I been covering news about the closure so I can raise awareness about how toys r us was shut down in usa on purpose (thats why its still open after being bought in canada) and alot of adults say it was their childhood. But its actually the kids of today that are sad. adults just move on, even when some crazy financial predation is going on. And I didnt even grow up going to toys r us, it was too expensive. I did love geoffrey though, always thought he was cool. And being able to go to toys r us as an adult was nice, it actually has a lot of specialty items you cant find anywhere else. o well, thats what happens in todays world where everything is talk
It wasn't alone, just some of the last vestiges after they were the only real chain which remained after KB, which still wasn't that long ago... TRU was the real last bastion for kids ;-;
The company just couldn’t compete with the likes of Best Buy, Target, Walmart and Amazon. These companies sold (and still sell) toys that were always cheaper in price. However, Tru had better prices on video games, if you can believe it. My wife and I shopped at our local Tru every pay day. We became friends with the staff and we were considered honorary Tru family members because of our frequent shopping trips to the store. The biggest complaint the employees had were the customers that NEVER shopped at their store, but showed up the last day to take advantage of the enormous sale. They (the employees) kept saying to us, ‘Where were these people when our jobs were in jeopardy?’. So, yeah… anyone who walked into a Tru during closing week (but hadn’t stepped foot in a Tru in years) were silently sneered at by the employees.

If not for the massive debts the Jerkwads who bought out Toys R Us and putting the company Billions of dollars in debt we would still have Toys R Us. Toys R Us did not deserve to get screwed like this. Rest In Peace TRU.

Alot of their best toys came out in recent years too. Now, the executives took millions of dollars and ran off while the company sank and workers are without pay and jobs.
