    Hooliganism was literally called "the English disease". It had been a problem for a long time with all English clubs (and the national team) when they played abroad.

    The away goals rule is very simple. If you have more away goals than your opponents in case of a draw, you win.

    • @IamMalkavian

      yep , essentially if you had a 2-2 draw away , and a 1-1 draw at home , you would win because you had more " away " goals across both matches

      it's not (just) about drawn games.
      You take the TOTAL score FIRST (across the 2 games). But IF the total score is even, only THEN, you take the away goals scored

    the heysal disaster was the last straw. english fans had repeatedly looked to fight police and home fans on several away trips in europe.
    it needed to be done against us and it made us completely modernise a 100 year old sport.
    the result of the ban along with the hillsborough disaster is we now have the best league in the world and our traveling fans are usually much better behaved.
    not perfect, but often these days its english fans who are the ones attacked on away trips.
    the harsh lessons we learned in england made us better and the ban was the best thing at the time.
    the sad thing football wise is that everton had a golden team in 87-89 and could of challanged for a champions league but were denied the chance.

    Away goal rule applies only in case if aggregate result is draw
    Example: Manchester united vs Bayern Munich;
    First game is played in Manchester and ManU wins 4:3,
    Second game is played in Munich and Bayern wins 2:1,
    The aggregate result is 5:5 and Bayern goes trough because they scored 3 goals in away game and united scored only 1 in their away game.
    In case both games end in same result (both games 1:1, both games 2:2...), then the extra time is played

      Heck even i learn alot watching the videos and ive watched football for 40 years.
      Most people stick to one league and learn nothing about the other ones.

    I feel the future will be the 'FIFA World Champions League' tournament where every continent enter. UEFA Europa League can finally have more importance as the main European Cup, meanwhile Copa Libertadores and the other continental cups in Asia and Africa will remain, probably cutting amount of games to fit both tournaments in the calendar.

    Few notes here.
    1. Before the Europe Cup, the best international title was considered to be Inter-Cities Fairs Cup.
    2. The Europe Cup was created in 1955 by French media "L'Équipe", and Real Madrid president "Santiago Bernabeu". They decided the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup didn't count (Real Madrid had none, FC Barcelona, Valencia and other Spanish teams had won it)
    3. The first editions of the Europe Cup were invitational. Real Madrid as founder club decided who would participate.
    4. Many teams like i. e. FC Barcelona refused to participate in these first editions, sticking to the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup as established trophy to measure the best in Europe.

    • @tevlar
      @tevlar 12 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      The first European cups had 16 teams in it with teams that included teams from counties such as Saarland in Germany.
      The best team apart from Real Madrid was Milan, the rest was teams from low ranked leagues that was no real competition.
      For the first 10 years it was pretty much a tournament bulit to make Real Madrid win titles without competition.

    The other thing regarding American fans is the US is so massive, even going from say Dallas to Houston is a trek, where as here for example I live in Holmes Chapel in Cheshire, if I wanted to go watch one of the Manchester clubs, it's an hour in the car, or Liverpool is a similar distance away from me, for away fans pretty much everywhere is easy to get to, in America its usually a big journey going to an away game

    • @DaxRaider
      @DaxRaider 21 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      jaeh but england is tiny, tahts not the norm in europe
      in the 1st german league tehre are games where the teams are 889km away tahts 8-9 hours drive with a car with no break when there is no traffic which always is xD
      same goes for france and italy and so on
      its just that england is so unbelievable small xD

    • @mrmr5580
      @mrmr5580 20 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      @DaxRaider the US is still very large, plus in Germany, much like in England it's the national sport, with the fandom to match, in the US it's a relatively new thing, in England/Germany and Europe in general really it's massively established and has been for a very long time, the US is still relatively new to this, I'm assuming you're German, for example if I said the name Fritz Walter, or you said to me Bobby Charlton that'd mean something, we're both from countries that have an insane amount of football history, the US doesn't have that history or passion for the game yet, the distance is still a factor say LA Galaxy played New York away that's a massive journey, they don't have too many crazy, passionate fans who'd go out of their way to get an away ticket

    The ban do sound harsh today, but I imagine that hooligan culture in England was at such level (across all or most teams) that the concept of this ban sounded justified. The problem wasn't just Liverpool or some elements of Liverpool fans: that was the norm for english clubs at the time.

    • @insertnamehere1792
      @insertnamehere1792 23 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

      Sure but the supporter culture in England is dead as a corpse so the ban kind of ruined English football in that manner forever.

    • @ViJoker1
      @ViJoker1 22 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@insertnamehere1792 I'm not saying it didn't do harm to supporter culture as a whole, of course it did. It wasn't the right thing to do, in my opinion, but it just goes to show how bad things were that such a punishment made some sense for the people at the time.

    away goals works like if the first leg ends 2-1, then the second leg ends 1-0, on aggregate the scoreline is 2-2, but since in the first leg, the away team scored, they would advance
    works the same if the first leg ended 1-1, then the second leg ends 2-2, on aggregate it would be 3-3, but one team scored 1 away goals, but the other scored 2 away goals, so that team advances

    @5:18 lets say Bayern and Arsenal face each other in the quarterfinals of the CL. 1st game is played in London and the 2nd leg is played in munich.
    1st leg final result: Arsenal 3- 3 Bayern
    2nd leg final result: Bayern 1 - 1 Arsenal
    In this case Bayern advances since they scored much more away goals. Having the upper hand in away goals is like ALWAYS a +1 to your goal count

    Juventus won 1 CL and they did it by cheating. They were all doped up. Doctors have even admitted giving players performance enhancing shit. It should have been Ajax with 2 titles in a row. ALWAYS my beloved Ajax gets fuked over by Uefa. in 2012 two perfectly scored goals were disallowed against Real Madrid by some blind portuguese linesman. Which meant we lost the game instead of winning it. Then the game Dinamo - Zagreb was rigged and lyon scored 7 goals against them, the exact amount they needed to go trough instead of Ajax.
