I think she’s angry that she wasn’t given the same opportunity as scooter. She wanted to buy her songs outright but Scott didn’t let her. That’s where the biggest problem is - besides the most obvious problem which is that ALL writers should own their work.
I am not a fan of Taylor, but she deserves to own her work.
Taylor Swift wrote an ENTIRE album all by herself (Speak Now),
And is a main songwriter on all of her songs but was not even given a proper deal even though she CAN buy them.
Isn't it weird that most of the people congratulating or standing by Scooter and Scott are people who are directly connected to them or their respective labels?

If Scooter was a decent person he would sell Taylor Swift's catalog back to her with a proper deal because that is the decent thing to do.

Something ain't right here. If Justin had posted that picture on his on volition, how did he get that screenshot? When you facetime someone, your face is in the smaller screen, not the larger. That means Justin was SENT that picture, he didn't take it himself. Not a big deal (?), but definitely fishy.

As I hear from some sources, the old label would let her have the master of her songs if she agree to sign again. That's why she chose to leave. But why did Scooter have to change the name of old albums, force fans purchase those albums again? I don't think that's neccessary.
So far I'm leaning towards Taylors side. I just think she should be able to own the music she created.

Taylor didn’t make this public to start a fight. She posted it on tumblr which is the place she connects with fans the most intimately. Fans of hers had been asking about the news before her statement because we wanted to know how she felt. When Taylor said “I swear I don’t love the drama, it loves me” she was right.

She should not have had to sign a new contract to get HER work back, that part is shady. Especially if she offered to buy them outright. Unfortunately, this is something "we been knew" for decades. George Harrison has very few writing credits on Beatles work because he had a writing contract with another company. The Queen song "Death on Two Legs" was about the deal with their record company where they were taken advantage of. Don't get me started on the Motown contracts. This is why the internet has been so great for music. People can self publish much easier than a decade or two ago, and can find a following without a record label. Its still hard af, but its an option that earlier musicians didn't really have.

Regardless if people believe Taylor or not this is a serious issue that all artists deal with. Artists deserve to own their own music and they are only going to be able to do that with fan support.
It’s so strange how those on Scott’s side say she needs to own up to responsibility and stop lying. Obviously Taylor wants to own her own songs and has the means to do so, so if a fair deal was presented to her, she would have taken it. I’m sure there was something binding in the deal they gave her that wasn’t worth it to her. It doesn’t matter if some details that were “good” for her were left out, as I’m sure the cons outweighed the pros

Overall though, it seems like everyone is focusing on Scooters character, which is really only a secondary issue. The issue at hand is about *artists owning their art*
It's interesting how most of the people defending Scooter don't really address this so much as scream about how great he is...
That, among other things, leads me to believe that he is coaching/bribing his clients into handling his drama for him, or intentiionally giving him more publicity.

Taylor would have to buy the entire label company in order to own her masters. This is what Michael Jackson did. He bought 50% of the shares of sony, this is how he was able to outsmart them. Its a messed up thing for artists but i believe they had full knowledge of how the industry works.

This reminds me of when Michael Jackson outbid Paul McCartney for the rights to the Beatles songs hey Jude and others, for 47 million. Really, Paul McCartney should have owned the rights to the songs, and gotten preferential treatment as an artist, and he was very angry about it.
I don't know who to believe but one thing is for sure, Borchetta, Braun and Justin roping their wives in to this is a petty move. Secondly, that statement about buying Taylor Swift is insensitive and offensive. Taylor has every right to be upset with Braun and Borchetta, there is no excuse for this degrading comment. Lastly, if you can fill me in on this, show me some actual proof that Toddrick actually stole from his fans.

God this is all so messy and I am HERE for it! But I stand with Taylor because I believe her. She’s a strong independent woman making history in her industry that is run by rich white men. Of course they’re going to be intimidated by her and do anything they can to try and screw her over with shady deals.

Honestly the whole contract thing that Tylor is describing just seems like nonsense, at least if you see it from a business stand point. If they knew how Swift felt about the Masterd they could have used it as leverage to get her into another contract. I would see it more feasible that the deal they gave to her was more along the lines " If you accept this contract you get all your masters from now on including the old ones, only that the old ones would be give to you over a period of time" and more likely than not those periods of time would be dealing with paper work and general bureaucracy. Yet again everyone knows that entertainment is a truly stupid industry run by narcissistic lizard people who try to act human, and have the tendency of not knowing how negotiate. But if the contract was actually how she described then it would be something I would like to read because I am sure that there would have been other thing that she ain't talking about.
