I think it's a great direction for this version!
Yes, that was probably their intention. Nice change IMO, but we'll see how the entire scene plays out.

I can't believe that out of every character in the game, It's Eddie that completely floored me with how they did him in the remake. I can't imagine him being any more perfect than he looked in the trailer. They somehow made him look more pitiable while also giving him a piercing icy gaze that really sells how far gone he was by the time we meet him in the Prison. He barely looked like he even registered that James was standing in front of him. Can't wait to see how they handle his fight.

I'm so glad they eased a lot of people's minds when they showed a lot of these shot for shot clips. Really shows how they're trying to keep as much of the original as possible while adding their own creative style to it. Simply cannot wait for release.

I was one of the people that had faith in Bloober from the start, knowing they were huge fans of this game, and it's so nice to see so many others become optimistic and even sold with this remake now because of this trailer and the new gameplay 🙏 The positivity surrounding this is amazing to see. I’ve been arguing with folks this whole time like I get it, but you can tell Bloober is huge fans of the series. They wouldn’t be in charge of the story at all just the ATMOSPHERE which I’ve always appreciated from them! I’m so stoked.

All those same emotions I felt 22+ years ago came flooding back and I was not expecting to get so emotional! This game looks amazing and they absolutely nailed it! They've done everything I wanted in this remake and much more. Can't friggin' wait!

I like how they are going about the scene in the new game, instead of Maria acting fake by her laughing at noting and acting like she likes James so much, she is like a empty husk going through the motions showing you how its not real, but then when she puts it on she puts it on and you get like lost in the fantasy of "see I am real." While its different from the original it accomplishes the same goal in a different way which is real neat to see something new but sticking to the og.

As a big fan of silent hill 2 I kust say, this trailer looks amazing. I still dont think it will touch the origial but it looks like its going to be a great remake. The only problem i have with this trailer is Marias dead pan delivery when she's talking about the video tape. In the original when she drops the "I'm not your Mary" line, her personality changes and in this one she just sounds bored. All in all, great trailer.

I've been a fan of this series since I was honestly probably too young to be, wore the discs out on my old PS2. My first ever handmade cosplay was a cardboard Pyramid Head. My mom came and got me out of high school early for a fake doctor's appt that was actually us going to see the Silent Hill movie (she liked watching me play the games and was a bit of a fan too).
I LOVE Silent Hill. And I can tell Bloober does too. Even way back to finding easter eggs referencing the SH games in their older games like Observer. I'm so glad Konami trusted them with it, and they were able to pull off all the improvements from the initial trailers.
By all accounts, from people that got the chance to play it for a few hours, it is SHOCKINGLY good. I'm so excited to get my hands on it.

She doesn’t seem to have any emotion, flip back and forth to Mary/Maria, doesn’t get angry “I’m not your Mary”, and her eyes don’t roll back into her head “I am if you want me to be”. Can’t wait for the game tho!!! Hope they include a VR mode like RE7, RE8, and RE4 Remake!!!

I have felt like i'm the only person in this world who loves this version of Maria more. She looks so beautiful and her eyes look so scary suddenly when she says "I am not your Mary." I also love her new outfit much more. And Mary's letter line sounds so heartbreaking I want to cry. 😭
I also like new Eddie more. The og one looked and acted like a manic college jock bully, but in remake he looks scary and dangerous. I feel like I will love all the characters more in remake.

this is one of the biggest 180 turns ive ever seen with a fanbase. the first few trailers we've seen didnt impress... in fact i hated them. these 2 new ones just turned it around.. wowww. i attribute it to akira yamaokas guitars...

At first the teaser did not sold me at all, and then I remembered they did The Medium which I liked since it was like a love letter to the Survival Horror from the 32-bit era.
Then this trailer showed up and I have immediately pre-ordered the Steam version faster than I can react.
I love the PS2 version (my top favorite PS2 game), and this trailer really sold me. I’m really liking Maria’s voice actress and model. She captured the character from the original- well I won’t spoil for the newcomers. There is one spoiler not covered in both new and OG PS2 trailer. It dropped my guard when I found out the truth.
Well I said enough. I can’t wait.
Ash, you described it perfectly- the nostalgia this trailer gave me??? I used to watch my dad play this game and we’d work on the puzzles together. Video games and puzzles were how we connected. We never finished the game and the monsters always freaked me out but I will be tearing up / full on crying with you on stream knowing I can’t see my dad enjoy this remake. About the one thing I would nitpick is that in the Original, Maria has a lot of venom in the cell scene. But other than that. Holy shit what an improvement. October can't get here fast enough. On a side note. The 2000 Tokyo Game Show trailer of Silent Hill 2 will always be my favourite one mostly due to an unreleased track at the end of the trailer that perfectly captures the sadness and melancholy of the whole game.

