Hi James nice to actually meet you at South West Koi the other day and it looks a fantastic product the 3D Filter Floss can’t wait to be able to purchase some and give ve it a go Also I see in your video when you show the Mountain Tree in your shower filter you just have it randomly placed but doesn’t it have to be stood up straight Cheers Paul
Awesome video as usual mate, I've just started my pond build and enjoying making content for youtube, harder than it looks hahaha, gave you a shoutout on the video for been a good inspiration to the hobby :)
Well done 👍👏that’s a very good test the more porous the better and it defo proves it’s good media. I have done the same with biohome which is equally as porous. Thanks mate excellent vid
CSI James the koi whisperer 😂 but yes a very good comparison between the two types of media thanks for sharing and learning people with your knowledge of filteration, because obviously it works because your pond's and all your fish tanks all look amazing so obviously you know what you're talking about 👍
Nice Video James, I’d be interested to see the result with the original proper BHM vs the mountain tree. It seems the mountain tree media is really starting to get some traction now
Mate, you need to check your facts! The other shower media is NOT a cheap copy of the Mountain Tree stuff, if anything, it’s a copy of the “Original” Momotaro Bakki House media (Japanese) both of which were probably around well before the mountain tree (Chinese) stuff! In certain ways they are superior to the mountain tree media, in that the placement should be random and for most showers it’s advised snapping the rods in 2 to allow closer placement with less void space, as with random tight placement water “tracking” is less likely. Something that the mountain tree media doesn’t lend itself too quite so easily! I’m glad that you are lucky enough to have Mountain Tree as a sponsor but pushing their products without proper technical studies and facts is going to turn viewers off. At the end of the day a Bakki shower media needs to be porous enough to allow colonisation by bacteria and durable enough to withstand the high flow rates required to get the best from a Bakki, something that far inferred media does very well. I don’t know if Mountain Tree have improved their production process, but I remember when it first came on to the market a number of people posting that their media was breaking up and required replacing! If your happy with your Mountain Tree media and that it does what you want from it that’s all that matters. But the reality is your ponds are so over filtered for their water quantity and stock levels that you’d probably have decent water quality if you just used house bricks as a media!
@@ces69sorry James, but I totally agree. Normally really enjoy your videos, but the constant biased push for mountain tree products is for me, loosing your integrity. I personally would much prefer you doing honest, unpaid reviews of products. As you’ve said, mountain tree pay for your channel, so how do we really know if their products are any good as you’re being paid to promote them. I see a while back you pushed in a video the Burtons Bacteria Activator, but I have not seen any mention of this since and you’ve moved onto the premixed bottles. Why is this? Is because of sponsorship? Apologies if this is harsh, but I’m sure you would rather know than just see your viewing numbers drop and wonder why.
Selective koi sales my local koi dealer , where got everything for our koi pond set up , see all the mountain tree products when we were up there last week
Been a silent viewer for the last few years following you.I too struggled with the issues you had. I don’t want to sound too negative but it feels like your previous addiction has now moved to throwing out as many videos as possible for the “hit” and also becoming a advert / promotion for south west koi and mountain tree. Not everyone can afford them products. I was really interested in the build of the cheap grow on pond but feel like it’s had thousands thrown at it with help from these places/companies Again don’t want to sound negative. It’s just what’s come up in conversation when speaking with friends. I love the precise diy skill videos, and find myself skipping through the mountain tree stuff when that comes up
Yea I understand that but now I am doing TH-cam as a job not just a hobby I have got to make it work for me on my side that allows me to make the content in the long run I can’t just make videos for free anymore if that makes sense it has to pay my bills as well like a normal job does When I get to the farm I will be making diy filters ponds ect up the koi studio but I need the funds to make this all happen so it’s the long term goal I am in this for
@@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 brilliant love the long term goal, didn’t see it like that mate iv maybe missed something on your journey, keep up your hard work and I know understand you are doing it as a job but please don’t forget to have some time out to re charge the batteries and more importantly family time, content will be bigger and better then I think. Again apologise for sounding negative.
@JamesTHEKOIwhisperer123 is it the mark 1 or the mark 2 model please and if you could do a video of the drum as I'm picking a mark 1 up couple weeks but using it pump fed so how does float switch work and any thing else please
@@kentishkoi9352 I believe the only way you can do it pump feed is on the out lets you have to put like a u bend in the pipe work b 4 it gravity feed back to the pond but best to ring burtons as I am not shore on pump feed as I only run gravity
