I was so impressed with this episode! I loved the booby traps earlier in the episode and loved how Mac was able to bring the helicopter down like he did. The fight was quicker than I thought though.
I'm guessing the quick fight scenes are more realistic, this show didn't do the drawn-out overly dramatized fight scenes of other series. Hand-to-hand combat isn't the point of the show or MacGyver's specialty, the emphasis is more on his problem solving skills.

ON THE FIRST HALF OF THE FIRST SEASON MAcGYVER WAS AN ACCOMPLISHED MARTIAL ARTIST BUT THEY CHANGED IT WHICH WAS STUPID BECAUSE SECRET AGENTS ARE TRAINED IN MARTIAL ARTS BECAUSE YOU DONT KNOW WHO YOUR GONNA FIGHT UP AGAINST. AND GENERATION NARAI IS A GREAT MARTIAL ARTS FIGHTER.
I had noticed that. Seemed like early on in the first season he could fight, but later on you see him getting beat up or knocked out, to him finally taking someone down by using his brains or using an object to knock them out.
That winch didn't look like it was held onto the truck very well - notice once the heli is lassoed when mac starts cranking on it how much it wobbles? I'm sure if the pilot gave a good yank on the collective that winch would have simply sheared right off :P
I'm a helicopter pilot and a good pilot flying an MD500 wud kno when someone or something is on his skids. Its throws of the helicopter's balance a bit.

Its an 80s show, BUT: - no way the pilot would not have noticed 150lbs on one the skids (either visually or control wise) - no way the pilot could not have just yanked the cheap winch out - the pilot, noticing the human on the skids, could have just yanked the collective and climbed up/maneuvered rapidly until human fell to their death

The copter's bounce back up would be hindered by this new lack of rope length, thus allowing more free cord through more downward momentum, which MacGyver would again coil up. This cycle would continue until the copter pilot has no choice to land. idk, maybe.
