For those who don't know Dropsy is a symptom not a disease. It's fluid retention due to lowered organ function or organ failure. It can have a dozen different causes ranging from parasites, bacteria, or fungus, to injuries, poor diet, or bad water quality. Even breeding quality and the fishes general level of stress can factor in. Likewise high ammonia levels for a sustained period of time are pretty much sure to cause Dropsy if the fish doesn't die outright. If caught early, and you are able to pinpoint and treat the cause completely, it can sometimes be cured and the fish can live a happy life. But generally it means there is permanent damage to the fishes organs. Fish that have had it and recovered are prone to it happening again due to their weakened state and are usually doomed, though treatment should always be attempted (the worst looking fish will surprise you and live double the expected lifespan it's amazing). In this case it's a numbers game. Luke handles hundreds of fish and there are bound to be a few weak ones. Tubby Tobey was wonderfully cared for and was treated to the best of Luke's abilities. Sometimes they just don't make it. This is why fish are more often seen as livestock to be replenished when they run low rather than as individual pets like dogs and cats. That said they are still animals and still deserve love and care. Thank you Luke for putting so much focus into the quality of your fishies environment, feeding, and care.

Gotta be careful about showing where you live on TH-cam. As you get to be a bigger TH-camr people will try to show up where you live & stalk you & unfortunately can lead to premeditated crimes. It's best to blur that stuff out for you & your wife's safety
10k is normal. i did heating and air over 10 years ago and mid size home systems were 10k back then. a smaller united with full duct work run would be less than 5k. you have to change out duct work when you change a unit due to regulations.

Oh, hellz bellz! What state do you live in??? I’m in northern Illinois and a furnace replacement would be about 4-5 grand absolute max!!! 3 grand is the norm including installation! Dude!!! You need a log splitter! For a 500-1000 you can split logs in a fifth of the time vs cutting! Granted, splitting by hand keeps your upper body nice and strong! You’re pretty amazing with the fishies and all of the work you do! Happy and safe New Year!!!!

Early last year my furnace broke too. The secondary heat exchanger was corroded out. Pretty common problem with Bryant/Carrier furnaces of the day. Cost a little over 7k to replace the furnace. And this time not a Bryant!
Depends honestly where you get them. If you get them from a good breeder like he is they will have a higher rate of survival and logevity. If you get them from the store they won’t live long most of the time. Pet stores or large chains usually have lots of fish that are sick or carrying diseases because they don’t quarantine
