Save yourself some time and trouble. Add cornflour and butter and milk to a pot and stir until boiling. Instant béchamel sauce; add cheese while hot and remove from heat and stir, instant mornay sauce. No need to brutalise a good pot with a metal whisk. Ps, add mustard powder or good old hot English mustard and salt (or just use salted butter) and white pepper for extra flavour. Spring onions or chives or parsley for a little bit of green.
An Italian relative told me once that for every can of tomatoes or tomatoes you should add 5mls of sugar to counteract the acidity of the tomatoes. The fresh tomatoes are usually ok but if we add canned tomatoes or pasata then we need to add sugar. We are a little bit of a mixed bag family. Irish Italian Newcastle 😂😂 great video again Ian ❤
Made that look nice and easy Ian. Making the sauce the day before is a good idea. Means just building the lasagne when I come home. I know most people like the air fryers these days but the oven makes everything look and taste better. Some of us still use ovens and its great to see you using it today Ian.
Hi Gillian thanks so much, we do try and not use our gadgets all the time for that exact reason 👍 recipes that can be done in oven or stove top, sometimes it's easier and quicker to use the air frier but appreciate not everyone has one 😊👍
Your lasagne looks great Ian. I love lasagne but I only like home made ones. I can’t eat the ones from the supermarket. I haven’t made one for a very long time. I might make a couple of small ones, one for me and one for the freezer. Thanks for your video, I always enjoy yours and Amanda’s videos very much. Enjoy your week
I worked with an Italian lady who always put pepperoni in her lasagna so I tried it and mama Mia a taste sensation. Please try it I’m sure you and Mandy would love it . Fantastic dish yet again thanks for sharing 😊xx
A different take on my Lasagne. I put mushrooms in mine, and a couple of OXO cubes. I also layer the bechamel sauce in with the meat and Lasagne sheets. Then I top it with Grated Cheddar - can't abide Parmesan - YUK ! Anyway, yours looks lovely, and it's quite an easy dish to create. Thanks for sharing this recipe - I'll give it a try your way 🙂
If you want agreat vegetarian one using different sized mushrooms with a Kallo stock cube (I’m a bit of a stock cube freak I take a nibble of this flavour and that one and mix them into alovely before bed drink, I haven’t slept this well in years) but if take a third of tomato and herb 1/2 a shroom and 1/3 of a veg stock cube you’ll make an amazing stock for a veggie based dish, also adding little nibbles of the stock cube to the bovril cubes (I use q1/2 a cube per drink and a nibble of tomato and herb and mushroom is lovely in a 300ml mug is agreat bed time drink add some garlic and onion granules and it’s like a beautifully simmered broth)
I’ve never seen the white sauce on top of the lasagna like you did, but it looks very good. Is that your particular recipe or is that common over in your neck of the woods Ian? Another great video! Thank you!
Hi Jude 😊 it's something we've always done with this recipe, don't think it's a regional thing, I've seen it used in layers or like I did on the top 👍😊 many thanks 😊
Lots of Italian cooks make lasagna with a bechamel sauce, but my Italian grandma taught me to use ricotta instead. I have lately been wanting to try one with bechamel and this looks like a winner to try. Thanks Ian for giving me a recipe for it. Looks so delicious. I also have never used fresh mozzarella and that looked so good. 👍👍👍
@@BeddyEatsFoodoh I forgot to say that I also make my sauce the night before. Makes it so much easier and quicker to put it together and get it into the oven.
You need a meat masher for the mince, once you've used one you'll never go back to a wooden spoon for it 😉 Im afraid I had to skip through the scraping, its not because it's noisy its the actual noise it makes lol xx
I’m loving both your channel and your good lady,s but my I make a suggestion that you use either a spatula or silicone whisker as the noise of the metal one drowned your voice and could not hear what you were saying. Please don’t take offence people like Me with hearing aids it was a bit deafening. Always look for both of your recipes every day please keep them coming
Hi Jennifer, I think mushrooms would work really well as an alternative to mince, I'm sure I've done this in a veggie dish before but can't remember which one 🤔😂x
Hello Ian, Great way use up rotisserie chicken, good thing I'm not your neighbour, because I would be at your and your lovely wife's. door begging for food, just like a little dog. 😂😅😂😅. But I live in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada. You and Pamela (I hope that is her correct name). are a dear, sweet, caring, couple. ❤❤ from Debbie T.
Love lasagna and this looks delicious thanks for sharing beddy ❤🎉😂❤🎉😂
Thanks Janis 😊
Lovely, good simple comfort food 😊
Thank you 😊
The silicone spatulas are really good and no noise and no damage.
I was just about to say that too. I can’t hear anything except, I’ll come back later lol.
Im glad you're not using the metal wisk on my pans lol
I will purchase a plastic one 😂👍👌
Looks delicious
Thank you Janice it was 😊👌

Looks delicious but I wish you’d invest in some decent cookware, try le cresuet instead of the rubbish from Aldi 👍🏻
Thank you 😊, maybe in the future we may invest 👍
Where’s the garlic bread? Got to have Garlic bread surely? Mmmm
Lol Chris, we normally would have but also trying to make it a bit lighter, the bechemel was full on with butter just trying to keep calories down 😊😋
