I saw him in Macbeth and then in The Ruling Class, he was simply outstanding each time. I feel so lucky to have seen him on stage twice

@@rbaz9454 in hindsight it's so obvious but I was flabbergasted at being confronted by his face in multiple thumbnails on my feed. A good thing ofc!

I've never had trouble understanding anyone with a Scottish accent.

Depends where you're from. Different accents appear better suited to understanding us.

True, but not just on TV, also when I've been able to travel there as well, so in "real life."

great video, shame about the adverts. I missed a joke as there was an ad half way through. surely you tube are making enough money without advertising constantly.

Why is a man with a terrible speech impediment giving an amazing Scottish actor grief for his accent? Bizarre!

So true! I have to slow these interviews down to 75% to be able to understand both of them.
A weird side note is that I had read about some Linguists who had tried to track down the closest modern equivalent to Shakespearean English, which they believe they had found in the Mountains of Western North Carolina, where incidentally, I was meeting some of these Old Fiddlers in the 1970's (80 & 90 years+ years old) that would come down from the Mountains to play. I remember their way of speaking very well because I had a lot of questions about their fiddling style. They didn't necessarily have Shakespear's vocabulary. But they had a way of saying things, a turn of phrase so to speak, that was indescribably rich and descriptive. Some of the tunes they played were unlike anything I had ever heard, Strange and Beautiful at the same time.

I think it’s his hair, I really can’t tell the difference other than hair and stress lines. His kid is a lot older now, and he doesn’t color his hair.

Jonathan Ross is so, so good at building a safe haven with all of the guests he has on show. I’d love to see in absolute truth the responses from guests with regards to the World trade centre atrocities. That would make for interesting viewing...
