    The book paper tray that was too tall stuck me as a great desk caddy piece . One for pens and one tray for note paper would be charming and as always custom made. I'm wanting to paint a cardboard basket an antique green , then I remembered this video .

    I love wonkie things too and this trunk has so much character and is so cute. I remember seeing you make small trunks which I love as well. You really give them all so much personality as if they are living things. It's amazing what you can do with tin foil, masking tape, glue, paper towel and a little bit of cardboard and some paint! ❤❤❤

    Your trunk has all the character of an antique trunk, that has been used, loved and to cherish all through the years, and to pass down to waiting generations, that is why it is wonky, lid dips on on side, an unexpected bulge here or there etc. As always, so enjoyable. In Joy

      that is my favorite part of building with foil, and being able to add on or take away at any time, makes it a stress free building experience. I'm so grateful for foil, I truly am.. there was so many things that wood and/or cardboard stopped me from building but foil said just DO IT! hahaha, I love that!

      The other name online for the split pins is paper Brad's. If you wanted to experiment again you could try using a button for holding the wax thread in place on the box. You put the thread through the box, then through the button then knot it. That should save it pulling through. A flat button I should imagine would be best.

      I have refurbished real antique trunks for each member of my immediate family. For my Dad's I lined his with an old atlas, it looks amazing and he loves it! I should have mentioned that in the video... next one I will for sure. You can find old atlas books in thrift stores. Thank you for clarifying things that turn out not exactly so "perfect" for you. It is taking me some time to get the technique of working with foil, tape the paper towels and glue to build things.

    • @WhereTheGnomesLive
      @WhereTheGnomesLive  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      it does take a bit to get used to building this way. The material builds strength with each layer we add. Once the paper towel is dry then it gets easier, I think anyway. For me it's allowing things to not be perfect that helps me build with more confidence. The projects always go through a bit of an ugly stage too but I've learned over the years to keep going anyway and the end results make it worth it. Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate that. Happy crafting!

      any foil will work aside from the non stick. I believe the strong one I'm using would also be called heavy duty. No, not too stiff at all, it's easier to work with and I prefer it since you can use less of it. The other foils will work you'll just have to use more than I use in the video. Thanks for asking!