Didn´t felt her tone at start,call me stupid but it´s not the same feeling,not saying that is bad but it doesn´t feel the same tone,graphics,gameplay etc it´s perfect,hopt it sells well to also get silent hill origins and 1 both are insane in everything aspect.Like and sub,grettings from argentina.
I'm so tired of all the stupid "woke" accusations about the changes to Maria that have been floating around and have intensified since the story trailer dropped. A midriff with a pink cheetah-print skirt doesn't scream "sex" the same way it did back in the early 2000's and would look extremely dated now in a very stupid way. OG Maria hit the player over the head with "I'm a sassy sex object", and it worked really well in getting that part of her character across. With detailed models and facial mocap Maria seems to be far more realistic with how she expresses sexuality to James in the last line of the trailer (the pacing of her words, the heavy sigh, the inflection on "I'm real"). It's a far more accurate (de-pornified) depiction of what sexuality between long-term partners actually looks like. It's not just being horny, but also the closeness and vulnerability that comes with being sexual with a partner. This makes what James wanted from Mary but couldn't have when she was sick all the more poignant and tragic. I'm more excited than ever for new Maria!
I wouldn’t say Eddie is ‘normal’. He’s definitely got issues from the second you meet him. But I’ll agree he’s not that bat shit crazy at the start 😂

My gut reaction to this was irritation. I'm hyped, but the scene with Maria behind bars feels like it misses the mark. In the original, Maria sounds like Mary when she speaks to James about stuff only Mary would know about/feel. When he asks "Aren't you Maria?" her voice change is so goddamn bone chilling when she says "I'm not your Mary." Just shivers, every time, for decades every time I see that scene.
In the new trailer, she sounds the same, the whole time. To be fair, on a 3rd watch, she indeed sounds like Mary (only in the video tape scene, though; her letter reading voice sounds a biiit more akin to OG Mary vibes in contrast), but I feel like its because she's making the two characters sound the same when they originally weren't intended to sound/speak the same.
If I'm being charitable, remake Maria's monologue behind bars sounds like a woman James has grown with over the years with and is picking his brain. My gut is telling me she sounds like a tired, bored woman James had a one night stand with. Its just so bland. She's a great voice actress, but I feel like whoever was directing the voice acting in this scene needs to study the OG scene more. By today's standards a total voice changeup is maybe tacky/corny, but there was *something* that original voice direction was conveying. It makes James and the player question who/what the hell Maria is and what she's doing.
Angela is still a disappointment to me. The voice direction sounding so bored instead of lost just makes me annoyed with her character.
Idk, maybe I'll change my mind once I play the game. I just got a SH tat as my first tat so I'm obviously not gonna miss out on this.

I don't have a problem with the added lines, the change in James' first encounter with a monster, etc. I have a problem when the most integral parts of the delivery of the story feel stale and uninspired.
I recently saw a low budget fan-made live action SH2 trailer, and even the actress there delivered the labyrinth lines more faithfully than this did. Even there, they picked up on the switch in demeanor in the delivery of the line "I'm not your Mary." Its blatant. Not hard to see. I'm flabbergasted as to how they didn't even attempt this. This whole scene was a mindfuck for players of the original and for James. Here its presented as just... lines being read. There's a bit of mystery in her delivery of that line, but the deviousness is absent. The deviousness was integral to this scene. It made you writhe in your skin.
Don't get me wrong she's great in her delivery. But the direction is wrong if they're trying to make a "faithful" remake, which is something they've been claiming. Maybe they're going for something different, idk. But that's hard to believe given the effort that they've made everywhere else.
I cannot wait to for Leon and Ashley mods on this thing...

The gameplay trailer seemed to NOT have Pyramid boy, molesting the mannequin monster. If that's truly scrapped from the final game, then that would be disappointing. The whole point of Pyramidhead is about being a perv. 😅

tbh I don't like the voice direction for mary/maria in the remake. She sounds so bored. Is she not supposed to sound like Mary when channeling her memories to fuck with James? There's supposed to be a clear switch between the two and there just isn't.
Remember, we only have the OG monster designer and soundtrack guy, so it would make sense that they're missing some of the writing and character symbolism

I like the voice, but I agree that the original had more spite and venom to it. I see it that she’s completely lifeless and apathetic. Even the way she calls him forgetful comes off condescending. I like the way her face changes so much though. It goes from cold and tight to soft and her eyes light up when she gets up to comfort James.
12:58 Im not a fan of new "I'm not your Mary". This has very strong impact on this scene. The original creators knew what they were doing here, and the “Making of Silent Hill 2” clearly describes it, and there's a lot of sense in that. It's a shame, but in terms of the overall story, I'm delighted. Laura, James and Eddy promise to be brilliant. Angela has a great voice in this trailer, and Mary/Maria is a bit of an unknown to me.
Why was this trailer good? Because they copyed the old one. Literally everything that is new or made by blooper in the game is bad. The animations different voice acting and stupid box moving puzzels from last of us.
See how the canera focus on marias hand and blurr her face? Well for me it was an important moment and i want to see that face. Also the new camera ruins the shot were james sees marys dress and picks up the flashlight
